View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone any idea on what is the difference between Windows 7 Home Premium Gold and "standard" edition? It is available from Dutch retailers, but they were unable to give me an answer. Googling forums and Microsoft web site (including Dutch one) also did not bring any results, except for more offers.
Could it be SP1 version or there is more to it?

I have an Asus G73 laptop that I am wanting to do a system recovery on. It works but it's very qwirky and has occasional lock ups. Somehow, one of the automatic Windows updates that was installed deleted all of my old restore points, all the way back to when I first bought the thing. Anyway, I can't get it to burn a full set of recovery disks which is apparently not that uncommon with these machine. Asus actualy responded to an inquiry I sent them (although it takes like, two weeks to get each reply. The dialog has been going on for weeks). They told me to go ahead and do the F9 on start up and tell it to restore the OS partition.
- Asus recommended that I just do the "restore Windows to first partition only". This will leave the other partitions as is. I have a second partition that is for data, games, etc. There is also a third partition that is for MS Office 2010 if I ever decided to purchase the program and activate it. I have all the Office software I need from work so I don't need this third partition. Actualy what I would like to do is just have one large partition with everything on it, including the recovery directory and the OS, restored back to exactly like it was the day I got it. Can this be done with the F9 on start up method?
My new laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed Home Premium 64bit, and what I know to Recovery (system image with installed drivers),which is placed in a hidden hard drive partition, you fail to restore the system with the drivers (to factory) .

I cannot find any button anywhere on the Welcome screen that I can click to 'reset password'. I cannot do it from the (limited) other user on the computer. I downloaded an Appliction called resetwindowspassword-set from 'download.cnet.com' and I cannot open the download because I do not have the administrator password.

View 9 Replies View RelatedPerformed system restore to factory point when I first recieved the computer. When windows starts, it states that it is rpeparing the system for first time use, however it will get to the welcome screen and prompt for a user name and passwordSystem restore never asked for a user name and password. I tried using the account information from when I setup the computer originally but it does not recognize the username. Also tried to type in administrator for the user name and it says the account has been disabledI have tried to setup user through the command prompt and through the registry using the windows recovery disk. When all this failed I contacted Dell and they said I disabled the admin account during restore (I would like to know how) and I would need the windows installation disk which were not included.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a Toshiba Satellite L500-20Z, and it does not tell me which version I am running, ( 32or64 ) though I know it IS x64. The in-store shpeil said it was equipped with Win 7 Home premium 64bit, with 32bit recovery partition.
Question 1 - is there any way to tell between 32 or 64 (apart from a "Program Files (x64)" folder on my C: drive), and
Question 2 - how do I tell what build I have? (the above link says nothing)
Question 3 - how to tell if the recovery is 64 and not just 32 without wiping my existing install?
(I suppose I could take an image of my current C: drive and use that instead of the recovery partition if disaster strikes.... only trouble is with OEM theres so much bloat and crap that's incluided...)
i would like to free up as much space as i can, so i want to know if there is a way i can just burnt the information on the recovery drive onto a disk or thumb drive and turn the 11.5 gigs they are using for it into unallocated space. could i click and drag the files from within it, onto a thumb drive?
