Sims 3 Crashing Computer To Safe Mode Screen

Jun 26, 2012

Anyone had similar problems with The Sims 3 crashing computer to the safe mode screen? Been playing Sims on my laptop for couple of years and everything was fine until I installed a new game. Im not sure whether there is a windows update which is interferring or not. Anyone experience anything? There is nothing wrong with my graphics card and my fan isnt overheating. My dad works in IT and we have basically pulled apart the laptop and rebuilt it and it still crashes when The Sims 3 is installed.

Computer Crashing/blue Screen During 'full Performance' Mode

Aug 30, 2011

The past couple of days i've been experiencing unusual behaviour from my computer. For the past few days I've been having crashing problems. The crashes aren't all the same however; on a handful of occasions it's given the famous old 'blue screen of death' and on others my computer either just turns off, or the whole computer just crashes. I've noticed the crashes only occur when I turn the computer to 'full peformance' mode after a couple of minutes meaning I'm literally unable to leave power save mode for more than 3 minutes.

I use 'EPU-4 Engine' to switch my computer between 'power save' mode and 'full peformance' mode only using full peformance if I want to play games or install something.

I didn't think much of this at start, as i've never had these problems before 2 days ago. I figured it may have been a faulty driver, so I downloaded specific ones for hardware, but that didn't solve the problem. I then tried a system restore to restore back to a previous date presuming it may have been an update that went wrong, but nothing changed, I still got the crashes.

I run Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition,
AMD Phenom II x4 964,
ATI 5850 Graphics card,
4 GB's of Ram

Computer Stuck On Black Screen - Wont Start In Safe Mode?

Feb 13, 2011

Like the title says, my computer is stuck on a black screen.I downloaded an update and was instructed to restart the computer. After restarting the computer it went to a black screen. It won't do anything past that. I've tried starting it in safe mode but always with the same result. I have no idea what to do with this short of taking it to Best Buy to have the geek squad take a look at it and frankly I don't feel like doing that.

Cannot Access Safe Mode - Computer Won't Go Into Safemode Only Leads To Black Screen

Dec 30, 2012

my laptop looks like it has a massive problem. i have been on various forums for advice but unable to solve - this is the problem

* it turns on & I CAN get into advanced menus

* it will not repair itself no matter what

* it will not go into any other modes , safe Etc....therefore I cannot restore to factory settings etc....

* ive Tried all tricks such as F8, Alt & F11 etc..... to get into advanced menu settings - all lead to the black screen

* everything i click on enter leads to a black screen - only a white curser appears.

its as if there is no way of accessing the computer disc/ hard drive in anyway from boot up. there is clearly a hardware problem but i cannot access anything internal beyond ordinary & advanced menus i just keep being led to the black screen & no activity. the menus work & that is all.

i run Windows 7 on a Dell inspiron 1564

Repeated Crashing Of Windows Explorer On Start-Up, Only Opens In Safe Mode

Aug 26, 2012

I know this topic is similar to a number of others that have been posted before but i have not been able to successfully apply any of the solutions to the posts i have found addressing this issue.

It began happening after downloading an .mkv file. initially exp crashed and asked to restart. Did so and all good apart from occasional crashing and restarting.

Now turned lap-top on again and it won't even finish restarting before crashing, and this time there is no escaping the loop. Tried a restore from before the file was there but for some reason this didn't make any difference!

Currently in safe mode, have disabled all non ms services and all start-up items using msconfig and restarted normally - didn't change anything.

Ran CCleaner and cleaned out temp files and registry and still no change.

After found this site downloaded and ran SF diag tool as instructed in FAQ and copied all 8 files except Minidump folder which is apparently empty. Remaining files attached.

One person has suggested repairing using Windows Installer dvd this doesn't help me as OS was pre-installed and I don't have a DVD.

Can't Boot Computer In Normal Mode Or Safe Mode

Oct 5, 2012

I can't boot my computer in normal mode or safe mode. When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. Especially if it involves command prompt.I should also add that it has been crashing more often than I think is normal ever since I got it, but recently it BSODed 3-4 times a day. I have antivirus and also ran a full malwarebytes scan yesterday, and it only found one little issue which was resolved.

Computer Can't Boot Through Safe Mode Or Normal Mode

May 24, 2012

I seem to be having quite the problem on a computer of mine. After recently installing the directx sdk I am unable to logon through normal or safe mode. When I try to boot up normally, I log in but then the monitors go black but everything else seems to run. Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again. When I boot up through safe mode the computer restarts seconds after loading the windows logon screen.

Windows 7 X64 - Computer Crashing On Sleep Mode

Feb 23, 2011

I recently built my machine. It was working fine doing things in windows and out. I have an SSD now and liked how smoothly the computer would resume from the default sleep mode power settings that came with win7, so for the first time I've actually been using them on my desktop. However, since installing sp1, sleep no longer seems to work. When I woke up this morning and when i came home from work, the computer was not in sleep mode. Normally I expect to see the power button flashing, and in neither case it was. When I start the computer it asks me how i want to enter windows, just like it does normally if windows crashes. Everything else on my computer is working as expected.

I have tried all safe modes, last known good configuration and with Samsung recovery 3 i have done a basic restore but nothing has worked. I would be open to a full system restore if i needed to but i would prefer not to.

Can Only Use Computer In Safe Mode

I have an L505D-GS6000 Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7. At the moment, I can only go on my lap top in safe mode. When I try to log onto it normally, it starts loading the things on my desktop and then freezes. I know that in safe mode, you are limited to what you can do, so I'm not sure if having no sound also is because of the safe mode or if it's related to what ever the problem is with the lap top as a whole.I have talked to a few people about it, some say I may have a virus that has frozen my drivers.I have Malawarebytes, and have run a full scan and nothing came up. I also am no able to download anything.

After a lot (I think it was loaded correctly) of .sys files my screen froze and after 3 seconds some weird blue dots appeared and (Left upper corner. Every dot was like 10x30 pixels) after some more seconds my screen turned black. No cursor, no login screen. How can I log in to the safe mode?

Black Screen / Safe Mode / No Networking

Nov 7, 2011

I am experiencing the black screen issues with my new windows 7 lenovo laptop. when it starts normally, I can get to my user logon screen but when I select a profile the computer takes a moment to load through the welcome... part and then just a faint light blue screen with cursor. In normal mode I have a cursor but no button or keyboard functionality whatsoever. I can boot the computer into safe mode with full safe mode functionality.I have spent literally 3 days working on the issue. I have tried everything I can to this point. Re-installing my graphics driver, disabling it all together and trying a new boot, same result. I've deleted all user accounts and created new ones (as I said this laptop was brand new so I don't have a lot of personal data on it, none anymore) as well as checked my winlogon/ shell to verify explorer.exe. System restore and Boot repair are also not working to help the issue at all.

Computer Will Only Boot In Safe Mode

Aug 7, 2012

my Sony VAIO VGC-LA3 seems to have a problem. I recently did a clean install of windows 7, which was no problem and completely drama free. I then sourced all the relevant drivers and installed a few essential programs and updates to get the machine up and running. I was then prompted into doing a restart so the updates could be installed. Upon restart the machine came on, start up options flashed up as normal and proceeded to the windows loading screen. The screen then goes black and shows no sign of coming back on until I bet the 'blue screen of death' 5 minutes later. The HDD and WIFI light do flash during these 5 mins. Then the computer restarts after the BSOD and says that Windows wasnt shut down correctly etc I chose to start normally and the same thing happens again. I then chose to start in Safe Mode With Networking and the machine would go through the start up procedure as expected, loading the OS with only basic drivers. I have tried wiping the hard drive and doing another installation of 7, with no success, and have also tried Vista, with the same result.

Computer Will Not Boot Normally, Must Use Safe Mode

Dec 24, 2012

Whenever I would boot my computer, the splash screen would hang and would not move onto the password screen. I would then have to restart my computer and activate safe mode so I can access system restore, find a restore point and go back to how it was earlier. I know for a fact that the Windows updates have been the key problem here, so I always backtrack a few system restores before that.

Now, the problem has come back and my restore points are ALL GONE. As I'm typing this, I am running SFC /SCANNOW, and here is the message that comes up at the end:

WINDOWS RESOURCE PROTECTION DID NOT FIND ANY INTEGRITY VIOLATIONS.

Also, I cannot access system protection. On the System page, there are only three options, when there should be four. What is going on here? If I try to restart my computer without safe mode, it will just hang again.

Safe Mode Won't Run - Computer Just Keeps Booting

Nov 19, 2009

I have recently run into some issues on my machine that runs Windows 7. I can't run Windows Media Player; it just says the file name and then "Server Execution Failed".

I was advised to go into safe mode and type a command into cmd. However, safe mode would not work. At first I thought it was an F8 problem, so I was advised to go into msconfig > boot and change the system to boot into safe mode. I did that to find that safe mode gets into the driver loading screen and stops at windowssystem32driversClassPnP.sys and seems to load.

It shows the cursor, but then disappears and my computer reboots. However, since my computer is set to load into safe mode, it constantly tries to log into safe mode, which doesn't seem to work, so it just restarts, tries to go into safe mode, but can't, so it restarts again, going through the process again and again.

I have tried pressing "Delete" key at the beginning of boot up, but it does not show any thing else I can boot from. When I do get the F8 thing working, I select "Boot Windows Normally" but it just goes straight to the bootup of safemode.

I have an Acer Aspire M3800 that only has the factory restore discs that Acer eRecovery Management has asked me to make when I first bought my computer. I obtained Windows 7 through the "free upgrade" program Acer is running.

Computer Only Works In Safe Mode

Oct 4, 2012

All of a sudden, from just turning it on today, my laptop (a dell inspiron) now only works in what it calls 'safe mode'. This has literally just started, and no amount of turning it off and on again has fixed the problem. When I turn it on it loads up to the windows welcome screen, but instead of loading my desktop the screen goes completely black, sometimes with the mouse still on screen that I can move around. When I force it to shutdown, something in it bleeps loudly. (Note: I don't know if this might be related, but I've been having problems with my screen for a while now where it goes all pink and green, I know this is the wire between the screen and whatever it plugs into being loose, I just haven't gotten it fixed yet, but it's never done this and gone all black before.)

Blank Screen After Windows 7 Log On; Only Safe Mode Works?

Jan 10, 2013

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. Computer was working like a dream and has been for about a year now, when yesterday I booted up after running Windows update, like always, logged on like normal, only to see a blank screen with only my mouse cursor. Neither Ctrl+Alt+Del nor Ctrl+Shft+Esc work to bring up the Task Manager. I am able to boot into Safe Mode just fine, but of course unable to uninstall the Windows updates to the .NET framework.I have tried System Restore several times now, both from the Safe Mode and from the start-up recovery options accessed via F8 upon system startup. From the same menu, I have attempted Startup Repair but alas, Windows does not detect any problems (go figure, right? ).I have ran the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool to check if my hardware was going bad, and upon completion, it rebooted, once again, to a blank screen after being prompted to log in. Mouse works, nothing else does. Upon pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del I am greeted with the following message after waiting roughly 5 minutes:"The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."^Pressing ESC makes the message disappear along with my mouse, so that I am staring at a completely blank screen.I am on my friend's MacBook Pro right now, I'm really hoping someone can help, but I must admit I am reluctant to think so because someone once came to this board with the seemingly exact same problem and no one here was able to help him.Just to reiterate, I can boot up in Safe Mode, with or without Networking as well as accessing the Command Prompt. That's about all I can do.Edit: Now when I do a System Restore, I get this error message when it restarts (everything else is blank unless I restart in Safe Mode): However, when I try to navigate to this location either via Windows Explorer in Safe Mode or via the Command Prompt, one can clearly see that the location doesn't exist. I am confused.

Safe Mode Crashes After Displaying Logon Screen

May 1, 2012

After attempting to start my PC in Safe Mode to uninstall a graphics driver, it loaded drivers normally only to crash a few seconds after displaying the logon screen, which immediately caused the computer to load Windows normally. This error has been repeated countless times with the same result.

I have only tried to start up 'normal' Safe Mode. Sometimes key strokes are accepted (one time I had enough time to start inputting my password), but mostly, Safe Mode loads drivers, flashes the logon screen, and crashes.

Any ideas/advice? I have had this computer for 3 years now and this is the first time I have tried to start it in Safe Mode. If it matters, it's a Studio 1737, 8 GB ram, etc., more details can be provided if necessary.
