She was on Facebook printing pictures of her niece. She go one printed and when she clicked on the next one she wanted the screen locked up and see can't leave that site. I have had her unplug her printer and turn off her computer. That did not help. and I had her take the battery out of the computer. She left it out full a full night and then when she put it in the next morning her computer still went straight to the Facebook picture she had been trying to print.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with Windows 7 32 bit. When I got home today and wanted to turn my laptop on, I couldn't get past the startup screen, displaying the thinkpad welcome message. I have tried pressing the ThinkVantage button, and all the f buttons, esc, delete, nothing works.I have also tried inserting my Windows disc into the disc drive but that does nothing either.
Yesterday I was listening to music until my netbook froze. When I restart it, the Asus eee grey screen came up and it is stuck there. Pressing F2 to go to set up did not work and pressing tab did not go to bios.
I now have another issue with my pretty new laptop. Windows won't start up. Well it starts up but when I get to the password screen and type that in my laptop just gets stuck on the welcome screen. I don't know what to do fix it. This all started last night when I accidentally pulled the power cord out of the wall and the CPU shut down. The battery pack wasn't in( didn't wanna bust my battery)

I can't seem to shut down properly. It hangs on the shutting down screen and freezes (wheel stops spinning) I haven't managed to many BSODs but I have managed to get one, I've attached it. Any idea what the problem might be? I've tried restoring from previous restore point which then hung but windows said the restore was successfull

So I go on Windows, and I get to the welcome screen, after I enter my password, the spinney loader thingy just goes forever. I have to manually shut down and start back up multiple times before I can successfully logon again. After I finally got on, I saved the even log into a file, this includes all events since i turned it on and it got stuck. This occurance of the stuck welcome screen happens every once in a while
I am having a issue with my shut down.... when try to shut down my pc it gets endlessly stuck on the "Shutting Down" screen I have left it for over 12 hours with no change.
After the system update last night my computer has been acting weird. It started up at first but then it froze so i decided to hold down the power button to turn it off. after that when i turned it on again i get stuck in the welcome screen.
I've had a problem with a particular folder on my desktop for a while now and have finally decided to fix it. There is a folder that has some thing to do with Camtasia 7 (Software for screen recording and video editing) stuck on my desktop that I can't delete/rename.
So I turned on my computer today which has no OS on it because I wanted to do a clean install and it is not seeming to go post the boot screen. It won't even let me into the BIOS info. Anyone know whats going on?
I just installed a new motherboard into my compaq preserio and when the computer starts up I am greeted with a black screen that says "loading operating system...". When I plug the original motherboard in I am greeted with a black screen, nothing happens after that. I have already installed the new motherboard's drivers but thats was when it crashed. I ran a diagnostic on it and it gave me error BIOHD 3, which I believe means that the drivers couldnt be found. So I am stuck at a stand still until I can find a fix.
I've had Windows 7 installed for approx. a year without this problem occurring in the past. There was an update last night which I applied on shutdown. This morning, when I boot up my machine, it went to the login screen. After logging in, the screen is stuck on the "Welcome" and the spinning wheel. I restarted and booted into safe mode with success, and attempted to restore to the point before the updates. Same problem occurred, and when I rebooted into safe mode, it said that System Recovery was not able to find the previous restore point. I then tried the restore point before that, and the same problem occurred. Also, my hard disks appear to be functioning fine.

desktop screen gets stuck after 2-3 minutes from Booting up, the mouse doesn't move and the Key board doesn't respond.... I have to keep on rebooting the system to get it to work again..
I tried to flash drive on another computer it worked fine, but on my desktop it will not..If i turn my dektop on without the flash drive it comes up and says Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.If i insert the flash drive it freezes..If i start the computer with the flash drive in, it wont even get to the screen it freezes at the screen that tells me to press f12 for this, esc for that etc etc. This person has the same problem..And I cant boot from my origonal Hard drive because I believe its gone bad, If i start it with that hard drive it says Reboot and select proper boot device, its like it doesnt even recognize it, which im guessing means its gone bad.. But it wont freeze with that hard drive, but I also cant do anything
when I got it back from her (she's not a pro, btw) and tried to turn it on to make sure everything was clean, it was stuck on a 'logging off' screen. I've tried pressing Control Alt Delete, as well as turning it off with the power switchControl Alt Delete has no effect; the power switch turns it off, but when I turn it back on, the same screen comes up. Heeeelp! All the solutions I found by googling suggest what to do when the home screen comes up. The home screen isn't coming up at all. Is there anything I can do with it in the state it's in now
I just got a new computer, custom built nothing on either hard drives, i have a 1tb hard drive and a 64 gb SSD drive. I have a brand new windows 7 oem version, I start my computer up and it gets stuck on a screen.
Doing a Normal startup, or booting from the Windows 7 cd it will get so far as the Starting Windows screen, the Microsoft copy-write shows up briefly greyed out some, and just sits there. In Safe Mode, it loads everything seemingly, lastly avgidsha.sys, then sits on Please wait...I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors. Other suggestions that I have found use bootable CDs that want to start Windows first. The Windows 7 CD, Windows Defender Offline, Windows Recovery disk all get stuck at the same place as the HDD, the Starting Windows screen
I have tried to repair from the disk and I have tried a system restore. It will only start in safe mode without extra functionality. It happened yesterday when my power after out ran.
I recently got my first SSD after me original HD crashed and lost the windows files. So I decided to get windows 7 for it, I tried installing it from a USB and read the thread about it but with no luck. So I decided to go with my original windows xp cd and then upgrade to windows 7. I started up the comp and had it boot from cd, formatted the new SSD and installed the windows xp files. My comp then rebooted as normal for this and now it stays at the Asus motherboard screen for about 35-40 sec before going to a black screen with the blinking _ at top left and restarts just to do it all over again. I can hit Tab and if gives me the info, detects the Cd-rom, SSD and my usb keyboard. I have the option to hit alt+f2 to load the flash drive, but there is none saved in bios. I hit Del to run setup and everything is detected. WhenI fit f8 to try and boot from the SSD (to let windows continue to install) it goes to the black screen _ flashing or restarts immediately.
My ipod is stuck at the start-up screen. It's a black screen with the apple logo and a bar under it, the bar is empty. How do i fix it so it loads and gets to the lock screen as usual?
I rebooted my PC after installing the latest version of iTunes, and upon reboot I couldn't get past the motherboard splash screen. I tried removing each stick of RAM individually, I tried removing the battery, but finally it was clearing the CMOS which helped me at least get past the mobo splash screen (after pulling out all of the USB devices plugged in otherwise it would also freeze), but now it gets stuck on the Windows 7 loading screen.
I tried entering the Windows 7 repair function, but it freezes on a black screen (I waited about 20 minutes).
I tried booting into safe mode, but it gets stuck while loading this file: AVGIDSEH.sys
Now since I can't even boot into windows to try to do any kind of diagnosis, I figured I would create a USB drive portable version of Windows 7.
My question is, if I manage to boot into my portable Windows, what kind of tests should I run?
Finally one last question, typically when Windows 7 gets stuck at loading is it hardware related or would a complete re-install fix the issue? At this point I just need to get it back and running I don't care about losing my settings and programs.
I own an Asus K61IC laptop (Pentium dual-core processor 2.7 Ghz) which runs Windows 7 Home Premium (pre-installed). A few days ago it started to get stuck during some startups at the welcome screen (preceded by a small hang time between you click the user and the password box comes up). Today the problem became serious after it got stuck again at the first boot-up, and I had to turn it off from the on switch. Finally it successfully start from the second time and when it did I searched in the event logs and found 2 errors which happened during the first boot-up: -Zone alarm could not start because it timed out (I'm not too worried because the second startup showed a similar error with spybot) -The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly. (I copy/paste this from the event log, if you need the hole thing ask for it) I should mention the computer runs avira free and that I checked using the Asus Live Update that the BIOS is up to date.
