Netbook Stuck On Logging Off Screen?
Sep 14, 2011
when I got it back from her (she's not a pro, btw) and tried to turn it on to make sure everything was clean, it was stuck on a 'logging off' screen. I've tried pressing Control Alt Delete, as well as turning it off with the power switchControl Alt Delete has no effect; the power switch turns it off, but when I turn it back on, the same screen comes up. Heeeelp! All the solutions I found by googling suggest what to do when the home screen comes up. The home screen isn't coming up at all. Is there anything I can do with it in the state it's in now

My netbook froze on friday night. Try to restart, but was stuck at grey screen. It has asus logo and eee pc written. The options f2 to run setup and tab to display bios post yields nothing. In other words, pressing either button doesn't work. I have removed the battery, pressed the power button without the power cord, put everything back in, tapping f2. So far, no progress. Few times, i try pressing f2 similtaneously as i hit the power button, i got american megatrends screens. Still, none go further. I have this netbook for a little over a year. The warranty just expired a month ago. It is running window 7 starter already installed when i got it at bestbuy. I had contacted asus support, and tried some i mentioned above. I prefer to do this by myself.

bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /FixBoot
bootrec /RebuildBcd
but nothing, same error!!!I thought it was a sata driver issue so I downloaded the drivers and opened on the system recovery through usb but it says they can't be installed....so should I slipstream in the xp iso before install xp??

My toshiba netbook (running windows 7 ultimate) has been stuck in an updates loop for the better part of the year. Whenever it has wanted to restart for updates, I always let it, but now it gets stuck configuring and sometimes realizes that it's failed and reverts the changes, or sometimes (when it's stuck on the same percentage for hours or even days) I have to pull the battery and restart in safe mode to get it to work again. Now it's really stupidly slow and can't even open firefox half the time. I've taken some basic precautions, like thorough malware scans, backing up all my files on my external hard drive and deleting useless programs, but it's still sluggish and unreliable

I get a black screen after logging in.
The only thing on the screen is (happily) the Start button and my gadgets.
No desktop Icons, No taskbar, no wallpaper.
Had this with the Windows 7 driver. Windows update suggested the Nividea drivers which I installed. No help.
Current workaround: Change screen resolution to anything... everything comes back... I don't accept the change in resolution.. all stays on screen.
So just enoying but very curious what could cause this.

My windows 7 hangs up after logging in. In safe mode with networking, it is running perfectly. I have had this problem intermittantly, and the last times I got a message that my video driver as stopped working and is recovering. My computer would work fine for about a month or so and then it would happen. I have downloaded latest drivers from nVidia, and have also disabled everything except Microsft items on Startup. The errors I get in the event log is as follows :DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:{7D096C5F-AC08-4F1F-BEB7-5C22C517CE39}DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service ShellHWDetection with arguments "" in order to run the server:{DD522ACC-F821-461A-A407-50B198B896DC}DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}The driver detected a controller error on DeviceHarddisk3DR3.The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

I performed a clean boot by disabling everything except microsoft stuff at startup. The item I eliminated was adobe reader speed launcher. I can not see it in my programs or features so I can uninstall it. With it disabled..my computer stopped hanging.

So I've got this computer:
Windows 7 ultimate (legal)
version : 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 build 7601 x64
Proc : Intel core i7 CPU 970 @3.2 GHz, 3201 Mhz,
ram: 24GB
So the problems I used to have was when as soon as I logged on to skype or pressed print screen, the entire computer would freeze and there was nothing else I could do exept for a hard reset. When looking for a solution online I found a command for cmd prompt which disabled some debugging; ( even though I have absolutely no idea what this does, I always feel like shutting down parts of windows is not such a good idea)
bcdedit -debug off
I used this command rebooted and to my relief i was able to take screen shots without freezing my entire PC. Unfortunately when I run skype now and log in, my computer freezes and gets a BSOD : 0x00000101, Something about a time signal from a co-processor which wasn't received on time.

I have a new Desktop with Windows 7. After I start the computer and leave it running for a while, (10 to 15min), it will automatically revert to the password screen. Also it won't go to screen saver. I have the screensaver set to not require password after waking. Also I have my power settings set to high performance. Also i have my Nic card configured so that it isn't allowed to be turned off.

I recently got a new netbook and have had a problem with it. On 3 occasions now, during startup I have got a blue screen and although only around 4 weeks old, I have already performed a full restore. The netbook in question is an aspire one d270 windows 7 starter (not my choice of netbook but neither here nor there). Obviously I have programs like adobe up to date but other than using microsoft programs I have only installed avast and firefox.

I recently bought a netbook (ASUS N10J) which supports a maximum resolution of 1024x600. I have installed windows 7 on it and it runs pretty well however i have one issue...
Sometimes when you have a window open it will be too big to fit on the screen and cant see the buttons at the bottom.
I know you can get multiple desktops but what i would like is multiple desktops that run onto each other so if a window on desktop 1 goes off screen the bit off screen would appear on a desktop 2.
Hopefully that makes at least some sense
Does anyone know of any application or option ive missed that will let you do it?

I have a gateway netbook. Normally when it is plugged in and I unplug it the screen dims. Yesterday it stopped doing that. Now when I unplug it stays at the same brightness. Just to clarify, it seems as though whether it is plugged in or not, the brightness is like it used to be when I unplugged it (it is dimmed either way). It's not that important because the thing stays plugged in most of the time, but I am curious as to how this could happen. I just reinstalled Windows on it a few days ago. It is 32-bit ultimate, if that matters.

I been working a a friends netbook for about 2 weeks now and I can't seem to find a fix to the problem. Once I got Windows 7 on it but when my friend started putting music on it it crashed. So then after that I installed Ubuntu on it and that worked for a little bit but it still crashed. Then I installed Windows 8 on it and it worked for fine for a few days then it quit working. So I decided to install Windows 7 back on it and after it dose a complete install where the screen should install the drivers I got a short blue screen then the netbook restarted. So now when you boot it up it try's to load windows but after it bets passed loading it restarts the computer. The netbook is a Asus Eee PC 1001p.

I have a 2 year old DELL laptop that I use mostly for school. Today, when I tried to boot it up, I got past the login screen, and then the computer just does nothing. I get a black screen with a mouse cursor on it. I've looked this up online and have tried the solutions that I have found:
1) Download the fix from PREVX.com - did nothing.
2) Try CTRL+ALT+DEL to get into task manager - did nothing.
3) Boot in Safe Mode (works) and create a new profile - still black screen.
The school semester just started and the school website (I take ALL my classes online) does not work from this desktop (which is an entirely different issue that no one can figure out... not the school tech people, not the DELL people or the Firefox/Microsoft people... no one).

My Laptop recently can't load start-up applications and getting multiple errors as I log in. Most of the time before I can do anything, the Laptop goes BSOD or just restarts because of system failure and does the same thing again. Mostly the error occurring is 0xc0000185. And explorer.exe crashes everytime as the taskbar appears or try to do something. I already experienced this problem before but it disappeared when I repasted my CPU and GPU.

I have to manually shut down and start back up multiple times before I can successfully logon again. After I finally got on, I saved the even log into a file, this includes all events since i turned it on and it got stuck. This occurance of the stuck welcome screen happens every once in a while
