View 3 Replies1) My windows 7 stuck at "shutting down". Doesn't matter if i'm restarting or shutting down. If i don't touch it, then i get a BSOD after about 10 minutes.
2) every once in a while i have no connection to the internet. If i troubleshoot, windows says there's a problem with my local area connection, but doesn't fix it. Only if i restart, and then troubleshoot, it resets my "local area connection" and everything's fine. I remember in windows xp i would just press "disable" on the local area connection, and the enter again, and it would restart it automatically. But i have no idea how to reset it manually.
I recently updated from Vista to Win 7 (both 32-bit Home Premium). It was a simple upgrade, not a new install.
I've noticed with Windows 7 that when I go to do a shutdown, while the desktop is shutting down, it grays the screen and says a program is is not shutting down in a timely matter. I never saw that with Vista. It doesn't appear to tell me WHAT program is the issue. Also, it usually clears itself within a second or two, barely giving me time to check anything.
I've seen various WaitToKillApp and HungApp notes about speeding up shutdown. I'm not all that worried about making it shut down fast, but would like to know how I could find out WHICH program it is. If anything, I'd increase the time before it complains so it shuts down cleanly. I think older Windows would list the name of the program in a standard dialog box, but not this full-screen thing.
PS: I'm mixed on Windows 7. I've had to 'undo' alot of things and rely on 3rd party software like ShellFolderFix to get back 'power user' abilities.
Just as the title suggests. After i press restart, it's stuck at "shutting down" for about 10 minutes (looks idle), and then there's a momentary BSOD and a restart. After it restarts, it gives me the option to start windows normally or in a safe mode.My OS is Windows 7 64 bit.Quad core 2.5GHZGforce 560 2GB4 GB RAM
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy PC's display just went off while I was surfing the net...first I thought it was the screen, so I plugged in another screen, windows booted and same happened after a few minutes after startup...screen just goes off...Now to my knowledge it can be 2 things:
1. graphics card
2. RAM. Notes: I do not get any beep errors...
I would like to know, what are the best software available for testing RAM issues? Also, I am using AMI BIOS(american megatrends v7.4, 2009), how do I do the startup memory diagnostics? I know there is a shortcut for it...
Also, I'm typing on the PC now that is giving me issues, don't know how long until display goes again...
For a while (ever since I updated my BIOS, I think) my computer have been taking around 10 minutes to shut down and after the 10 minutes it shows a blue screen for a second and then it restarts/shutdown. I recorded the computer screen while it was shutting down and was able to take a screenshot of the blue screen. This is what it says: Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I'm not sure when this has been going on since I usually shut my computer off and go to bed without looking twice at the screen but upon shutting off my computer yesterday, this blue screen appeared:

View 6 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

When I plug the original motherboard in I am greeted with a black screen, nothing happens after that. I have already installed the new motherboard's drivers but thats was when it crashed. I ran a diagnostic on it and it gave me error BIOHD 3, which I believe means that the drivers couldnt be found. So I am stuck at a stand still until I can find a fix.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had Windows 7 installed for approx. a year without this problem occurring in the past. There was an update last night which I applied on shutdown. This morning, when I boot up my machine, it went to the login screen. After logging in, the screen is stuck on the "Welcome" and the spinning wheel. I restarted and booted into safe mode with success, and attempted to restore to the point before the updates. Same problem occurred, and when I rebooted into safe mode, it said that System Recovery was not able to find the previous restore point. I then tried the restore point before that, and the same problem occurred. Also, my hard disks appear to be functioning fine.
