Blue Screen Error When Shutting Down?
Jan 16, 2012For a while (ever since I updated my BIOS, I think) my computer have been taking around 10 minutes to shut down and after the 10 minutes it shows a blue screen for a second and then it restarts/shutdown. I recorded the computer screen while it was shutting down and was able to take a screenshot of the blue screen. This is what it says: Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen. Restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components , restart your computer, press F8 to select Advances Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Computer Has Been Shutting Down Unexpectedly
Oct 6, 2012My computer has been shutting down unexpectedly for a while. I installed a new power supply, stopped using Internet Explorer, and replaced Vista with Windows 7. The problem seemed to go away. However, recently I've been getting the BSOD and having the computer shut down. Before I go buy a new computer (current one was purchased in 2007), I thought I'd see if anyone here has any suggestions. I went to the Event Manager and found the following errors in the Administrative Files that occurred around the time of the last shut down.

Aug 1, 2012I keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

The computer acts like it going to start up, but then an error comes up say "computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error".He has a back up disc, but still gets the same error when trying to use that. He cannot even go into repair mode when pressing f8.He does not have the original disc because it was preinstalled on his computer.

Computer Restarted Unexpectedly Or Encountered And Unexpected Error
Oct 25, 2009Last night after all the troubles with getting W7 Pro 64bit installed, I finally managed to do it using a USB.
This morning I start installing all my programs and I noticed that my "Windows Experience" number was 1.0. I assumed this was down to it not recognising my graphics card (Geforce 9600M GS).
I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia and installed them. Upon restarting, I received an unexpected error message giving me the option to repair the problem or run windows normally. The latter just caused the machine to restart everytime it was chosen, and the former took the system restore window.
Upon doing this it managed to get me back to the desktop and everything seemed fine. I tried installing the drivers again and it led to the same problem.
By this point I decided to try and reinstall windows from my USB stick. I performed the first section of this, it started on its own as its supposed to, and began trying to complete the installation. At the point where it said "Setup is starting services", a warning appeared saying:
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error. Installation cannto proceed. To install Windows click OK to restart the computer and the installation."
Sure enough, clicking OK leads me to exactly the same message.
After getting sick of this I tried installing W7 for a third time and exactly the same thing happened. Now I am stuck with the choice of 3 Windows 7's on boot, all three leading to the same error.
I am completely lost, can anyone help?

Within the last month, I have been getting random blue screen of death error messages in which the computer shuts down to prevent damage. The computer boots up fine without any problems. The blue screen that I see contains the same information each time.

This morning I go to turn on the monitor to check my email and I see a windows setup screen with this error message:"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounted an unexpected error. To install windows click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."I have browsed some questions and answers about this error message but from all I have seen all individuals with this problem encountered it while they were reformatting or reinstalling windows 7 on a new computer. This just randomly happened to a working computer out of the blue. I'm not certain if there was a power surge but we do have surge protectors and our other 2 computers work just fine.I tried one solution of hitting Shift+F10 typing into the black command box "regedit" then going into the folders and changing the childcompletion from 1 to 3 in order to install windows. The problem is will uninstalling windows again wipe out my hard drives?

Apr 5, 2012my laptop wouldn't start up and came up with an error. I went back to windows when it was first purchased so I wouldn't lose my files too. Jun 26, 2010I was installing Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit onto my PC, and it went great at first, but when it came to "starting services", it popped up a box and said "the computer restared unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error..." so I pressed "OK" then, the computer restarted and resumed to "starting services" and wants me to click ok for restarting...i can do nothing, cuz when the PC starts it shows only the DELL thing and straight into the installation....

Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

Jul 25, 2011I am a computer musician using a PC running Windows 7. My problems began when I was working on a new track in Abelton Live 8. I had a decent size project running when Abelton crashed. It was late so I just shut down my PC and went to bed. The next afternoon, everything booted up fine. I loaded Abelton and the project I was working on. As soon as the project opened I got a blue screen. I tried restarting my computer and this time Windows would not even boot. I received an error message saying BAD_POOL_CALLER. I restarted in Safe Mode and Windows was able to boot, but an error box came up saying that it could not load NVCP.dll. I contacted my computer guy and he said that file is for my NVidia drivers and that I should uninstall them, try to boot and if that worked then reinstall them with the latest version. I go into the Control Panel and try to Remove Program but the NVidia driver will not uninstall. There are 5 drivers listed for NVidia and 4 of them will uninstall by themselves, but one of them is completely unresponsive. Every time I select it and hit uninstall it just sits there and nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it gives me an error every time it begins to unpack the zip file so I can't do that either. I've tried in both Safe Mode and Normal but I keep getting blue screen crashes as I'm trying to fix the problem.

Jul 10, 2012when i'm on my computer, sometimes it just crashes and turns white or gray. the last time this happened, i had a bluetooth adapter (asus usb-bt211) plugged in from earlier in the day. i unplugged it and the screen immediately turned pitch black, presumably off.when this happens, i have absolutely no control over my computer. i cant open task manager or ctrl +alt+delete. i've searched this and so far i've only gotten that its a ram problem, but i don't think it is in my case. i say this because i have 8gb and i constantly have task manager open and i've never seen over 50% used (except when on a game or using something like a screen recorder, and it has never crashed while doing those things)the weird thing is.. and this may just be a coincidence, but Internet has been open every time it has crashed (10+ times).

Sep 8, 2012I've been intermittently getting blue screens with the stop error 0x00000124, which the internet told me is either a driver or hardware issue. I've run memtest for 5 passes on both sticks of RAM and there were no errors. I do overclock my CPU, but my system is water cooled and the temp is always stable. Mar 7, 2012I recently upgraded my motherboard,cpu and ram and did a format and a fresh install of Win 7 ultimate 64, well as the title suggests i can no longer play anything because it blue screens at any given chance. mainly error code 3b but i have had the odd 4e ,edit: there is also a 050 error now aswell.

Jul 11, 2011I was checking emails today and I got a blue screen of death on Windows 7. I didn't take a screen capture, however the error message had to do with winSys32.exe, and then the usually memory dump messages. I rebooted into safe mode and tried running Spybot, but it came up with an error, so I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes anti-malware. It found 5 problems and I deleted them. I then ran Avast and it found no infections. Figuring it was a malware problem, I rebooted. Now Windows won't load. It gets to the Welcome screen, then goes to a blank black screen, with a mouse cursor. The cursor can be moved. I powered down the computer, pulled the battery, and booted it back up. This time I got a black screen, saying my disks had to be checked for inconsistencies. I ran the scan and it found no errors. Windows started to load, then stopped at the blank black screen again. I have my laptop set up with Ubuntu 11.04 on a sperate partion and I have not any problems with it, so I think the issue is related just to Windows, not hardware. My laptop is an Asus g72g, with an Intel Core 2 duo processor @ 2.53ghz, 6 gigs of ram and an Nvidia graphic card. Other then adding Ubuntu I have not done any upgrades to the system. Windows 7 was a installed at the factory, not an upgrade, and I haven't added any software in 6 months or so.
