Save Picture Default Subdirectory?

Previous versions of Windows had a "sticky" default file "save as" subdirectory. e.g. when saving a group of photos from an email to a particular subdirectory you only had to point to that subdir in the first save. subsequent saves would by default go to that same subdir. In Win 7, everytime I do a "save as" for a picture (jpg, bmp, etc.) the default subdir is the PICTURE LIBRARY subdir. Is there a way to make Win7 remember the last subdir saved to so that you don't have to drill down through multiple subdir to get to the last subdir you accessed?

Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.

I am the administrator (and only user) on my new Windows 7 laptop, so I have moved my library folders (picture, music and documents) from smaller c: partition to large D: partition, I have moved all my pictures from my backup USB drive to my library, then I installed Canon DPP editing software (similar to photoshop), now the funny part starts, when I edit a picture and trying to save the new edited picture to the same folder where the original picture resides (My Pictures/Vacation) im getting a message that I'm not authorized to save it there and need to selet another location !!! WHY ? I'm the administrator...Can anyone shed some light on this.

I am looking to delete the information from when I save a picture from the net. Like when you click picture save as and it opens a new box and you type in the new file name...The file name is what i'm trying to delete. I tried cleaning the browser and used ccleaner but didn't help.

I have Windows 7 64bit and downloaded some updates today and Windows 7 SP3. Since then I can't open the "My Documents" folder I had on my Desktop. I don't get any messages. It just won't open. Also on my taskbar I have a shortcut that shows my Libraries. I can access the Music and Video Libraries when this opens. But not the Documents or Photos one's. I get a click sound, but they won't open. I also can't save any picture project am I am working on in the photo's library. It just says I can't save there.

I have an HP laptop with Windows 7. The little square account picture that shows up at the password page and then again on the top of the start menu is a blue background with an HP in the middle.I changed the picture just to try it and now when I go back to change the picture back to the blue HP it is no longer showing in the list of pics to use. I know it is still on the computer but don't know where.Does anyone know where that original picture might be located?

I am trying to set my default file save location to my Desktop. I searched the web and found solutions but I must be doing something wrong.For instance, I recently saved a Notepad file to My Documents / example_folder. Then I thought I had set the default to Desktop by the following:Start > [my_username] > Documents > Properties, highlighting Desktop, clicking "Set save location" so that the checkmark is at Desktop, clicking Apply, clicking OK.So the next time I save a Notepad file, it defaults to the last folder I saved in ( example_folder ), not Desktop.How do I get the default Save File to be Desktop?

I have two drives on this laptop, which came with it when I bought it. It's a C: and D: drive. My D: drive is much larger than my C: - I have 350 GB on my D: drive, but whenever I download or save something - and many times it's done automatically - it wants to save to my C: drive, which is almost out of space. I wind up having to manually move over files from C to D before I can even save something in order to free up space. I'd like to change settings somehow to where whenever I save something, it's saved to my larger D: drive.

I found some scripts that can move the sub-folders or files to a specific location but that's not what I'm after. Here's my situation:Folder 1Subfolder Afiles.xxxFolder 2Subfolder Bfiles.yyyFolder 3filez.zzzetc etcI'd like to move files.xxx to Folder 1, files.yyy to Folder 2, and leave all files.zzz alone. There's no consistent naming pattern in the subfolder names or contents and the file formats vary. Is it possible to script this?

How can i make IE9 save web pages in a default format So, anyways, is there a registry hack anyone has made for IE 9 that can force IE 9 to stop choosing mht as the default format? I am sick, have been for years, of switching it to htm. It's also noteable that more webpages on IE are able to saved in mht form, rather than htm (and firefox can save any ANY page in either format). It's as if Bill Gates had a mht fetish and decided we should all go by his ways.I'm using 64 bit windows.

I want to save the Default Gateways in Advance TCP/IP Settings for my network adapter. I used the following sequence to set the values:
1. Open Adapter Settings (LAN Properties).
2. Select IPv4 and click on Properties.
3. Click Advance.
4. In the Popup select to add Default Gateways for both my Wired and Wireless network.
5. Click OK to close all open windows.
When I again open the settings, the changes in Default Gateways are all gone. The default gateway for both my wired and wireless network are same and both are connected to internet. I want to prefer wired over wireless whenever it is connected. I already tried changing Interface Metrics with no use at all. I searched the internet and got the information to select the default gateways with proper metrics.

I used to have folders with a display of pictures on the front. Now I have plain folders, when opened, they have an icon to click and the a large picture shows up. I would like to open the folder and see the thumbprints immediately. Toshiba Satellite running Win 7.

I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

I realize that it takes 8-10 seconds to open up a picture when i want to click on it to view it. I do not have such problem with Vista and Window XP. Is this a new problem??

My issue is that i would like to be able to have media center audio play only through my tv and not through my pc main speaker system, tv is hooked through hdmi output on graphics card, speaker system through 5.1 output on motherboard. I have tried the audiorenderupdater extender but all that does is set default audio out for entire system, so when itunes is used or game is played on computer audio goes through tv. I would like all system noises, media player, and game audio to run through pc speakers and simultaneously all media center audio (recorded/live tv) to go through tv audio, so i can watch sports center while playing mass effect and have audio from sportscenter on tv audio from mass effect on pc speakers.
Also is there a way to separate media player's actions from media center's. For example if you are laying music in media player and then open media center and play a tv show, music playback stops, not a big deal just like media player better than itunes and would like to be able to watch tv in media center while playing music in media player rather than itunes

I bought a new computer last week & it's pre-installed with Windows 7. When I first put in my Mini TV DVB-T USB stick, Windows 7 found drivers for it and WMC recognised it and gave me instant TV to watch. However, just this last 2 days it all went sour. I still have the channels listed but on each one I get sound and just a black screen. No idea what changed, perhaps a Windows update as you get heaps of these when running a new system. Anyway I have tried running the USB drivers again and re scanning my channels but the result is still the same. It's so annoying knowing it has worked but now it won"t. Here's my system stats.
