View 1 RepliesI'm going to college soon and so I thought I should bring my laptop with me. In preparation, I turned on the laptop and went into my admin desktop. Here's what I did:(1) Updated Java to Java 6 Update 32 (2) Uninstalled old version of Java, which was Java 6 Update 20 - by Sun Microsystems but was later owned by Oracle(3) Uninstalled some trusted useless programs from 2 years ago(4) Uninstalled AVG that was installed 2 years ago(5) Installed/Updated Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)(6) Ran a quick scan with no threats(7) Right now, I am installing 68 updates for Windows 7Now, here's the problem..While I was scanning with MSE, I noticed my command prompt popped up for no particular reason and then it disappeared for a split second. It went too fast, I couldn't read what it had said on the prompt.

WHY ? I'm the administrator...Can anyone shed some light on this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPrevious versions of Windows had a "sticky" default file "save as" subdirectory. e.g. when saving a group of photos from an email to a particular subdirectory you only had to point to that subdir in the first save. subsequent saves would by default go to that same subdir. In Win 7, everytime I do a "save as" for a picture (jpg, bmp, etc.) the default subdir is the PICTURE LIBRARY subdir. Is there a way to make Win7 remember the last subdir saved to so that you don't have to drill down through multiple subdir to get to the last subdir you accessed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 home and have run into a bit of an issue. I have a program on my computer that runs through the internet. At my home, it connects fine and I am able to run it without any issues, but I go to school and connect to their WiFi and it stalls on the connecting prompt. Everything else I run and the internet works fine, I have re-installed the program and made sure it wasn't blocked from public access on firewall.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new PC and got windows 7 64 bit up and running. However, I can't seem to install programs to my SSD. When I try to install a program, I get this message "You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission," but I'm the only who uses this PC and I checked to make sure I was the admin and I am.
I also have two drives if that means anything. I tried to install the programs to my C drive, which is my SSD. Installing programs to my D drive seems to work fine, which is my HDD. My SSD has the OS on it.
I have a desktop with Windows 7 64bit prof. and a laptop with the same. I have setup the homegroup and I am able to access all files on the laptop from the desktop and vice-versa. My problem is, my wife who uses the desktop wants to save new documents in the laptop which I use when in the office. for example: wife got an email on the desktop with an attached document that she wanted to save in the 'my documents' folder on my laptop. So when she selects save as and then selects the location on my laptop through the homegroup connection she gets the error message saying you need permission to to this, we tried it the other way by trying to save a document onto the desktop from the laptop and got the same message.
I am not an expert by any means with this sort of thing so if the replies could be as simple and clear as possible, cheers.
I searched on internet to find a free software that can save the internet consumption of each computer on my network and I didn't find anything.
Is there a software that can achieve this? I am not looking for a bandwidth monitor that show your consumption in KB/s. I want something that show your consumption per day. Like 2GB first day, 1GB second day, etc...
