Restore A Disk Image From Windows 7 32-bit To Windows 7 64-bit On A Different Machine

I am wondering if it is possible to restore a backup disk image taken from a laptop running Windows 7 32-bit to a different laptop running Windows 7 64-bit and I haven't been able to find anything about this. Does anyone know if this is possible? The machine that I need to backup is a Dell XPS M1330 (upgraded to W7 32-bit), and the machine that I would be restoring the image to is a Dell Latitude E5430 (brand new, running W7 64-bit). I found a program called EaseUS Todo Backup, and purchasing the "Workstation" or higher version would include support for a "Restore to dissimilar hardware" feature.
We are a small office, 5 or 6 computers. Only 3 are every day computers, other 3 are "server", admin and extra computer. The three in use every day are new win7pro x64 machines. Our server is xp pro (32bit) with a shared drive as our "server" drive. We access this for all our job related materials, etc. There is no network setup, just shared folders among our workgroup. we just got the new win7pro machines setup and are using Windows Backup function to create system images to the "server" computer in a shared folder. We've got the images created on 2 computers, and can see the .vhd files and associated folder structure. When testing to see if we could restore from these images, we got the error "Cannot locate backup sets on machine, etc."I moved the backup folder to the root of the drive, and made sure it was WindowsImageBackup or whatever the default is, but still could not find it.
I have a compac (HP) laptop (CQ61-41us notebook), running WIN7 home premium, 64 bit. Aside from the normal file backup via the western digital software, I have several windows 7 generated iso images of my laptop stored on my external WD drive. Using windows repair disk, my computer does not recognize the external drive to access the disk images. It just asks to insert the last disk into optical drive. My images are on a folder on my external drive. There is no option to navigate to it! This is the first time I've needed to restore an image, and I can't access them! This should be an easy operation that could be started in a few minutes. I have been screwing around with this for more than 24 hours!
Tomorrow my new Samsung netbook will be delivered, Windows 7 Starter is preinstalled. I haven't had a netbook before, and I haven't used Windows 7 before.
I'd like to make an image of the HDD immediately after unpacking. I need to play around with Windows 7 and I probably want to remove bloatware. I may even want to install Ubuntu Netbook Edition. But in any case, I'd like to able to restore the original, clean HDD image.
What would be the best strategy to do this? Make an image (using eg. Partition Image) before even starting up Windows 7? Make an image after running Windows 7 once (perhaps it needs to register / validate / activate)? I do not want to get into trouble with multiple activation.
Using preinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP 6813w Pavilion. The original hard drive, a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1Tb crashed.1) System Recovery discs was made along with a System Recovery with System Image disc.2) A more current System Image was made on an external hard drive.The Hitachi was replaced with the same model. Checked bios to make sure it was installed correctly.Under System Recovery, Image Restore, Select a System Image Backup there is nothing in the table to choose from as far as a source (disc drive or external drive).A) System Recovery (3 discs) has the HP preinstall file folder on the 3rd disc but is not read by the System Recovery program.B) Under System Restore, Image Restore, Advanced, it asks for a network or driver to be installed. That opens up the directory of C: which is the external hard drive. Under WindowsImageBackup the computer name is identified followed by three entries:[CODE]It seems to me the Recovery and System Restore discs are not functional. Am not a technical person but I have taken this as far as I know how at this point.Printed out all the instructions from HP and Microsoft to follow step by step but the failed discs will not allow me to move forward.
I need a little help figuring this out. I made a backup image a while back on my network. Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.
I have A brand new hard drive.I also have an image of win 7.I was using the usb dvd tool,but on this computer the Setup from USB freezes at Starting windows.I also have a fresh installation of WIN7 in a VM in my netbook.How would i Transfer it to my HDD?
Been awhile since I've been around here. I'm stuck with a new problem. My desktop's OS hard drive crashed/is crashing. After testing several pieces of hardware and reseating numerous items, I got lucky and was able to boot into safe mode, once. My event viewer is full of disk errors. Pages and pages of disk errors. *Side note: Sure would've been nice if Windows would have said something */End Side note* So I have a Windows System Image and Windows Backup on a secondary drive that appears healthy. But I'm just curious what I'm looking at when my new hard drive gets here.Has anyone ever used the Windows 7 Image Backup/Restore utility? Can you use the image on a different hard drive or just when repairing the original? Will my programs be saved or just data? Just curious questions. All of my Google searches are bringing up reviews about the utility from the Win 7 RC days so I'm not real sure what I'm getting myself into here.
I had a hard drive fail, and I want to recover my recent backup/image from that failed drive, an image which was created with the Win 7 backup tool found in Control Panel. It's on an external hard drive. I of course want to recover it to a drive known to be good, such as the one that's in my computer now.If I have XP on said drive, can I make a partition and restore the 7 image to that new partition? Or would I not be able/allowed to have two Windows OS-es on the same drive, even on different partitions? It's XP Home and 7 Home Premium x64.

I created an image backup with Windows 7. It created a large VHD file and appeared tocomplete correctly. I copied the image to my thumb drive and tried to do a restore. I can find the thumb drive and browse it and all the files are there but if I try to do a restore it doesn't find the restore image. I have got a license for Acronis True Image Home 2010. To my surprise, I don't like it unlike many other folks who swear on this software.Acronis creates a backup image in .tib or .zip format whereas Windows 7 Backup and Restore creates system image in an encrypted folder (with all files and folders NOT formatted). In either case, backup image becomes ready for "restore". So why keep Acronis? Well, Acronis can backup custom files and folders unlike Windows 7 default program (and, Windows 7 does it, too), however, Acronis does "Create full path (includes drive letter)" which I simply dislike. Fbackup4 (free license), on the other hand, does not do it but does the job the way I want, i.e., creates files and folders the way they are organized (without including drive letter, and without zipping or making some unusual file format). So for data backup, Fbackup4 is better, IMO. I remember, WinXP creates crazy backup file format like Acronis does.Paragon Migrate OS to SSD SE (I have license for this, too) is special in the sense that it can copy the entire OS drive/partition to a blank drive. Very good for drive upgrade.
i been thinking of upgrading to windows 8 but i might have to go back to windows 7 if things don't' work out as its a possibility.my question is if i return to windows 7 will making a system restore image install all my drivers i need once i go back to windows 7 going back to windows 7 with re-installation DVD
I had mt boot drive fail and replaced it with a drive of the same size, tried to use the disk image I created 2 months ago to recover my boot drive with and all I get is an error telling me there are no drives that it can use (not the exact msg.) to restore to. so it seems to be a useless feature if it won't work.
I periodically create a disk image of a RAID 1 Volume consisting of two 500 GB SATA drive containing my Windows 7 system and data, and a RAID 0 Volume consisting of of three 320 GB SATA drives containing my Windows Vista. I tried to do a recovery from the disk image, but my VISTA volume does not restore. Is there anyway to restore both volumes? The recovery indicates the both volumes are to be restored, both only the Windows 7 volume is restored.
I don't know if this is a harware issue with my SSD, disk controller (motherboard), power supply or something else, but depending on what I'm doing, the computer will operate for a few minutes then freeze and eventually reboot itself. When it reboots, I get the "Bootmgr is Missing" message until I cycle power a couple of times. I've tried booting from the Windows 7 repair disk and typing "bootrec /fixboot", but the problem eventually returns.I can't get a full image update from Acronis because it hangs in the middle of the image, even if I say to ignore bad sectors. If I run the HDTune diagnostic on the SSD, it seems to always stop after about 3 minutes and always in the same spot, at 15,432MB. Is this a problem with the SSD or the disk controller?

I am trying to restore my computer because it launches into system recovery. After I get to the recovery options I tried to do system restore but it tells me there isn't enough space on the disk.
I think I must have lost Windows Installer using Revo uUninstaller and messed up the registry somehow. I'm a bit afraid to use the Win 7 repair disk 32 bit I created; I might mess things up further. I've tried to download a 32 bit installer update to no avail; it says it's not compatible with my version of Windows (Professional, SP1). Anyhow, does the Win 7 repair disk have a fix for the lost Win 7 installer? If so, I might give it a try if you can provide some guidance in doing so. I have everything backed up in Carbonite, Seagate external drive, Acronis True Image, memory sticks, etc.
Has anyone tried to burn a System Image (with Windows Backup and Restore) onto a BD-R disk?I have 52.5 GB used on my C drive (Windows 7 x64). I have a clean install, with windows updates, and it would be phenomenal if I could use my WH12LS30 (LG) internal blu-ray burner for the System Image creation, since I only have 1 harddrive.When I try a BD-R (and this is my 1st try at System Image burn) , I see "The media needs to be formatted before it can be used...". Just didn't sound right to procede.
I have an HP laptop with Windows 7 home premium. When using the HP Recovery manager to create system restore disks, everythong goes ok until I get through the point where it tells me that I will need 4 DVDs and that I should insert one. After inserting the disk, the drive spins for a coouple of seconds, then I get the messages:"There was a problem burning this disk.""There was an error burning this disk. The disk might no longer be usable."I retried several times, inserting different blank DVD-R disks, but always get the same result
I currently have a windows seven cd disk that I purchased from retail and recently I have tried to see if I could use the data partition that came on my laptop in order to recover my pc when I tried to launch system recovery from the bios it would just boot to windows normally. instead of trying to start up system recovery using a partition I wanna know how do I make a partition on my pc, and how do I turn that partition into a recovery partition using my purchased copy of windows 7 that would all me to be able to use that partition instead of a disk in order to reinstall windows.
My laptop which is a Asus GXG72 came with restore disks surprisingly, I guess it was right before they stopped putting them in the box. I never needed them till my harddrive started making noise. At first I didn't realize I had the restore disks, so I tried making my own using the program my computer had. It would always fail at the end. I Ended up making a image of my harddrive through windows not realizing I actually need a copy of windows to reload it. I ended up finding my restore disk and figure my worries were over.... Apparently it was corrupt it only partially loaded windows onto the machine, I managed somehow to tweak it enough to recognize my usb drive so that I could restore my computer to the old image. From then on it blue screened every once in a while, but it worked. I am having problems with games now and I'm not sure if its hardware or software related. I wanna try restoring the computers main files and see if that works if not just wiping it completely. Problem is I don't have working restore disks, can't make them and have no copy of windows 7. Is their anything I can do beside buy a copy of windows 7? Which I feel is retarded considering I have one technically.
i have Lan, all computers are windows 7 proffisional and one machine is windows 2003 , workgroup . i made shared folder in windows2003 , some computers can access the shared folder and others can not.when i open network , i see the 2003 computer, when i try to access it , it asked for user name and password. the user is administrator for all , when i enter the user and password from many computers in the lan it is work correctly but in one machine with the same settings its says , you have no permession to access this computer.
I am running windows 7 home premium, upgraded from Vista. This is a Dell inspiron 1525. I have a recovery partition on the hard drive (E). When I startup, choose F8, choose "repair my computer" I have no option to restore from the recovery partition. There is no "dell data safe / recovery" option. I have heard this is due to my upgrading to win7. Two questions: Am I right in believing that the problem was caused from the upgrade? (even though the recovery partition was untouched).....2nd Question: if I first format the C: drive will it cure the problem?
I am installing Mac on my PC and that requires me to reformat and wipe my partitions. I made a backup of my whole windows partition and am storing that on a separate PC. When I install Mac I will have 2 partitions.Here is my question:Is there any way that I can restore my Windows backup (VHD) to a specific partition on my drive without wiping my whole drive? i have changed my hard disk on my dell inspiron 1440 but and i have install windows 7 ultimate x64, but when i activate my windows, my laptop does not boot. its probably about my bios since i have install a new hard disk and i need to restore my factory image
