i am having vista in my drive D: and windows 7 in drive C: and i want to use only windows 7 only..so can you tel me a way to remove vista so that i dont loose any of my data in windows 7 and which is less complicated too.
I have two drives (C and D) with Vista on one and Win 7 on the other (not sure if they're actual drives or partitions of a single drive, how do I tell?). I am dual booting and never use Vista. Starting to need the disk space and want to delete Vista. Is this difficult in this scenario?
I built a new PC with Windows 7 and ironically my old PC's psu died just as I finished the new build and before I could transfer data! So, I took the old HDD and slapped it in the new PC, hoping to copy files and Opera's bookmarks and passwords, etc.I can't figure out how to do this- Windows Easy Transfer only works with two PCs, and right-clicking the files (which I can see) does not give the option to "send to" the new HDD. I then burned a small file to a disc, and right-clicked on it and there is still no option to send to the new HDDCan't PCs transfer files between internal HDDs
I have just bought a laptop with Windows 7.On my main computer which is Vista I have the calendar set up to appear as soon as I switch on so all my appointments are there. On the laptop with Windows 7 the calendar seems to be within windows mail live. Is it possible to set it up as on my desk computer? Also can I transfer all the data(dates I have fixed) from the Vista to Windows 7 calendar
My minister has an hp laptop that uses Vista and I have suggested that she should convert to System Seven. So my question is this, how can it be done without losing any data, preferably and can it be done and have it run effectively with no bugs.

i want to remove all data from my c: drive which has win 7 ultimate without removing my os and my d: drive which has win8 pro + data should not be affected.
My computer originally came with Vista. I began to have issues with navigating in "My Computer", as it would often freeze and make it nearly impossible to use at times. I received a free upgrade to Windows 7, which I had hoped would solve my issues. It did not, unfortunately. Is there any way that I could remove all the Vista files from my computer
Just before the system crashed, a full backup was made using the Vista Backup and Restore feature. The PC is now dead. The owner is buying a new laptop with W-7.Can the backup that was saved on a portable drive, 12 Gb's worth, be restored to a new 7 machine?
Recently i bought a windows7 Ultimate, and i want to install it on my laptop. , my laptop working with vista. My hard disk drive has two partitions. one is OS(C: ) and another is called Recovery(D: ).my question is: How can i remove Recovery driver (which is related to vista) and install a completely new Windows 7 on my laptop?
I originally had Vista on my computer when purchased. The computer had C:, D:,. The HP recovery was on D: with everything else on C:I deleted the Data from the D:recovery disc as I had no more use for Vista and most of the programs that came from HP would not work with Windows 7. I have recovery disc if I do need them at a later date to reinstall Vista.I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on C: This left D: partition empty. I have most recently used D which is about 13 GB for4 abackup of some of my programs.I also have another 640 GB hard disc which is G: that I use as backup for my windows system.I would like to do away with the D: partition because I can also put all my program backups on G: as well. How do I delete the D: partition and incorporate that space into the C: partition? I think I know but am not sure of myself and would like advice
Need to remove all personal info stored befoer doing so and would like to return pcu to its original factory settings w/o damaging or removing important programs. DELL STUDIO XPS 7100 W/WINDOWS 7 ULTIATE HOME AND KAPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY PROGRAM. Can anyone offer some good advice or referrals
I purchased an internal bay that supports 3 removable SATA hard drives. I had 2 hard drives (1-OS, 1-Data). When I installed the unit, one the first boot, I could see both drives. One the second boot, It had formed a RAID 0 to show it as one large drive. Reason for install was to have 2 different boot drives that would utilize the remaining drive as a data disc. Now when I try to decouple them, it says I will lose all data.
I was wondering... If I move my video, music, my documents folders etc. from my boot drive (ie C drive) to say a storage drive (D Drive), is the data completely removed from the boot drive or is it still there waiting to be erased next time a new file is written to it?
I have activated my Windows 7 which is on a separate disk drive from the old predecessor, Vista 64. Can I remove this older disk and repair the boot using the upgrade DVD? Do you need a full retail version to do that? Do I have to keep the Hard Drive that the old Vista was on forever ? And, can I use that Vista on another computer?
I just want to make sure that installing 7 as an upgrade 'over' Vista removes all of Vista's operating system, particularly the registry. Is this a correct assumption? I've got some registry entries for magicjack that I can't remove with Regedit due to permission problems and since my "7 upgrade" is due in a few days I don't want to mess with trying to remove them again.
I recently did an install of Windows 7 (a clean install) and accidenlty selected to dual boot somehow (I chose to install 7 on the D drive instead of C, where Vista is installed)
My headphone jack is broken. Sometimes if the headset is in just right you get sound for a second but then you l loose it. What do I need to do to get it fixed?
I am dual booting Vista and Windows7 RC 7100. They are both on the same Hard Drive on different partitions. I have made the decision to stick with the new OS (Windows7) and give Vista the boot. So I want to get rid of the extra partition and revert to a single OS (Windows7).
I don't want to reformat the whole hard drive and completely re-install the windows7 operating system. I want to remove Vista from the dual boot menu and keep windows7. Then I want to format the Vista Partition. How can I do this and keep my present installation of Windows7 without having to reinstall Windows7?
I know I'm in Windows 7 Forum. But Vista Forums does not have a Customization Subforum. I'm just wondering, since you guys are into the shell internals, if anyone has come across a hack to get rid of the Folders section of the Navigation Pane in Vista??
I know I can drag it down to the bottom. But it won't stay there. I move to another location in Explorer and it insists on expanding that stupid Folders section cutting into the space for the Favorites.
Some might remember I posted a few days ago about installing Windows 7 (64bit) separately on this same comp (different hard drive) to test what drivers worked for the devices I had, in particular the Canon scanner.
Anyway it worked, and I booted into Windows 7 64b fine - but I had a few issues getting back into 32-bit one (64bit one became the active boot. even after i used diskpart and bcdedit etc.
Anyway, I got the 32-bit install to again load as the default (and deleted the 64-bit partition). BUT, I keep getting the Vista booting screen - i.e. the small green loading bar instead of the elaborate "Starting Windows'. I then put in the Windows 7 dvd in and went to repair the install (to try & get the Windows 7 boot screen back), but it wouldnt even find the OS install to repair it.
So basically, its back to the 32bit Windows 7 install fine - but with the older Vista loading screen. Any ideas?
i found that my computer stopped getting access to web browsing, only afects the browser (firefox, iexp), but every other aplication thet needs network, they go fine. I saw here a solucion by running cmd and make winsock reset, it worked well, but just until i restart the machine then have to winsock reset again.I recently instaled sp1 for Windows 7, i did restart the computer a lot that day and never had this issue. Router? Avast 6?
I have Windows 7 RC installed on two different computers and this has happened on both.
I'll install a program I use a lot, pin it to the taskbar and some of the icons will lose their original icon after awhile. It doesn't seem to effect the operation of the program or the shortcut to the program, it's just sort of annoying to have to curse over the pinned program to know what it is, instead of just being able to tell by its icon. The programs this happens to are not the same from machine to machine, either. If that makes sense.
Has anyone else come across this and were you able to remedy the issue?
My ativa 611405 Wired Optical Mouse no longer works on my computer. I know the mouse is not broken because it works on my other computer. It stopped working when I updated my Windows 7. My laptop does not even find the mouse through the USB port.
Like my subject says, my comp won't start up and can't fix things automatically cause the Internet isnt hooked up. I'm worried that everything I have for school and music will be lost..
