View 0 Repliesive been backing up data on my computer only to open up recycle bin the other day and find most of the files missing. I was very confused. Then i realised i had recently deleted 2 or 3 large files in size of 2 or more gb and that the recycle bins capacity is 4gb Has recycle bin deleted my older items because there wasn't enough space? I need to find or restore the old files. Im guessing the recycle bin dir in c: has now been modified showing the current status. Can i recover any older recycle bin dir or any files which list the files that were in recycle bin before is was modified and deleted old files? I have tried free undelete programs but they all only show the current recycle bin contents, i need to find the old contents. I also mucked around with some security settings of recycle bin and corrupted it. I had to empty it. Does this mean a new recycle bin file has been made? How can i restore the old contents.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can delete items but when I go to the recyle bin to view or recover there are no files there. At the bottom it repost 0 files evn though I know they're there. I donot have it set up to skip the recycle bin and just delete. When I go to "empty recycle bin" even though it reports 0 files it says do you want to delete all of these items. Sometimes it goes as far as to say " these 3 or 4 or whatever items. reporting that ther are files there but not viewable. Obviously this makes recovery impossible. I've tried deleting the $recycle.bin file and let windows put it back and then reboot to no avail. It just puts it back broken as before. Ive tried running command promt as administrator with the following command: C:windowssystem32>rd /s /q C:$Recycle.bin [then it enter] to no avail. It just says "system 32 is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file" No matter what Ive tried it just doesn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA strange problem with specific .wav files. Several audio files brought into Adobe Audition 1.0. Edited and saved in two different folders. Several but not all exhibit the problem but not all. Start WE; select folder with wav files in question. The directory list field on top immediately starts with a green bar slowly expanding towards right. Next to the cursor arrow there is the "busy" rotating circle. Cannot get any properties on the wav file; however, the two docx files in same folder can be copied, properties shown and basically seem ok for use.
Noticed that the data definitions above the listing for the two error folders are:
Name...#....artist.....albums
Whereas for all other folders it is:
name......date modified.....type....size.
All other wav files in other folders appear as they should and can be processed like any other file. So it is only several of the 10 Audition 1.0 edited audio files that have created the problem. I cannot delete these files. While the green bar is expanding to the right and when it completes its extension still have the "wave" running along the bar. When I try to delete an offending file I get another window "Preparing to recycle" window with "Discovering items". "More Details" show: Name: is blank; From: is blank; Time remaining: calculating; Items remaining: calculating; Speed: calculating. I let this run for 11 minutes and it just kept "calculating".
Another "interesting" thing is after the first time I encounter this problem, close WE and then bring up WE again the left panel shows only Favorites and Library (no computer list). When the cursor is in this panel I get the rotating circle. In any other panel, only the cursor. I can "place the Library in another window" and now with two windows I get the normal favorites, library and computer in one of them. If I restart the PC I can again start WE ok and run ok if I do not select a "bad" folder. Same problem exists if I start the PC in "safe mode". How to delete the wav files causing the problem?
I have a problem when I try to delete some folders from "C:UsersMYUSER". Here it's a cap from that folder: I want to delete folders like Search, Contacts, Favourites and Tracing, but when I turn on my computer appears again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWonder if anyone knows of some freeware software that can permanently delete selected files/folders?..rather than just sending them to the recycle bin because we all know they don't really get deleted....just get made invisible so they dont show up anymore and still actualy take up some disk space.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow do I stop a Windows 7 library from displaying files that I have deleted from my computer?More precisely, how do stop them from showing up on my flat-screen TV which is connected to my home network with DLNA (which is just a fancy abbreviation for a TV that can read audio and video files from your computer) This is driving me completely bonkers. I've spent hours trying so many solutions from forums, I can't even keep track. I even used a registry hack the disables libraries entirely and the files *still* show up.It gets worse...Files that are completely *deleted* from my computer show up in the folder as viewed on the TV, though they don't play.Files that have been *renamed and moved to non-shared, non-library folders* will still play on the TV!I also did a total reset on the TV back to factory defaults, in case it had some sort of cache. Didn't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOver time I delete lots of files and folders. I usually use the 'Control-Delete' trick to "permanently" delete the files. However my understanding is that although this method may remove the file reference from the Windows file catalog, they files still may exist on the hard drive. And appropriate tools can recover these lost files. For example, using Recuva, one can see lots of references to files that I had previously deleted using the 'Control-Delete' trick. I would like to delete all of these references. Is there a tool that can scan the system and delete all references to these deleted files? I tried using Ccleaner, but this tool does not delete these references (unless I am using it incorrectly?).

Upon booting up, i tried to open any program shortcuts on the desktop but multiple windows prompt me whether i want to delete the shortcuts. Any files or folders i clicked it happens too. Hence halting up the system. At first i thought it was some kind of virus or malware, so booted to safe mode to have it scan. But surprisingly, the problem still persist in safe mode. So i ran some live cds and managed to clean the system. Booted up normally and the problem's still there. Did last known good config, system restore, checked and updated the drivers but to no avail. So i resort to the last method. Re install windows

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want something on the context menu that:1. I can right click on empty folder space within the folder2. Context menu says "delete folder to recycle bin"3. The folder and all its contexts disappears and therefore so does the window I just used to delete itYou can do this with filemenu tools, but only for PERMANENT delete. I think this is too dangerous. Also sometimes I regret deleting something immediately. I just do it out of convenience. I have looked into the custom commands of filemenu tools and it does not facilitate this action.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Asus K53E-BBR17 laptop a few days ago. After I got through and did a clean install of Windows 7, I went and did all of my customizations, and I tried to modify the right-click menu using registry edits that I found online. They would add to the registry successfully, but would not appear in the right-click menu. I also tried to delete the graphic preferences, which worked, but after rebooting, they reappeared again. I've searched the internet for a few days and have had no success in solving this.Steps I've taken so far:Clean install Windows 7 (twice)Modify permissions in both regedit itself and individual registry itemsSpecs:Asus K53E-BBR17 LaptopCore i5-2450M processorIntel HD3000 Graphics

3) Are there any Win 7 build-in tools (Command line or GUI)?
I set WMC to only keep a certain number of episodes, (10 or less) then to keep 'Until space needed." However, it keeps recording episodes. For some, I have 30 or more episodes. I have to delete them manually by leaving WMC and doing it through Windows explorer. How do I set WMC to only keep the number of episodes I specify? I have a Ceton infiniTV tuner card, if it matters.

I also have a new WD Caviar Black HD that I haven't connected to the build yet.I'm not good with software or file management and I could also use some info about how to get all my data and jpegs etc. off of my older WD HD from my old build. I need lessons. I should take a course someplace.
I set a restore point 2 days ago manually. Today I have found it has been deleted and I may have to reformat because of this.I set my drive to hold 1.15gb in size for restore points. The current restore point is a mere 200mb yet it STILL decided to delete the old ones. Previously I've checked only to find 0 restore points despite the settings being adequate. It seems restore points simply don't work on my OS. They show up for a handful of hours and are automatically deleted (even the manually made ones).
