View 2 RepliesI want to backup my computer on an external hard drive, which must be clean before the backup. There is one folder that I cannot delete. It is a folder with many subfolders. I cannot access the files in any of these subfolders. The message I get is: "Do want to permanently delete this folder? The folder contains items whose names are too long for the recycle bin." How can I get past this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want something on the context menu that:1. I can right click on empty folder space within the folder2. Context menu says "delete folder to recycle bin"3. The folder and all its contexts disappears and therefore so does the window I just used to delete itYou can do this with filemenu tools, but only for PERMANENT delete. I think this is too dangerous. Also sometimes I regret deleting something immediately. I just do it out of convenience. I have looked into the custom commands of filemenu tools and it does not facilitate this action.

View 4 Replies View Relatedfriend's netbook (Samsung N150) running Windows 7. Upon booting up, i tried to open any program shortcuts on the desktop but multiple windows prompt me whether i want to delete the shortcuts. Any files or folders i clicked it happens too. Hence halting up the system. At first i thought it was some kind of virus or malware, so booted to safe mode to have it scan. But surprisingly, the problem still persist in safe mode. So i ran some live cds and managed to clean the system. Booted up normally and the problem's still there. Did last known good config, system restore, checked and updated the drivers but to no avail. So i resort to the last method. Re install windows

edit to add....theres also a folder called RECYCLER which contains 3.3GB...can this be emptied too?
When I login I get the following:
"Recycle Bin"
<!> The RecycleBin on C: is corrupted. Do you want to empty Recycle Bin for this drive?
If I say "Yes"
"Folder Access Denied"
<!> You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder.
It show the name of some hieroglyphics w/ "Date created: 4/3/2011..." -"Continue"- -"Skip"- -"Cancel"-
If I continue, it changes -"Continue"- to -"TryAgain"-
I notice that in the note it says "You require permission from <<my computersubfolder>> to make changes to this folder."
But I already have permission: I'm logged in as that person. I change to name to "corrupted" and tried to delete but won't work...
Just checking with you all I'm doing the right thing. Sometimes my Windows 7 PC won't delete something. It will say preparing to delete but will stay stuck like this, or it will say file in use when I know it's not. In this case I start windows in safe mode my hitting F8 during boot an am then able to delete the movie or file fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a folder that has 25 subfolders and all folders are empty. When I try to delete them, an error appears stating that the folder contains names that are too long for the recycle bin. The next screen states that the source file name(s) are too long than is supported by the file system.
I would like to remove this folder and all its subfolders. I have tried everything from changing permissions to changing attributes and even trying DOS to remove the folders; no luck!
