Ran Auto-runs On Fresh Build Now Windows 7 Wont Boot?
Jan 10, 2013I disabled quite a bit of stuff to reduce processes. Apparently I went to far. Now windows wont boot and I cant get to safe mode.

May 7, 2011I joined Bleeping computers yesterday and today I downloaded 'Autoruns' after reading some posts on the forums,and now I find (ho-hum) I dont know how to run the program,ive unzipped it and its 'ready' but I just cant see the run/start button?can someone point me in the right direction

Apr 18, 2012I have been experiencing random reboots with my fresh Win 7 x64 build. I am suspecting either a bad ram sticks or ATI video card issue. I have attached the minidump and performance report logs.

Missing Rdpclip, File Disappeared From Auto-runs?
Jul 3, 2012I ran autoruns this morning to see which files i had opening on startup. Autoruns indicated that the file rdpclip was missing. I found the file under windows/winsxs, but autorun still couldn't find it. I then looked under my registry HKLM and found it, but I have no idea what to do from there. Also, any mention of the file seems to be missing from autoruns now, and I don't know where to go from here.

May 27, 2012Upon inserting the windows installation disk into the drive, the basic windows procedures took place. It then asked where we wanted to intall the windows operating system. We decided we wanted to partition his one and only hard drive (a 1TB Seagate at 7200rpm or so). We chose a 100GB partition to be the primary drive where the operating system would be installed. Windows also created a 104mb drive for system files or some nonsense. That left a 900 GB partition that would NOT have windows 7 installed on it. Everything installed, PC booted up and when we open windows explorer, the 900 GB drive does not appear. Maybe it has not been formatted?

Apr 2, 2010Smallish yet irritating problem with my Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit install - Autoplay doesn't work, and hasn't since I was forced to reinstall a couple of weeks back.Doesn't work for discs inserted, USB flash drives, memory cards, external HDDs plugged in etc (Firewire & ExpressCard/34 not tested). I have of course gone to the Autoplay settings and restored defaults, also tried setting every category (DVD, CD, etc) at "Ask me every time". No luck. I was working fine on the same OS before before I had to reinstall fresh, also on x86 version of Win 7, and on Vista.Nothing wrong with the USB ports/disc drive, inserted media is still detected.

It's windows 7 home premium service pack 1 (64 bit) if that's needed.. My antivirus/firewall is Avira Internet Security 2012 (not the free edition).

Sep 13, 2011my hard drive that runs my windows 7 wouldn't boot, so in the end I re-imaged it, and since then I have no sound. I updated my drivers, checked it wasn't muted in the bottom panel, changed my leads, tried different types of leads, directly attached it to my tv to ensure it wasn't a problem with the amplifier, went to ASUS's site downloaded the new drivers again directly from them, got a snazzy new aplication out of it but still no sound. Checked my graphics cards are in securely, checked they're showing up, updated those drivers, ran windows updates a few thousand times, ran mr fix it, he tells me that the speakers, headphones etc are not plugged in, but they are. At least that's what the good fellow told me before my asus driver update, I will check back with him after walking my dog.

Apr 29, 2012I've 2 dvd rewriters in my pc. Both Pioneer, one oldish and one older. The both work within windows. When I select multi-boot options to run a boot disc they are both displayed to choose from. However, if I select one of them, the disc boots. If I select the other one, the command to boot is ignored and the system boots into windows - obviously ignoring the dvd device. It's the newer one which is the problem. They both used to work ok with a boot disc.

Jun 10, 2010I had the same problem that others have had with the new nVidia driver causing a BSOD but mine seem to be a little worse off. After uninstalling the nVidia driver the default windows drivers caused my computer to just black screen after boot. I would see the windows 7 load screen but never the login screen (just black w/ no mouse). So I decided to fresh install by formatting and installing.
After fresh install the same problem happens upon first true boot I see the black screen only. After about 10-30 seconds the BSOD will appear saying it is there due to video card driver timeout. I dont know what i should try next since I am on my 3rd fresh install with the same problem. I installed XP again and all is fine with the most up to date video driver as well.
Very Slow Cold Boot But On Reboot System Runs Normal?
Nov 25, 2010My office system is a Dell w/ Win7 and it's been running fine up until 1 month ago. Then it started this odd behavior. On a cold boot it runs about 5x to 20x times slower than normal, almost as if it's just running on a single core locked at 5%. Boot time to hit splash screen is 2.5 to 4.5 minutes (normal is 30 secs). And once I hit return on my pwd the system continues to run in super slow motion. If I just force a reboot, select Boot Windows Normally from the trouble menu, the the system boots in 30 secs, logs in fine, and runs normally.My boss has told me that other Win7 computers he owns/operates are now doing the same thing.I've no idea what could be causing this. Hearing that other Win7 computers are doing it tends to make me believe it isn't a problem specific to this computer or even this small office network. There are no USB devices other than the mouse and keyboard and we've switched those out. We'd recently installed virus protection software, but we removed that and the problem still continues.
The only other thing I can think of, is that we recently installed a printer driver so the system could print to a Brothers laser printer attached via USB to a computer across the local network. And come to think of it, my system wouldn't even see that printer and allow driver installation until we plugged the printer directly into my system. After installation we moved the printer back, and changed the settings for the system to find the printer across the network. I'll look into uninstalling that driver next time I'm in the office.
Update: New day, new slow boot. This time I forced an early reboot and I got the option to start a Windows Startup Repair. I started that, skipped doing a System Restore and let it run. Finally it came back with all tests fine except the following which crashed: System Files Integrity Check and Repair , Failed , Error Code #0x490 , Time Taken = 541573 ms. So it looks like the test that checks for problems crashed, leaving me to wonder if there might still be some hidden problem. And yet reboots run perfectly normal.
New SSD Build - Windows 7 Slow Boot
Jun 22, 2012I just finally finished building my first gaming rig, everything on it is great and really fast. However, the windows boot has now got a lot slower. In the "Starting Windows" screen (the black one where it shows the colorful windows symbol) it now sits there for about a minute. This morning and yesterday it only took 5-10 seconds. I just built it, installed drivers, windows, etc., yesterday. Once I finished with those, I made a backup image. I then loaded more programs and games on today.
Then I restarted my comp and found it took a lot longer to reboot. I restored it back to the image in case I put on a bad program or something, but it still boots slow. What causes a brand new computer with an SSD shouldn't take this long to boot. I also installed the drivers for the MOBO from the CD, and I couldn't find any firmware update for the SSD (the software Magician that came with it said there weren't any)
It's also Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Windows Won't Boot After Drive Format And Fresh Install
Jul 2, 2012I just formatted my C-Drive and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 ultimate on it. After restart, I got the following screen - See image attached. Now Windows can't boot at all. I tried using a system repair disk but it doesn't work. I doubt if it is a hardware problem, since I can access the boot menu and its options, but as I said, running the repair disk fails, I keep on getting that screen when it restarts.

Aug 4, 2010Yesterday I installed Windows 7 on my brother's PC. He had been using Vista previously. Upon booting to the installer, the "Starting Windows" screen would appear with the animated windows logo. This screen took 20 minutes of waiting to get past, so for ages I thought it wasn't going to work at all. Eventually I left it on long enough to get through to the first stage of installation. Everything went ok during install, I formatted the single partition on the HDD and told Win7 to install there. The next two times the install had to restart the computer, the huge delay on getting past the "Starting Windows" screen remained (keep in mind this is before/during the install). Vista had no such issues with boot times. And now that Windows 7 is installed, the boot issues remain, even after installing all available windows updates, updating graphics/mobo/sound/mouse/keyboard drivers, etc. I have checked the Event Log as I have read that you can diagnose possible boot problems in there, but there doesn't appear to be any Boot Events logged, all I see in the Diagnostics-Performance log are Shutdown events.

I have tried many things to fix it, such as removing various RAM modules, enabling/disabling various BIOS settings relating to USB/IDE (I don't use any IDE devices but thought I'd try)/RAID etc (also don't have my single HDD in RAID).
Formatted Windows 7 PC For Fresh Start - Slow Boot Up
Oct 12, 2012I have been using windows 7 for some years. Recently I formatted my pc since unwanted programs, bugs, viruses and junk was accumulating and I wanted a fresh start. The pc came with windows 7 64bit pre-installed and the re-seller gave me a cd along with it. After I formatted the pc (I only formatted the c: drive, I kept all the important and backed up software, drivers and any important documents in the D: drive). After going through procedures and a successful installation the windows booted and apparently it took 5-10 minutes to get to the desktop icons.
Here are the things I did afterwards.
- I tried to boot in safe mode, it just get stuck at classpnp.sys.
- I re installed the os over 9 times now so don't ask to do that.
- I ran repair a lot of times. It does not work.
- I ran registry checks/cleanup, I installed all the correct drivers which are the latest.
- I not stop searched the whole web for 4 straight hours, I seen this happening with a lot of other users.
- Not hardware or software was installed just a clean format.
This happened at the very first boot up after os installation, so installed software's can be ruled out (non was installed). The computer is working just find but the boot up time .... Anyways I think that bios is responsible?

Computer Fails To Boot After Fresh Install Of Windows 7 Ultimate
Feb 13, 2012Ok so after years of running XP, I finally got an external HDD to back all my crap on and Windows 7 Ultimate. I backed up all my stuff, ran the win7 DVD through start up, reformated my hard drive, installed windows 7.
It installed fine, rebooted a couple of times through the install, finishes, and logs me to the desktop. Its all working fine, I can use the net etc. I shut it down to restart it, and it doesn't start back up. It gets to the bios window where it decides to start off the dvd or hdd, just prior to where it should normally change to the 'windows is loading' screen, and just sits there, blinking and doing nothing.
I've done three installs, I took out the hard drive, reformated it with another computer, made sure it had a ntfs file system, everything, it's working fine. But every single time I install windows 7, It logs me into the desktop for the first time, I can do everything fine, but then if I Shutdown or restart, it hangs on the screen prior to windows loading. I can't even choose a boot option.
I've seen some ideas on other forums, pulling the power out, resetting the bios/cmos, changing boot sequence, unplugging all non-essential hardware.. nothing. It's like as soon as I install windows 7 my hard drive isn't there anymore.

Fresh Installation Of Windows 7 Taking Long Time O Boot?
Apr 8, 2011I have Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop, Intel core i3 2 GB ram and 320 gb hardrive. I was running windows 7 home bsic edition 32bit on it.Everything was going fine.Then I saw some files in my E: drive with the .dll exension which i think were reated to the microsoft visual C++ enviroment and i deleted them .Lap top was sill running fine. But when I shut it down and turned on again it gave an error on startup that "one or more peripheral devices may have been removed imporperly". So I formaed my C: drive, where windows was installed and re-installed windows 7 basic 32 bit. Bu even a fresh copy of windows was taking 5 to 6 minutes to boot up after the "windows is starting screen" but eventually it did start. when I tried installing my drivers it gave an error that the drivers are not supported by this system.
And I know the drivers are the correct one because I have used them before with this same windows and same laptop. So I again formatted my C: drive and this time installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. But the problem is same it takes 5 to 6 minutes on the "windows is starting screen" and then eventully starts up. And I ran "HDTune" software to see if if my hardrive was okay....and it gave no errors. I even set my bios to "restore default setings" but still no luck.I even tried disk de-fragmenation.....and yeah the drivers wont install even in the windows 7 ultimte 64 bit edition.
Stop Auto-detecting External Hdd At Boot Up Windows 7?
Apr 6, 2011I've just had a new mother board installed in my tower, now it's a Pent 4 3.4g. I used to have my two external HDD's connected to the old system configuration but now at startup, when it gets to Auto-Detecting External HDD's it takes for ever to do anything. I have to unplug them, then do a reboot and all is fine, but then have to plug them back in again.
I know from reading some post's that it's in the BIOS startup sequence but I'm not quite sure where and what to change in the startup.
In the BIOS Boot Device Priority I have: 1st - Floppy Drive, 2nd - [3M-ST3200800AS], 3rd - [ATAPI CD-ROM], 4th - [Disabbled].
New Computer Build Work With Old Build's Windows 7 Disc?
Jul 5, 2011My current system was upgraded to windows 7 32bit from vista 32bit (I bought the windows 7 home premium upgrade disc when it was first released). I am going to build a complete new system. Can I install windows 7 64bit from the same windows 7 disc? Or do I have to buy a new windows 7 disc? Is there a way around buying a whole new disc?

Sep 19, 2009I wanted to dual boot Win 7 64 with my vista 32 but after the install completes and the computer reboots it hangs on the Win 7 boot logo and then just stays there until i turn off the power button. It's kinda like the problem when you have a USB plugged in and the boot logo hangs except there's nothing plugged into the comp. Reinstalled again the the same result. When I look at the win 7 drive from vista it looks like all the files are all there but it just keeps hanging on that logo =(. What should I do?
Also when i try and boot into safemode it hangs on "Classpnp.sys"
I've looked elsewhere and seen that people solved this problem by updating bios but I have the latest version of mine =(

New PC Build-replacing Boot Partition
Jan 8, 2011I'm replacing my mobo/cpu with Sandy Bridge parts when they become available tomorrow, and I'm hoping to be able to move my data partition over without wiping it. I've currently got my drive partitioned up such that C is Windows 7 and basic programs, and the D drive includes my Steam games and other data. I know that a new mobo means reinstalling Windows, so will I be able to just wipe the C partition, keep the D partition intact, and then reinstall Windows 7 over the C partition on the new computer without issue, or will all the programs on D fail to recognize and function with the new Windows 7 install?
