BSOD After Windows 7 Fresh Install Upon First Boot

Jun 10, 2010

I had the same problem that others have had with the new nVidia driver causing a BSOD but mine seem to be a little worse off. After uninstalling the nVidia driver the default windows drivers caused my computer to just black screen after boot. I would see the windows 7 load screen but never the login screen (just black w/ no mouse). So I decided to fresh install by formatting and installing.

After fresh install the same problem happens upon first true boot I see the black screen only. After about 10-30 seconds the BSOD will appear saying it is there due to video card driver timeout. I dont know what i should try next since I am on my 3rd fresh install with the same problem. I installed XP again and all is fine with the most up to date video driver as well.

Windows Won't Boot After Drive Format And Fresh Install

Jul 2, 2012

I just formatted my C-Drive and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 ultimate on it. After restart, I got the following screen - See image attached. Now Windows can't boot at all. I tried using a system repair disk but it doesn't work. I doubt if it is a hardware problem, since I can access the boot menu and its options, but as I said, running the repair disk fails, I keep on getting that screen when it restarts.

20 Minutes Boot Time On Fresh Windows 7 X64 Install

Aug 4, 2010

Yesterday I installed Windows 7 on my brother's PC. He had been using Vista previously. Upon booting to the installer, the "Starting Windows" screen would appear with the animated windows logo. This screen took 20 minutes of waiting to get past, so for ages I thought it wasn't going to work at all. Eventually I left it on long enough to get through to the first stage of installation. Everything went ok during install, I formatted the single partition on the HDD and told Win7 to install there. The next two times the install had to restart the computer, the huge delay on getting past the "Starting Windows" screen remained (keep in mind this is before/during the install). Vista had no such issues with boot times. And now that Windows 7 is installed, the boot issues remain, even after installing all available windows updates, updating graphics/mobo/sound/mouse/keyboard drivers, etc. I have checked the Event Log as I have read that you can diagnose possible boot problems in there, but there doesn't appear to be any Boot Events logged, all I see in the Diagnostics-Performance log are Shutdown events.

Specs are as follows:

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM
Core 2 Quad 2.8Ghz
3GB DDR2 RAM
500GB Samsung SATA 7200rpm HDD
Nvidia 9800GTX
XFX nForce 780i SLI Motherboard (BIOS ver. P09)

I have tried many things to fix it, such as removing various RAM modules, enabling/disabling various BIOS settings relating to USB/IDE (I don't use any IDE devices but thought I'd try)/RAID etc (also don't have my single HDD in RAID).

Computer Fails To Boot After Fresh Install Of Windows 7 Ultimate

Feb 13, 2012

Ok so after years of running XP, I finally got an external HDD to back all my crap on and Windows 7 Ultimate. I backed up all my stuff, ran the win7 DVD through start up, reformated my hard drive, installed windows 7.

It installed fine, rebooted a couple of times through the install, finishes, and logs me to the desktop. Its all working fine, I can use the net etc. I shut it down to restart it, and it doesn't start back up. It gets to the bios window where it decides to start off the dvd or hdd, just prior to where it should normally change to the 'windows is loading' screen, and just sits there, blinking and doing nothing.

I've done three installs, I took out the hard drive, reformated it with another computer, made sure it had a ntfs file system, everything, it's working fine. But every single time I install windows 7, It logs me into the desktop for the first time, I can do everything fine, but then if I Shutdown or restart, it hangs on the screen prior to windows loading. I can't even choose a boot option.

I've seen some ideas on other forums, pulling the power out, resetting the bios/cmos, changing boot sequence, unplugging all non-essential hardware.. nothing. It's like as soon as I install windows 7 my hard drive isn't there anymore.

Specs:
Abit AX78 - Latest BIOS version
AMD 9950 quad core 2.6
4GB DDR2-800
ATi HD 5870
Western Digital 500GB

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Won't Boot, Just Plays Boot Animation?

My Windows 7 has stopped booting after a restart, the system would just endlessly play the boot animation and not boot properly... system restore won't work, startup repair won't work, chdsk and sfc won't work. I have yet to try and see whether a Registry fix works. Windows loads the WRE VERY slowly.

No Windows Boot Animation After Asrock Instant Boot

Aug 1, 2012

I have an Asrock Extreme6 Z77 motherboard, and of course it comes with their signature Instant Boot.I have a Crucial m4 so booting wasn't an issue but I enabled it anyway to test it out. It didn't really do anything so I disabled and uninstalled it. However, now when I reboot there is no Windows loading screen, it just goes black after the Mobo splash screen and then shows the Windows login. This isn't a huge deal but I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. When the screen goes black, my USB keyboard and mouse go off too (the back-lights go off). I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but I thought I would mention it.Also, in msconfig the option for No Boot GUI is not checked.

Windows 7 Animation Boot Not Working?

I cannot find an answer to this, why this is happening, done several installations of Windows 7(32 or 64 bit) but it will never show correctly the boot animation. It only does show it when it wakes up from sleep, which the computer fails to hibernate or enter sleep mode.

An example of what happens on boot is in this video:

Stuck On Boot Logo After Fresh Install

Sep 19, 2009

I wanted to dual boot Win 7 64 with my vista 32 but after the install completes and the computer reboots it hangs on the Win 7 boot logo and then just stays there until i turn off the power button. It's kinda like the problem when you have a USB plugged in and the boot logo hangs except there's nothing plugged into the comp. Reinstalled again the the same result. When I look at the win 7 drive from vista it looks like all the files are all there but it just keeps hanging on that logo =(. What should I do?

Also when i try and boot into safemode it hangs on "Classpnp.sys"

I've looked elsewhere and seen that people solved this problem by updating bios but I have the latest version of mine =(

I've tried EVERY boot option in F8 to no avail.

Boot Animation Freezes

Oct 5, 2009

I am sure everyone recognizes this: at almost every startup, you see the boot animation. Windows 7 uses those 4 colors that merge into a Windows flag.

But the animation freezes at a random moment, then after 3 seconds it disappears and there we have the normal menu where you choose a profile to login with.

I want to see the animation completely, so making use of those 3 seconds where the OS is loading to continue the animation.

You have this in Windows XP too, where the loading bar freezes.

Are there any solutions for this? It would be fantastic to see the Windows flag at the end, and not just those 4 colors about-to-merge.

BSOD For Fresh Install Windows 7 During SP1?

Sep 13, 2012

I've just made a new fresh install of Windows 7 - 64bits (legal version). Everything was fine, all drivers were up to date. But, when I install updates from Windows Update, during the installation of the SP1 (when the screen is "do not turn off the computer"), the computer reboots, and it said that it occurs a BSOD !? I've seen nothing. According to Whocrashed, it's because of BAD_POOL_HEADER, from ntoskrnl.exe (which belongs to Nvidia I think) and e1c62x64.sys (for Intel LAN)... After reboot, Windows continues slowly its updates like everything was OK... but I wonder is that SP1 & updates have been compromised (poorly done, half or what) 'cause of this BSOD? Should I reformat the computer?Windows Update indicates that all these updates were successful...

BSOD Before And After Fresh Windows 7 Install?

Feb 18, 2012

This PC has ran fine since 2008 when it was built. It was recently updated to Windows 7 Pro OEM. During the OS upgrade it had more memory added (4x2GB, all slots filled). Upgrade and install went flawlessly. All software (photoshop, premiere, firefox, antivirus) was re-installed without any errors or hick-ups. Upon updating firefox (I believe the timing was co-incidence) it Blue Screened. It has had issues ever since. So my last stitch effort was to back everything up and re-install Windows and hope that it fixed the problem. Needless to say that it hasn't been fixed and it still randomly blue screens. Windows Memory Diagnostic ran with no errors returned

BSoD After Fresh Windows 7 Install?

Mar 19, 2012

Bought a new computer 2 weeks ago, came in 3 days ago. Been having trouble with it since. Usually I'm the "Mr. Fix-it" when it comes to PC's but I've never messed around with any debugging tools.

I've tried all the troubleshooting you can possibly do when trying to diagnose a blue screen of death. Tried both RAM sticks separately, took the video card out and used on-board video. I even tried both RAM sticks with on-board video separately. Unplugged the DVD-ROM, no avail. I called ASRock and got a technician who I could barely understand, but was telling me something about "XMP". I didn't see the XMP option under the DRAM configuration, even if my sticks don't support it wouldn't the option still be there? I think he has my motherboard confused with another one. He told me to either replace the RAM with new RAM or send the motherboard back in and exchange it.

I came here to see what the BSoD DMP files REALLY have to say the problem is, so I can solve it once and for all. I didn't pay for new hardware to let it sit here and collect dust.

BSOD After Fresh Install Of Windows

Nov 25, 2012

Ive ran memtest86 4.0a and i found several million errors. So i scanned through 1 and 1 ramslot to try to determine which ram was giving the errors, this only resulted in 1 of my 4 ram had only 1 error? I found this weird so i thought it might be the DIMM thats corrupted.

So now i removed 3 of my rams and i only run with 1 which passed the test. Still i get unexpected shutdowns aka BSOD.

Ive tried to remove my SSD and only use my HDD back and forth , changing to IDE inside BIOS, but with no good results at all..
Ive also tried to change my PSU to a different brand, but all volts seems ok.
I also reinstalled windows with USB, CD, from HDD yeah you name it, different versions... etc.. i even tried to install Windows 8 but with the same result

This all actually just started out of the blue, i have no clue how but i didnt install anything , all of the sudden i started having connection problems which resulted in BSOD.

Windows 7 Hangs On Fresh Install On SSD?

Mar 16, 2011

I'm putting together a HTPC using a ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe (AMD Zacate mobo/cpu combo), 30GB Kingston SSD, and 4Gb Crucial DDR3 1066.Problem is when I boot from the Windows install disk I get the "Windows is Loading Files" status bar but when it gets the end it just hangs there. Usually it boots right into the next Windows loading screen. So before I start troubleshooting I want to make sure there's nothing special I need to do with the SSD before installing Windows. Its a brand new drive but I'm pretty certain during the installation process there's a Format option. The Windows install disk was burned from an ISO using IMG Burn at 16x. Before I left for work I started another burn (with img verification) at 8x. But I'm not certain that will help. I've burned plenty of images at 16x speeds without issue.

Fresh Windows 7 Install Freezes

May 2, 2011

A few days ago, all out of the blue, my PC started to freeze - at that time with VISTA installed. I tried to restart and it froze again, just after a couple of minutes. Tried again, again, again and again. With the same result. Without getting any further I tried to install Windows 7 to get my PC up and running again. Formatted all of partitions to get a fresh and clean start. and it froze again, within a couple of minutes. Now I suspect it may be caused by a hardware problem? What is there to do? What can I do? I`m far from a PC-expert, I HP is somewhere between 1-3 years old I think, and I`ve never encountered this problem before, on this PC or any other.
