Win 7 Freezes My Adsl Modem From Time To Time
This is a very weird network problem. I have an ADSL modem cum router (huawei mt882). I connect my windows7 laptop to it via an ethernet cable.

My problem is that sometimes (like once every 20 min) my modem gets stuck. Its lights start blinking in a pattern i.e. link light will stay on for 1 sec then it will go off, then other lan lights will glow for 1 sec and then they will go off. This continues for a 30 or so seconds. All this while, internet connection is lost in all computers connected to the modem. The modem resumes normal functionality after 30 seconds.

I am sure that the cause of this is win7 coz it doesnt happen when any other machine is connected to the modem. I also have ubuntu on this laptop and when i run ubuntu this problem does not occur.

USB ZTE Modem Driver
I have a problem, with a USB modem, the  USB ZTE modem, Type MODEM 3G multi-mode, GSM / GPRS / EDGE / WCDMA / HSDPA. This device is not identified by the system. As you plug it in, nothing happens because windows doesn't recognize it at all as a modem. The driver doesnt work.

I supose It will need a brand new driver in order to work. So Microsoft windows 7 developers, wake up and begin to work on a solution. This kind of modems are getting more and more used.

Huawei E169 USB 3g Modem Driver
I can't get my Huawei 169 modem to function in Windows 7, I've tried both build 6801 and 6956 -same result

As soon as I plug the modem in Windows 7 recognizes it as a usb disk, I can access the disk and launch the on board installer. I've downloaded the latest driver from the Huawei site, but the installer fails with the error "can't find any modem"

If I do a hardware scan in the device manager only the usb disk turns up, but not the modem.

I'm using this modem on this laptop in both WinXP and OSX without any problems, so the modem and PC is allright...

Is there any special windows 7 services that I need to start?

Installing Huawei Modem Driver Of PTCL V Wireless On Wi
Installing Huawei modem Driver of PTCL V Wireless on windows 7. In this article you will find how to install huawei modem (ETS2558) drivers of previous version windows (XP) on windows 7.

Other user (other modem brand) of PTCL V or windows XP service pack 3 and vista user may get help from there to install their drivers.

As we know that win 7 has great support for previous windows applications so software make no problem only driver create a problem.

To install the driver follow these steps.

1- Insert CD into CD/ DVD ROM.

2- Cancel auto run of huawei application.

3- Go to start Menu in search bar type "Troubleshooting" and open it from menu.

4- Now click on programs and follow the instruction (Run application in Win XP service pack 2 compatibility mode and follow procedure same as XP).

Select not listed….

Select Location of application….

Click on "Try recommended settings"

Now click on start the Program…

5-After installizations save compatibility settings. (Windows may warn u that it is not compatible just ignore it).

6-Now go to the Device manager here you will see TUSB3410 DEVICE IN Multiport serial adapters which will be marked with some sign Right click on it and then click on update driver. Now click on brows files from computer and select CD/ DVD ROM in which driver is found. It will scan the CD/ DVD ROM n find and install drivers automatically.

7-Refresh the list of device manager or re-open it. U will see that USB-Serial Port (COM 3) in Ports (COM & LPT) will be marked with sign. Now perform same procedure as in step 6 with it.

Now you are ready to use your application.

Now open application ptcl v and click on connect it may take 1 to 2 minutes by displaying a message initializing.

USB Modem Driver USBSER.SYS Does Not Install
The company I work for has a product with a USB Device port implementing the CDC class. Our driver is based on Microsoft's USBSER.SYS driver and we provide the specific INF files so that our product installs as a virtual COM port or as a Modem. It works well on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit versions but I fail to install the same driver for the Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise trial version. The error message is:

Windows was unable to install your unknown device.

Windows could not find driver software for your device.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

Does anyone have any insight on the possible reason for failure and how we can fix our driver?

Modem Driver Problem / Samsung Rant (M540) Phone
i just installed Windows 7 64bit. I use a Samsung Rant m540 Cell Phone for my Internet connection. I cant get high speed on my road so its alot better than dial up, anyway ive used it for a few years and now i cant seem to get it installed. It works fine on other comps and i had a driver for win xp 64bit that works. I got it installed on the windows 7 and it shows up as the modem and says its working properly but it wont respond when i try to query the modem or connect to the Internet.

Im pretty sure i just need a driver for the windows 7 for the phone as modem. But Sprint does not have a driver or program which supports it and neither does Samsung which created the phone. I googled for at least 5 hours with no success ive tried a few different drivers and no luck.

Driver For Internal WWAN Modem On Sony Vaio VGN-P19VN/Q
I suspect the answer to this question is 'wait for the launch date' but thought I'd try anyway.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-P19VN/Q - the little one with the Intel Atom processor and built-in 'everywair' wireless adaptor.

Performance has always been a little 'iffy' with Vista, so when the RTC beta version of Windows 7 came out, I installed that as an up-grade and was really pleased with the performance improvement.

Since then, my employer, a University, has decided to jump straight from XP to 7 and we got hold of the 'Enterprise' version of 7 a little while ago. I installed this on my P-series with great glee, but, unfortunately, was unable to perform an upgrade from the 'ultimate' beta to the 'enterprise' copy, so had to do a clean install.

All went well and everything works fine except the 'everywair' modem, which comes up as an 'unknown device' on the system info and I've tried everything (in terms of driver detection software, downloading and installing the vista drivers etc) to get it back up and running.

I also have an 02 usb stick modem, which I;ve managed to get to work via a manual set up and a bit of tweaking, and the standard wireless card works fine, so I'm not destitute, just annoyed that one aspect of a very useful little machine doesn;t function anymore.

As I said, I suspect the answer is 'wait for Sony to release the driver, you impatient early-adopter' but thought I'd just check!

Sony, interestingly, haven't replied to my support query!

Modem Drivers
Trying windows 7 and so far i've had pretty good luck. Only problem I have is with modems. I've tried older modems (lucent) and newer (conextant) with drivers designed for Vista/XP and no luck installing them. After 4 modems I can't believe none are compatible. Any suggestion?. (only want the to use the modem for Fax or voice mail.)

P.S. Also all are internal modems, might have to go external USB to get one to work

Speedtouch Modem Drivers Issue
I have trouble with the driver, when i first had win 7 professional the vista drivers attached the modem to the computer and it worked until now, i reinstalled win 7 and now it has given me error of 0692 when i use the software edtion to dial up on stdialup.exe.

the software does install as it makes the modem go green on both sections, but when i get to the point of where the software wants to dial up on the wizard it crashes as well. i keep installing and uninstalling but same thing time and time again.

been using xDSLGA-Wired_Driver_UK_330_41C_WinVista.exe and earlier edtions too but nothing works.

Modem Samsung Sgh-z810
USB modem Samsung sgh-z810 works in Windows 7.

1. connect modem to USB, install all required drivers and software (if don't work, use compatibility mode with Windows XP)

2. install VMware Workstation

3. install Windows XP on VMware Workstation

4. run XP and install all required drivers and software for modem (it's automatic)

5. now you have internet on running Windows XP on VMware Workstation

6. disconnect from internet on Windows XP

7. run connection manager on Windows 7

8. and now trick, add new HW (VM>Settings>Add>Network Adapter>Host-only>Finish) Network Adapter

9. wait few seconds and connection manager find modem on windows 7 (WTF?)

10. now, you can connect to the internet using connection manager in Windows 7

11. close VMware Workstation and enjoy ;-)

I don't know how it's possible, but it works! Cheers!

Problems Connecting Wirelessly To Modem
New upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista results in problems connecting wirelessly to my modem (but fine via Ethernet cable)

I've got an HP desktop (Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9450 2.66GHZ, 8GB RAM) with a Foxconn 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless system adapter.  I also have a Motorola Wireless Cable Modem Gateway SBG900 (and I have another laptop connected wirelessly to it with no problems -but still running Vista).  I am running Norton Internet Security.

I just upgraded from 64bit Vista to 64bit Windows 7 -not a full install, kept all of my settings.  At the end of the install Windows 7 asked for my wireless settings and when I entered in my WEP key it kept telling me it was incorrect.  I gave up and completed the install and my computer picked up all the wireless networks in the area (including mine) but it still could not connect.

When I click "Troubleshoot problems" it says:

If you are on a home network, reset your wireless router or access point:
1. Unplug or turn off your router.
2. Wait at least 10 seconds.
3. Turn it back on or plug it back into the power outlet.

I've tried all the windows 7 suggested fixes (above) and reset my router/rebooted my computer but no luck (though my vista laptop continued to work well wirelessly).

I updated to all the latest drivers (including one for my Foxconn wireless system adapter) and also all the latest windows updates.  No luck.

Whenever I plug an ethernet cable directly from my modem into my computer I can connect without problems to the internet, but as soon as I disconnect, reboot the modem, reboot the computer, and attempt connection to my wireless network, no luck.

Then, following the advice given gtcfanatic (which actually solved his problem), I accessed my wireless modem's internet gateway and changed the security settings several times (rebooting the modem each time).  I tried moving from WEP to WPA, to WPA-2 (with AES and with TKID).  No luck on my desktop, though each time I did this and I reauthenticated with my Vista laptop, my laptop could access the internet no problem.

Finally I removed all internet security from my modem and created an open/unencrypted network, and I still could not connect -I received the same error yet again.  (Every time I made changes I unplugged the modem for 10 seconds and plugged it in again, and tested it with my Vista laptop which worked each time).

Any other ideas? Other things to test?
