Jun 13, 2011

it's already about a year know since I've assembled my computer. My motherboard seems not to completely shutdown the power of the usb ports. The motherboard I use is a Asus P6T se, I've been searching trough the forum but nothing came out.. maybe I oversaw it but I'm not sure 'bout that.

So when I shutdown all usbdevice basically stay on or are still getting power.. I want it to turn off too. First reactions will give me go check the BIOS. I browsed it several times already.

[CRASH] Windows 7 Hangs On Shutdown?

Mar 26, 2011

I just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad T400. This is my 5th Thinkpad. It is a 2767-P1U. It is running Windows 7. I have the Lenovo drivers installed and have upgraded them to the latest available. I have also got Norton Anti-Virus 2011 and Office 2007 Professional. Windows is fully updated as well. The processor is: Core 2Duo T9400 with 2GB Memory.I am having issues getting the machine to shut down from the "Start > Shutdown" command. It continues to the shut down splash screen and has the rotating circle "hourglass" and stays that way. There appears to be little to no hard drive activity and it just sits there. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I am forced to use the actual power button to hard shut down the system. In order to investigate possible causes to this problem I began by determining what programs are running at start up in MSCONFIG. Aside from a few IBM applications, Windows and Norton services nothing seems to be in there that should cause any issues.

I checked the Event Viewer and can see that there seems to be some issues with "miniport" drivers from AMD. I thought this may have something to do with the video drivers as they are ATI (now AMD) and removed the extra Catalyst stuff and left the drivers. No change.I removed the Anti-Virus software completely. No Change.I tried disabling the network adapters, including Wireless. No change. One thing is certain. If I start the computer and sign into windows and then immediately click Start>Shutdown, it goes down in 10 seconds. Is this a power management driver issue? A video driver issue still? Some other "miniport" issue? Something I can't see?

Crash On Shutdown, Restart And (suspected) Hibernate?

Dec 6, 2011

My computer crashes on shutdown, restart and I suspect hibernate (I think that is what causes them while it sits idle). It was more broken yesterday than it is now, as I have seemingly solved some of the problems. I have included some history below, just in case it's useful.I got back from a trip (4 month exchange) and installed 26 windows updates. only KB2607576 failed, then it worked when windows tried again. When I opened Windows after that, my NIC card and several USB drivers weren't working (code 10 I think... certain .dlls didn't load). I had to disable/reenable each device/usb one in order to get them working. Occasionally the system would hang while I did this, usually on the last USB - forcing a manual power off.

I eventually rolled back to a restore solved before I left for my exchange and; updated my BIOS, chipset and USB to the latest from the manu's site. I figure windows installed the new USB 3.0 drivers (Renases USB 3.0 Host Controller/Root Hub) without any regard to my chipset/bios version and this somehow caused the problem - though I have no evidence and little experience in this area.Windows was also telling me Skype wasn't working, though it appeared to be working fine (it gave mo the fix a problem with... dialogue). I have re-installed Skype since. Now everything seems to be working (NIC, USB, etc.), except for the crashes. When it crashes, I see a BSOD. A BSOD was happening earlier while the NIC/USB were acting up also, but there appear to be no logs for those. These are in fact the only logs I have, and this has happened several times.

Start And Shutdown Computer Automatically Several Times Per Day?

Jan 17, 2013

What I need to do is turn on a Windows 7 computer every hour for about five minutes and then turn it off again automatically; while the computer is on I have to run a macro. The cycle described before has to be repeated 24 hours, so, the computer is automatically turned on, it automatically runs the macro and when the macro ends, it goes off again 24 times per day. When I say turn off I mean, either turn off the computer or send it to a low energy consumption state like hibernation or sleep Basically I know how to automatically turn off the computer and turn it on once per day using the BIOS setup, but I dont know how to do this several times in a day automatically and then call the macro every time

But if I disable the Power service, I get no crashes but the sound is gone and I get a little x in the audio icon.

What can I do? I restored BIOS settings to default and messed around with many things but I can't solve it.

Multiple Types Of BSOD - Crash / Freeze And Shutdown

Dec 14, 2011

I am at the end of my tether with the amount of issues im having with my computer at the minute. I am experiencing freezing where the whole system just halts, a crash freeze where media freezing causes the computer to make a horrendous noise, some with the shutdown of the computer following, some requiring the computer to be terminated manually.

I have had BSODs from memory to Graphics Driver issues but am now experiencing two or three Parsity issues with malfunction messages. I have no idea whats going on to my computer, I have included the dumps and the perfmon with this post. I checked the file before I uploaded and I saw that there was no AV detected on my computer despite windows displaying and recognizing Avast.

Blue Screen On Start Up Then Shutdown - Sometimes Restarts Automatically

May 1, 2011

Yesterday I got this virus, I went and bought trend micro titanium and cleaned it up (was using a free30 day trial of something else) but I'm still having a problem. Whenever I go to shut down or restart my computer, it starts doing it like normal, but right at the end I get this blue screen with a bunch of messages written, it last about 5 seconds while a countdown happens at the bottom of the screen, then it restarts (even if I went Shutdown).

Sometimes minutes after I log back into the user, the blue screen comes up out of nowhere, does it's 5 second odd countdown and restarts. I should get minidump files. The countdown at the bottom of the blue screen is called "crash dump" or something like that. With the virus whenever I tried to open an internet explorer or google chrome window, all that would come up was "win 7 home security", I'm not getting that anymore though after doing the full scan with trend.

Additional info: I have windows 7, my pc is a HP Pavilion laptop, model number is DV6 - 2144TX

[CRASH] System ID 41 Kernel Power Errors

Sep 16, 2011

The kernel Power errors happen when ever I play a rather large game, such as Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising 2, Assassins Creed Series, and Battlefield Bad Company 2. I've tried unplugging all my external devices such as, my headset, It worked for about two weeks, but then the errors started happening again. I had this computer custom built for gaming, It's not even a third full, And I want this to stop. I've updated all my drivers, Uninstalled tons of my games, just to get one working. The errors don't occur immediately once I run the game. It takes about 20 minutes more or less to stop. The computer doesn't freeze, or give any warning that it's about to happen. Just swiftly shuts off. I gave up for a while and tried to restore my system to factory settings. I can't restore it to factory settings, because I don't know where the disc is, and when I try to reset it by a restore point, the restore points are only for this month.

Sudden Shutdown Kernel Power 41 63

Apr 26, 2010

I am not playing a game my computer runs fine for hours this Critical Error only occurs when I'm running a game usually after few minutes. Most solutions suggested reinstalling audio driver/making sure there is only one. Well I only have one, it's up to date with one audio device running and was reinstalled a couple of days ago. I'm not yet sure if it occurs in every game which I am checking now so far I've experienced shutdown while playing Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033. Critical error is always the same and always a shutdown even though Restart On System Failure is unchecked. [code]

Also attached is my dxdiag.I've ran RAM diagnostic and it found no faults after 13~ thorough checks. I will try reinstalling audio driver again as well as check whether all of my games trigger this error. I did run the System file checker from CMD cannot quite remember the command now and it showed returned no faults. So far only Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 have caused this error.Just noticed I have missed a latest video card driver. Will attempt to try again after updating that.

[CRASH] Windows Consistently Freezing After Power Outage

Feb 19, 2012

I have been having a serious issue with my PC. The PC will boot up without incident, but if I try to access explorer or the OS, it will slow to a crawl and eventually freeze. I have encountered this with firefox, the start menu, and when trying to access the task manager. The problem is consistent, occuring everytime I start the machine. Usually within the first few minutes of a boot-up, Windows has frozen and I must force a hard reset.

The only thing I can think of which may be the cause is a power outage which occured in the night. When I woke up, the PC was off and the problem began as soon as I booted up. The PC was plugged into a power strip which was not tripped by the outage.

I can boot up in Safe Mode, which delays the onset of the crash, but doesn't stop it. I have tried using system restore by accessing the menu during start-up (F8) but the system restore always fails at the very end. Looking at the inside of the PC, there doesn't seem to be any visible damage (that I can detect) and at no points does anything seem to be giving off any excess heat.

When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL in an attempt to access the task manager, the screen goes black and the cursor turns to a wheel. After several minutes, the wheel will stop and a prompt will appear stating "The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."

Power Settings - Windows Has Recovered From Unexpected Shutdown?

Dec 15, 2011

My Netbook power profile has these battery setting:

Level: Battery action/Plugged In
Critical Level: 5%/5%
Critical action: Hibernate/Hibernate
Low Battery Level: 7%/10%
Low Battery Action: Nothing/Nothing
Reserve Battery Level: 5%/7%
Reserve Battery Action: N/A

If I leave the netbook on battery and go to sleep/go out/whatever, when I come back it will be off. After plugging it in and powering it on. It will say it is resuming windows, and then I get the "windows has recovered from unexpected shutdown" after Windows is started. I'm not having any problems with Windows, but this message is annoying. Theoretically when the battery hits 5% remaining, windows will gracefully hibernate and I can resume it without any problems.

BSOD After Long Period Of Shutdown On Startup, Random Power Shut Off

My computer gets at least ONCE BSOD every time I turn it on after a long period of shutdown. It also sometimes randomly just shuts off or give me additional BSODs. It has got to the point that I can't even load to windows recently, which lead me to reformat my computer. Windows 7 Explorer.exe Crash/restart/crash?

Jan 21, 2013

I read through a few threads with similar topics but the issues were either not quite the same and/or resolved comparatively easily. I am trying to repair a 1.5 year-old HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. This machine is used as the main office computer in a small doctor's office. In spite of my warnings, anti-virus software was not installed until it was too lateThere was a major issue about seven months ago that required another company to repairThe problem is explorer.exe will not run. Double-clicking a shortcut on the desktop, clicking the text name of a program from the Start menu, and even in the cmd results in the same response, a dialog box pops up stating windows explorer has stopped working.

windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.
