I had several crashes with skype and hibernate. Thats a known problem with newer than 5.0.0.156 versions. My question - in the old xp and ide days windows slowed down the hdd after several hdd crashes automatically and on e had to add a registry key to stop xp doing that.Is Windows 7 doing the same?
View 8 RepliesJust made a new pc running w7hp from a wd green drive.Psu is a corsair cx430 cpu the a10 5800k and the motherboard is the asrock a75pro4-m.All parts are brand new.For some reason the pc just turns itself off, even when in use. The pled stays on but the power nor reset button work.To turn it back on, one needs to turn the psu off and on first.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen using it, after a while (10 or 15 minutes perhaps) in which I haven't touched the keyboard, the brightness is suddenly reduced. Hitting any key, but not moving the mouse, brings the brightness back up again. After a while it does it again, and again seemingly at more frequent intervals. Eventually it comes to the point where even when I press a key the brightness stays low. I then have to right click on the desktop, choose Graphics Properties which brings up the Intel Graphics & Media Control Panel and reset the brightness from 0 to say 50%. It is usually OK after that for some time.There's nothing wrong with the monitor - when using it as an additional monitor with a laptop with Win XP its brightness remains unchanged for hours.

(OCZ Agility 3, 2.15 firmware) I made fresh install of OS, newest drivers etc. SSD and my system was working very well but I was disapointed to my SSD-benchmark results. Well I tried to increase performance by updating my motherboard bios. Bios update succeed but it didnt really increase performance of my ssd, new bios reduced writing performance notable. (MOBO = Asus m4a87td/usb, bios v.2001) AHCI is on.
What with that 103424? Shouldnt it be 1024? Previous score over 400 points, now just 300. (disappeared in picture)
Also noticed another problem. I can't boot my comp if I have external drive plugged in. I just can't change my 1st device boot to agility drive in bios because it's not in the list of boot devices. Well I unplug external drive and its working. Also thought that bios update would fix it but it didnt.
i do have an external HDD with a 250G capacity... i bought an enclosure then...i think i have this almost 3 years now...i have noticed lately that max capacity is now 150G...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI restored Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit version) on my PC and I used Easeus Todo Backup v4.0.0.2. to do this. I restored the hidden reserved partition and also the Windows partition (my C: drive). However, the restoration altered the size of both of these partitions. It has reduced the reserved partition from 100 Mb to 99.7 Mb and I'm guessing it must have increased the C: partition and used the 0.3Mb reduced from the hidden partition (I can't remember the original size of my C: partition)? Will the reduction in size of the reserved partition from 100Mb to 99.7Mb have any implications? Does anyone know why this should happen and should I use a partition manager to put it back to 100Mb?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried installing 64bit Win 7 Ultimate on mirrored 3TB Seagate HDD using a Digitus RAID card and failed. After the failed attempt, I disconnected the HDD and plugged the primary HDD to an on-board SATA connector only to find its capacity reduced to 750 GB. Windows Preinstallation Environment shows the same size and running clean produced no effect.
Something odd I noticed after running diskpart is that no matter how many drive is connected to onboard SATA, it only shows the 750 GB and the PC name is MINWINPC.
I`m completely stuck with this and cannot figure any solution. Please anyone help me restore the original 3TB size.
I just want to be able to increase the speed of my fans beyond their spec, and have complete manual control over their RPMs without a care about the temps. I have a liquid cooling setup and the fans on my radiator as they are right now simply aren't cutting it. I have them hooked up to the motherboard in hopes of finding something to just boost their speed via software, but SpeedFan is the only thing I could find and it simply sucks for that purpose.

windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a usb 3.0 pci-express card and a western digital 2TB usb 3.0 my book external hard drive. i hooked up the pci-card and the drive, but i'm not getting any speed boost. After reading through many posts, I downloaded HD Tune to check speeds. I have my 3.0 WD hard drive and my 2.0 seagate drive both plugged into the 3.0 pci-express card.
WD 3.0 drive average transfer rate = 36MB/s
seagate 2.0 drive average transfer rate = 36MB/s
my internal hard drive average transfer rate = 69MB/s
The pci-e card is showing up as usb 3.0 is device manager..why I'm not getting any speed boost with my new card and hard drive?
I'm looking at getting a new graphics card. I have set a budget of about $250 US. And I like nVidia.So that puts me in the GTX660 class of cards, pretty much.Now for that budget I see there are cards that have more VRAM - 3GB vs 2GB,or they have a slightly faster GPU speed and a faster shader clock. All the other specs remain the same for all cards in this class. But to get both it looks like I need to bump up to the Ti version and a $280+ budget.What do you think is the best bang for the buck? How important is any of this - or is it just splitting hairs?My primary application is CAD work using AutoCAD.

When I try to copy any files, transfer starts at about 70mb/s and stops after a few seconds, time left is calculating and when it starts again the speed is about 1.5mb/s. Sometimes pc doesn't find the hdd at all. I've installed the latest chipset drivers but nothing new happened.
