Orange Light, But Computer Isn't Giving Display?

Sep 22, 2012When ever I try to restart my computer it shuts off and then the power lights turn to orange and then the computer beeps twice and then waits for a few seconds and then beeps again. I have to hit the power button and then hit it again to get it to turn on and it works fine

Feb 10, 2012I had great success with this forum (and Elmer in particular) in diagnosing and helping to fix the problem with my desktop. I'm now going for the double whammy and hoping for similar help with my laptop. It's an Acer Aspire 5536G. I've had it for about 2 years or so, and it was fine for the first 8-10 months, but then started displaying some very choppy performance. Basically it runs fine for about 15 seconds, then get very slow and choppy for the next 15-20 seconds. THen it's fine again for 15 seconds... and so on. It came with Vista pre-installed, which I upgraded to Windows 7 (32-bit) a couple of months ago hoping to resolve the problem. It has made no difference. I also had a HD problem with it (it corrupted and failed to boot). I was told by several different people that a faulty HD could be the cause of the choppiness. I've now replaced the HD with a spanking new one, reinstalled everything, and I've got the same issue. It happens principally whilst gaming, and sometimes while watching video. For a while I thoguht it was an overheating issue, but I bought a cooling base with a fan in it which certainly cools the laptop right down to touch (I assume it's much cooler inside too), but makes no difference to its performance.

Nov 8, 2011I shut down the computer but did not unplug it from the surge protector. We were messing with the main breaker box in the house.When i went to turn it back on nothing. Monitor work everything and else that is plugged in to the surge protector. Took the computer apart and opened and cleaned all dust out Plugged it back in and nothing. There is a green light on the back just under the plug which is lit up (Green) as it was before I took it a part. Can't say I remember weather or not it was lit previously. Check on line and suggestions are the power supply may be bad. However I can't seam to find out if the power supply would be bad would the green light be on, which seams to be connected to the power supply box.

Windows 7 and XP. When I use Windows 7 then my computer specially hard drive light stays on and mouse is busy and I have to restart my laptop however in my XP this problem is never seen. I also installed vista and deep formatted the hard drive but the problem still persists in windows 7. The system is normal but when I surf internet via mozilla or chrome. This problem arises. I have done everytrouble shooting I can chkdsk and everything but when I use chkdsk in my western digital harddrive, it says error. I am thinking its harddrive issue what do u say?

Feb 11, 2011I run Windows 7 64bit os with an Orange high Speed (!) mobile broadband dongle (515m). The software (Internet Everywhere) stopped working months ago and after much arguing with Orange, they admitted that it was a software compatibility problem with my os but promised that an update would be coming soon. They gave a workaround which meant the dongle worked on dial up (with associated speed). However, after waiting months for the update, it's finally arrived but it still doesn't work! Just like the last software version, after installing it clean, it crashes at start up and won't operate. Last night I had to stay up hours to roll back my system to get the dial up working again as it prevented that from working too. I'm really sick of this and Orange's response has been woefully unsatisfactory, bordering on insulting. The latest gem was to uninstall everything internet connected then download the software! How? This has been pretty much the level of response from Orange. I'm about ready to cancel my contract with them for breach of contract.

WiFi Icon Shows Orange Star - Pending Connection
Jun 7, 2012I recently purchased the Dell XPS 14z and it has been working fine, however when I take it out to work (where there's no wifi connections) a red 'x' now appears on the wifi icon in the task tray. Usually it just shows an orange star and is essentially 'pending' connections. When I try and use my BlackBerry Bold 9900 to connect using the mobile internet it says that it can't connect as the wifi radio may be off? This hasn't happened before and I've tried everything to troubleshoot it with no luck.

Aug 21, 2010My computer, Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 MB, worked perfectly in Win XP Pro SR3 32 bit. Computer went to sleep and would awaken immediately when mouse, Logitech LX7 wireless/optical or space bar were hit. I upgraded the OS to Win 7 Pro x64. The upgrade went well other than me having to learn the new system. One major problem is that when the computer is idle and the display turns off I have problems trying to wake the computer. I move the mouse and the display turns on immediately and the mouse will move a short distance and then freeze. The cursor will stay locked for 30 seconds to a minute and I will again be able control the mouse. However if the computer hasn't been used for a number of hours the display awakes and the mouse moves a short distance but I'm never able to regain control of the mouse as it stays locked in place and I have to reboot to use the computer. I have searched these forums and have carefully checked both the BIOS and the Advanced Power Management Setting to make sure that the computer is never allowed to Hibernate and that the HD is not turned off and that every power saving function is disabled - all to no avail.

I tried switching RAMs to isolate the problem but no go.I tried disconnecting the hard drives and booted from a USB stick and still the same.Removed my Graphics Card and it did make difference. The screen went blank instead of freezing up. My onboard GPU is ATI 4250.I took my Mobo to the ASUS service center and the cleared that there's no issues.There are no thermal events as well.
Display Driver Freezes Computer?
Feb 10, 2012My wife recently bought Emachines(Acer)E732zg laptop and since the beginning has problem with display driver. Computer keeps freezing randomly and only way to fix it is to take the battery out for a few seconds because nothing else responds. Driver is for AMD Radeon HD 6370M graphic card and it has been updated. I fixed the problem by rolling the driver back. Now everything works fine but without graphic card which is not the point(can't hook laptop to TV anymore, play games e.t.c.).

My problem is that even though my HDMI cable's plugged into my Radeon graphics card, sometimes the PC only recognizes the Acer monitor and not the receiver (that's connected to the HDMI cable and my HDTV). So I end up having to plug and unplug the HDMI cable several times (sometimes 10+) before it recognizes the HDTV/receiver connection. Is there any setting that would favor the card/PC recognizing the HDMI cable more frequently? I've heard it's a handshake issue, and that maybe using a different type of cable would work. But wondering if there's a setting I could use before switching out cables.
