I shut down the computer but did not unplug it from the surge protector. We were messing with the main breaker box in the house. When i went to turn it back on nothing. Monitor work everything and else that is plugged in to the surge protector. Took the computer apart and opened and cleaned all dust out Plugged it back in and nothing. There is a green light on the back just under the plug which is lit up (Green) as it was before I took it a part. Can't say I remember weather or not it was lit previously. Check on line and suggestions are the power supply may be bad. However I can't seam to find out if the power supply would be bad would the green light be on, which seams to be connected to the power supply box.
I have an annoying little problem when my computer is turned on the fans start but the green light in the front is just flashing. I can get it to boot if i push the other button which is set to turn on off sleep but it takes a random amount of times before it works. I'm wondering if reinstall of win 7 will do the trick.Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional , 64 bitProcessor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-Core Processor, AMD64 Family 16 Model 2 Stepping 3Processor Count: 4RAM: 8191 MbGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT, 1024 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 305242 MB, Free - 146202 MB; Motherboard: BIOSTAR Group, A740G M2+, 6.0, None
I am using the Windows 7 Beta 7100. My kid play games and now my Key Board is no longer respond (to type) and the Number Lock light is Green. I could not do anything to turn it Off (number lock). The PC is working fine, by using the mounse. Is there a shortcut key i can hit to get the control back on my Key Board? Also if i click on the shortcut icon, normally it will open the application or folder, now it is open the Properties.
I'm using a Fujitsu S6520 that I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (32 bit). The fujitsu comes with 8 preset screen backlight levels that can be adjusted via the fn key on the keyboard. Prior to this, I was using Windows XP on the same computer, and I used to set the backlight at level 3. After upgrading to Windows 7, even level 2 is too bright (it is slightly higher than level 3 on windows xp even), and level 1 is too dark. The jump is drastic. Oddly, when I am in BIOS mode, the backlight levels work fine. The jumps are gradual, and like how it was in Windows XP, level 3 is a comfortable level. I notice that I can control the backlight via Windows Mobility Centre. But even there, the levels along the slider are preset. The lowest backlight is 1, the 2nd is 15, 3rd is 29 and so on. If there is a way that I could reduce backlight level 2 on my computer to around 10 or 11 in Windows Mobility Centre, that would be perfect.
I'm still fairly new to windows 7 and i have found a bug or something with mine. I normally have my windows start bar (the bar with all my open windows) set to be transparent. When I close my laptop screen it sets it to hibernation and a good portion of the time when I start it up again my start bar will be a solid light blue color.
It changes the way the windows work and frankly it's annoying! When I restart the computer it goes back to normal but there are times that I can't restart it due to a buggy Art program that won't allow me to save for a while and I'll loose everything. When I go into personalization I try and fix it and even if I change it back to transparent it stays solid until I restart my computer.

I am little bit worried about my harddrive. Previously I had 80 gb harddrive and then I upgraded it to 320 gb. I have dell latitude d630 laptop with two operating system. Windows 7 and XP. When I use Windows 7 then my computer specially hard drive light stays on and mouse is busy and I have to restart my laptop however in my XP this problem is never seen. I also installed vista and deep formatted the hard drive but the problem still persists in windows 7. The system is normal but when I surf internet via mozilla or chrome. This problem arises. I have done everytrouble shooting I can chkdsk and everything but when I use chkdsk in my western digital harddrive, it says error. I am thinking its harddrive issue what do u say?

Last year I built my first PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking to build another computer. I'm looking to build a small, quite and low energy consuming computer.I'm aware that it's small size and hopefully low power consumption that the choice of hardware, performance and speed will be constrained. I would however pay a premium for better components to get the best performance and speed to power consumption ratio.I don't want a fan and I don't need an optical drive. I would like usb 3.0 as I have a few 3.0 externals and HDMI out but it's not esseintal..Size wise I'd be looking for that would fit into a briefcase or bag. The smaller the better.
I have a problem with the entries in the start menu. Normaly I have Swedish which is what the system is set to use. But for some reason the entries in the start menu is english now!How can I change that back? Maybe it hapened when I installed and run the program "Advanced System Care" which was suposed to be a good program, but I'm not sure. I didn't help to uninstall it by the way.
For some reason, my start menu has suddenly become ridiculously tall, spanning the entire height of the screen. This image might give a better idea: imgur: the simple image sharer.
I have no idea how or why this happened. I tried searching for the problem, but I can't find a single thing even remotely related. My recent items count is at 0, so it's nothing to do with that. I've already tried fiddling about with the setting for that, but with no success at all. I tried a system restore to before this occurred, but this had absolutely no effect either. It's only affecting this profile, and no others (although, really, the only others are guest or temp accounts).
When i got home today didn't my computer work, my girlfriend has been the last one using it. So don't know how things were just before the shutdown or anything.when i turn on the computer i get to the screen where "touch bios" is and where i can see the options like Bios settings, boot menu, xpress recovery.but i cant press anything, and after about two seconds on that screen the PC shuts down again. The keyword lights up so there is a responds on it, but just doesn't work to press anything before it shuts down.I've got BSOD upto several times a day for a few months time.believe that my computer is affected by some virus or something is delaying my computer. might be an combination of several things.I got no external things hugged up to the stationeer computer right now.it is a windows 7 x64 machine. usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.
My computer has been doing this for awhile...I've had it for over 4 years and it works fine but it seems like lately my computer will freeze for a second and then it makes a suddle click sound then it comes back...Computer is not making loud noises or anything but when it freezes it sounds like it is switching gears before it works like normal again.Someone told me Memory issue and I have Memtest but not sure how to use the ISO.

When I try to start back from the last time it was ok, don't work either. I tried downloading something named AVG rescue cd and it doesn't seem to work either....my computer doesn't seem to wanna read CD's or DVD's.
dont have a clue, trying to get files from back up discs on my computer, after having to reset back to like new.lost everything, but have back up discs, just dont know how to do it
so everytime I log-in to my computer it basically restores back to a certian point. And also It starts as a black screen with nothing except for my mouse until I open Task manager and run explorer.exe which for some reason doesnt run on its own anymore. Its probably due to the fact that I wanted to put a cool theme on my computer and that involves replacing the explorer.exe file and explorerframe.dll file, and I did that. But then I decided I didn't need a theme so I put the original Explorer.exe and explorerframe.dll back on to replace the ones I put on before. It changed everything back to normal except for the start orb. I wanted the old start back or atleast a new one. So I got windows Start orb changer. It worked well for some time until at one point everytime I turned on my computer I got an error saying expstart.exe failed and something about bitmaps. and It just black screens until I run explorer.exe from the task manager...and goes back a day or so
I have tried to uninstall McAfee 5 times each time I have had to restore to get the computer back up and running.First I uninstalled with windows then I uninstalled with McAfee tool then I right clicked it to run as admin then I found a setting in McAfee that said do not delete McAfee system files changed that then I tried in safe mode still no luck called McAfee then did remote tech support they uninstalled it and it blues creened. Now they are saying it is not their fault since McAfee is uninstalled!!
I am having a problem with a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium. I have always liked the Hibernate feature and used it extensively when I was running Windows Vista Ultimate. Since installing Windows 7, whenever I run Hibernate the computer turns back on. When I used Hibernate in Windows Vista Ultimate I knew that the programs that I left open would be where I left off when I restarted the computer from Hibernate. Now, it just seems to turn on when it wants to. I am sure it is a setting in the Power Settings category in Control Panel. I'm just not sure how to set.
My computer randomly shuts down and in 3 seconds it starts again .
