View 14 Replies View RelatedWhenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

The network configuration of the notebook PC appears correct.
The configuration of the desktop PC is flawed - The Network Discovery property is OFF. All attempts to set the property to ON fail.
How do I correct this flaw?
In schools they often lock down their computers so that it boots the same image every time, and none of the changes from the users are stored when they shut down the computer. I'm looking to do this for my HTPC aswell. I want to set it up to boot the same image for my C-partition every time, I'm storing all the my databases with mediainfo and watched tags on a separate partition so that info should still be saved after a shutdown.

View 1 Replies View Relatedim having a bit of an issue, im looking for something very specific, some kinda software where i can just initiate a lock on my computer, see i have 3 kids and my sons usually enter my room and totally destroy my desktop, along with opening many instances of games, even sending out email haha, doing things they are not suppose to be doing.
Anyway, i figured hey ill just put a really short screen saver password on my computer, well they still play with it, trying to use or get into it, they end up shutting it off via the button in the log in screen area after u move the mouse to deactivate the screen saver.
Im wondering if one of you guys know out there something i can run to lock my computer up while im not using it, but still keep running my programs/servers in the background, similar to a screen saver password only with no option to shut my computer off, i can disable the screen saver password in light of some other software where i could maybe just double click on something and then enter a password when i want to unlock it
if anyone has or knows a good piece of software they trust they can suggest to me im more then willing to give your suggestions a try, a quick Google search yields some results however i have trust issues, "what if i lock myself out of the computer permanently..etc" and would rather have some experienced users , plus maybe it will serve others looking for the same thing in the future
My wife's laptop has developed a bad habit of randomly locking up to the point you have to hold the power button to shut the laptop off. I'm just wondering if it's possible to get Windows to write a crash dump off events like that, or is that at the point where it's just not going to happen even with the correct options selected?
The laptop is a HP G62 Notebook PC running Windows 7. More exact information can be provided if needed.
I don't this language bar anywhere else. But when when lock my computer the little "EN" icon appears in the top left hand corner. I can't seem to disable it

View 0 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to Auto log on but still have a password.I want it to log in and not stop at the log in screen. So it will do a full boot with out user intervention, but still require a password to access the computerReason being is my netbook takes forever to log in to. But I still want the added security of a password. was thinking about a script file that will lock the computer, placed in the start up folder, but it would be annoying to be on the desktop doing stuff then get sent to the lock screen, when the start up scripts finely runs. (being one of the last things to run). It would be simple to by pass, by deleting the script before it has a chance to run when the computer logs in.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are now several ways of locking a computer to block things like internet surfing during a specific time period. I have unfortunately found a problem. All that one needs to do to defeat these programs is to change the system time. I use Kaspersky which allows blocking applications from operating. Is the system time controlled by an accessible software so that it could be blocked from being changed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn various pictures, I've seen it read the XMP "Title" tag, the EXIF "Description" or "User Comment" tag, the IPTC "Caption" tag, even Keywords or Sub-categories.
So my question is, what's the limit to it all? I would think that "Title" would only display a metadata tag with a similar name, like XMP DublinCore Title, or, if it could only find its IPTC counterpart in a file, Fixture Identifier. I suppose that when you don't give yourselves all that much space to work with, as is the case with the bottom panel of a Windows 7 Explorer window, doubling- and tripling-up like this can be considered practical. Maybe I haven't looked far & wide enough. All the same, I think that a tooltip or some easily-gotten-at description of the fields in that bottom 3/5 of the window would be more than enough to satisfy one's curiosity.
I won't add mischief to misery and ask "Why was this done?" as I've already partly come up with a reasonable answer myself (available space within the bounds of the window). I'll just ask if anyone else has been curious about this, and if so, invite them to comment here on this thread.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer, Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 MB, worked perfectly in Win XP Pro SR3 32 bit. Computer went to sleep and would awaken immediately when mouse, Logitech LX7 wireless/optical or space bar were hit. I upgraded the OS to Win 7 Pro x64. The upgrade went well other than me having to learn the new system. One major problem is that when the computer is idle and the display turns off I have problems trying to wake the computer. I move the mouse and the display turns on immediately and the mouse will move a short distance and then freeze. The cursor will stay locked for 30 seconds to a minute and I will again be able control the mouse. However if the computer hasn't been used for a number of hours the display awakes and the mouse moves a short distance but I'm never able to regain control of the mouse as it stays locked in place and I have to reboot to use the computer. I have searched these forums and have carefully checked both the BIOS and the Advanced Power Management Setting to make sure that the computer is never allowed to Hibernate and that the HD is not turned off and that every power saving function is disabled - all to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Computer display keeps freezing up after 10 or 15 mins I turn my PC on. The following is my hardware specs:
ASUS M5A88-V EVO
AMD FX6100
XFX ATI 4670 1GB
8 GB DDR3 (Corsair and Transcend - 4x2) 1333MHZ
2 TB Seagate HDD
500 GB WD HDD
Zebronics 800W power supply
LG D2342P 23" LED Display running on Dual Link DVI
I tried switching RAMs to isolate the problem but no go.I tried disconnecting the hard drives and booted from a USB stick and still the same.Removed my Graphics Card and it did make difference. The screen went blank instead of freezing up. My onboard GPU is ATI 4250.I took my Mobo to the ASUS service center and the cleared that there's no issues. There are no thermal events as well.
My wife recently bought Emachines(Acer)E732zg laptop and since the beginning has problem with display driver. Computer keeps freezing randomly and only way to fix it is to take the battery out for a few seconds because nothing else responds. Driver is for AMD Radeon HD 6370M graphic card and it has been updated. I fixed the problem by rolling the driver back. Now everything works fine but without graphic card which is not the point(can't hook laptop to TV anymore, play games e.t.c.).
