New Card, Screen Goes All Colored Have To Reboot Only With Videos
Oct 9, 2012
the screen going on the fritz only when playing a video. i have not tried playing a video on vlc or wmp to test this but it seems almost every time a video pops up on a website, or if i go to Internet, my screen goes crazy.per the other thread, i swept my old drivers and re-installed the newest (which was 12.9 beta) and everything is ok, cept these videos. to fix it, i have once or twice gotten lucky and been able to hit escape and it goes back to normal. otherwise, i have to hit the power button and make it go into sleep/lock mode. i have a second monitor hooked up and it doesn't do what monitor one does, which is very odd.card is xfx radeon r7770 ultra overclocked black edition (factory overclocked)p.s. tried to use the uploader for pic and it wasn't working for me at all. tried to use imgur also, said it was down for maint.
am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Aspire, Intel i5-2430M 2.4 GHZ, 64 bit Operating System. We only bought this at the end of December, 2011! When I am on Blogger, I haven't noticed it otherwise, when I move my mouse, sometimes the whole screen goes patchwork. There are squares of yellow, green and orange covering the screen, except for the address bar. (I attached a picture) I can navigate to a new address and it goes away. I am just a bit concerned there is a virus. I have run a full scan with Super Anti Spyware and I quite regularly use Crap Cleaner.
When my computer finishes starting up, it ends with what looks like blobs of colored pixels in a line at the top of my screen. This happened for the first time tonight and I have no clue what happened. I took out my video card and plugged my monitor into the mother boards vga slot. Same result. Then i used a HDMI cable from my monitor to my motherboards HDMI slot. Still, with the same result. I plugged my Xbox 360 up to monitor with the HDMI cable and it looks fine so it's not on the monitor's end.
When the computer is loading, the screen stays black. Then when my desktop would normally show is when the pixels show up and the rest of the screen is black.
My mom has a Compaq laptop. It has Windows 7. Yesterday, the screen randomly turned a blue-ish green color. The Google Chrome new tab page is where she first noticed. It's pretty much wherever there should be white, there's that funny color. When I restart it, the white Compaq "Q" logo is green instead of white. The "Starting Windows" text is green and the light inside of the Windows logo is green also.
Windows 7 freezes as dots begin to come together, 2 tiny dots (red & yellow), then goes to black screen. Startup repair boots to light Microsoft logo. Won't boot from 3 recovery dvds, or reinstall, goes to same screen. Gateway DX4320, AMD Phenom II, Stock hardware
My Gateway runs great until a restart is requested by me or a program. A few days ago, it would restart just fine. When I select Restart, the computer appears to shut down fine, it beeps to restart, the Windows 7 screen begins to open but it freezes with three colored dots on the screen. It always stops in exactly the same place.
If I kill power, then boot again I get an offer for Windows to repair itself. If I let it, it cannot repair. If I select Boot Windows Normally, all is well. Except for this one problem, things are really running well. Odd. I've run Chkdsk, SFC/ SCANNOW, and PC Pitstop Optimize3. Nothing finds a problem or fixes anything.

I have a Acer Aspire 5542-1462 laptop, windows 7. One out of every 3 boot-ups the comp. freezes at the desktop with the screen shaking with long colored lines or short lines in a small area of the screen.
I tried to do a routine (once a year) chkdsk via the command prompt Code: > chkdsk /r > shutdown /r /f /t 1 . And upon the reboot, all I get is a black screen, no cursor, with ~4 rows of rainbow, garbled pixels at the very top of the monitor (certain pixels occasionally change colours). This occurs before the windows splash screen. I have left the computer as is, hoping it will eventually boot on its own with no luck. This was just a routine check. Some more information, I dual-boot with Ubuntu. I can mount and access the windows partition from Ubuntu, and I even ran ntfsfix in Ubuntu (which has some analogous functionality to chkdsk), but it didn't notice any problems.
My computer has a problem with crashing while playing a video in full screen. When it crashes the screen turns black while the speakers give out a buzzing noise. Everything is unresposive the only solution is to turn it off with the power button. It happens in any full screen video online or offline and even visualizations from windows media player and iTunes, but only in full screen. I don't think it's overheating either because sometimes it takes 30 mins to crash and other times it will crash immediately when put in full screen. *I've tried setting it back to factory settings thus reinstalling windows. *All the directx features are working with no reported problem there.* I don't think it's a memory issue in the computer, as my specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit Processor: intel core i5 3.20 GHz Ram: 8 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Graphics card memory: 0.5 GB Any other ideas?
alright so just recently my screen has been dimming when i stream videos(south park studios, Internet). i have my laptop screen set to dim after three minutes of being inactive, but i thought watching videos was an active process. after five minutes my laptop screen turns off, which is how i have it set for inactive use.
i'm using an hp dv7t laptop with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit installed.
maybe this isn't a problem with windows, but a problem with the browser i am using? i'm using the latest version of firefox.
I upgraded my graphics card driver 2-3 days ago with no problems until today when my laptop crashed couple of times when I was playing LeagueOfLegends, and again when playing a video (using VLC). When I disable my graphics card driver all is fine, but when I play a game with the graphics card enabled I get a blue screen.
My wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore. When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.
every time i'm doing a restart to my computer i see on the network icon next to the clock a yellow triangle that indicate on a problem. when i open it i see "no network..."
in order to fix it i need to DISABLE & ENABLE my network card and after this step the connection is back & i have internet. Someone know why i have this problem & how to fix it for good?
I have a computer with a P4MST890 Pentium D 3.0GHz, 9800GTX+ and a 500GB SATA. When I put Windows 7 on it the first time it worked perfect and I restarted it a few times and it loaded each time but the next morning I turned it on and it would fall into a reboot loop. If I remove the Graphics card and use the onboard card it works fine. This has really puzzled me on what could make it do that because it worked the first time with it in there.
i have this problem with my pc. when i play you tube video"s and other video"s online, the area where the video is playing on the screen goes green(not the whole screen),and i cant see the video,it is quite random coz some you tube video"s work ok,my adobe flash player is up to date,i reinstalled windows 7 64bit a few weeks ago,my system was running fine and then started to do this,it is fine when gaming,no problems,i will list my pc spec"s below

over past week i've just recently installed win 7 x64 ultimate.everything runs fine and smooth except for watching full screen videos, while watching video in full screen after approx 4/5 mins of viewing the screen will auto close or go back to compact view which is extremely irratating, this happens withany type of media player for example , vlc player , wmp 11 , internet explorer 9 Internet videos or any in browser players, so basically anything that plays videos full screen will be reduced back to compact view or boxed screen after 4/5 of it being in full screen mode.1. disabled aero & windows 7 default main theme and using windows classic theme.2. checked to make sure graphics card has latest update from nvidia.3. went through avast anti virus for any apparent interference.4. re-installed graphics driver incase original install was bugged/glitched.5. checked all media programs & players where up to date & compatible with x64.6. searched via google for my issue with which no one has yet found solution.
7. direct x is of latest direct x 11.computer details & things to take into consideration:- nvidia gtx 260 graphics card & latest updated driver.- latest avast anti virus.- 4gb ram ddr3- i7 920 @ 2.65 ghz cpu.- with system being just recently installed there isn't much if any programs installed to interfere with system operation.final note;i had exact same antivirus and graphics card on vista ultimate x32 both with same latest updates and there was no problem running videos in full screen previously beforre upgradi to win 7 x64
I'm having a serious problem when trying to watch videos in full scream. When in full screen, the videos get slow, lagging in various scenes, sometimes with cuts in the audio too.
My config is Sempron 2600+, 1.5gb ram and Geforce 5500 256MB 128 bits. Display 22", 1680x1050 resolution. I'm using nvidia beta driver for Windows 7 (it seems to be the same driver used for Windows Vista, don't know).
I tried lots of codecs and players, nothing works. Windows Media Player and Media Player classic are working almost perfectly than any other players, but I really hate WMP.
I tried to change the settings in nVidia Control Panel, but I can't find the nvidia control panel, it's not in the right button menu.
I installed the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance and it's slow too, but I have all the requirements to play it smoothly. I'm using build 7600. How can I solve this?
I have bought and used Biostar hd 5670 card for a few week ago. I got many experience about this card because it always go blank while I try to play the videos like .mp4 .mkv and HD movies. It also on media decoding assesement and watching videos online. This problems blow up after close the player or done watching. I tried a lots of solution like update adobe flash player, update AMD Catalyst to Version 12.10, Test with other motherboard, change PSU+more. Finally it still the same. Or it need to configure a crossfirex to work?. It still works well for gaming just video problems.
My system: OS:Win 7 Ultimate 64bit Mb:AsRock H77M CPU:i5 3470 RAM:8gb GC:1gb Biostar HD 5670(also include gold finger connector on board design) PSU:600 watt
It work on the old system which spec: Asus p5kpl am-se,intel pentium 4, 1gb ddr2, but when ram upgrade to 2gb the problem back again. i don't understand why?
Alright so a couple months ago my computer crashed and I was told it was a hard drive problem. So I got a new hard drive and installed it myself reinstalling windows and everything else. After a bout a week my computer would randomly shut off the screens image would become jumbled with dark lines running horizontally across and then it would either shut off or give me the BSOD. The BSOD flashes fast so I can't write down any information from it. This has happened repeatedly for about 3 months since every couple days. Usually I leave my laptop alone for about 15 min and then I can start it up again. The problem seems to happen mostly when i watch videos or go on sites with a lot of media going on. I think I've installed all the drivers i need to. I'm hoping it is not a hardware problem because i just bought this hard drive. I never had this problem before when i had the old hard drive. If any one could give me some help that would be awesome. I also ran check disk and it came up with nothing. My laptop is an HP G72 Notebook running windows 7. Hard drive is a western digital 250 gb.
I can't get sound from any of the web pages I've visited. I tried to install a codec package, and it won't allow me. I am the sole user of the computer, I'm running W7 64bit with a X-Fi soundcard. All other sound works fine and it is hooked up via spdif optical link to a seperate surround sound system.
Therefore, My first question, How do I get the sound to work?
2nd question, even if is or isn't the codec issue, why won't windows update the registry with the codec installation package (1402 error). I am the administrator!
So I thought I had a problem with my graphics card or display as whenever the computer went to sleep the screen would not come back on unless I reboot. Since then I have done testing and the sleep mode works fine, but it was actually when I was trying to run WEI. It starts off okay but then goes to a black screen after a few moments and won't come back on
I have an HP Pavilion g series laptop (running Windows 7) that is in a continuous restarting loop. This happened after the computer auto updated (windows update). I do not know what was updated, but now every time the laptop starts up it seems to be in a continuous rebooting loop after the windows logo then a blue flash. I am unable to go into safe mode or any other mode as I keep getting redirected to a page that gives me two options:Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Startup repair gives me the same results as trying to run in safe mode.
I have an HP Envy 14. It has been working fine, except for when I reboot. For some reason, when I reboot, my screen goes black. My homescreen inevitably pops up, and a popup says that it was a graphics card error. This is fine, because I still get my stuff back. However..Today, windows 7 (x64) said it had updates, so I update and reboot. After the reboot, my computer was in a completely different resolution (800x600).I tried right clicking and going to "screen resolution", but it wouldn't let me change back to my old resolution (1366x768 or something like that). It says that the only other setting is 1024x768. I have full administrative rights, I haven't installed or used any programs except the windows install. The last program I used was GIMP. Why won't it let me change back my resolution?
upon startup - the processor is whirring the indicator lights come on and after a few minutes the fan starts to spin. But the screen remains black - nothing. I was told to try starting it and tapping F8 repeatedly, but nothing comes on the screen. I hooked up a monitor to this machine thinking maybe the screen was bad. Nothing. What's next/
i got to experience black screen of death and reboot my system. I have had my computer for less then 2 weeks and could take it back to best buy. Should i do that or is it going to be good as new? is it all win 7?
If I reboot my desktop goes thru the procedure but the monitor stays black - nothing, not even the safety screen and no cursor. There is an amber light on the monitor which goes green when it receives its wake up call but it remains amber. I have to switch the power off entirely before switching it on again, and rebooting and this time the screen works. I've run scandisk, I've gone thru scannow, I've installed the latest graphics card drivers. I've tried changing the power settings. Bear in mind that this set up and computer has worked perfectly for 2 years and as all the hardware is working I believe it to be a software issue.
