New Dell Windows 7 Stuck In Resuming Windows

Nov 19, 2011

My new Dell is stuck in 'resuming windows' and I have tried everything I could find on-line, but nothing works. Have tried F8 but can not get into Safe Mode. Did the diagnostics, but all okay. Alt, ctl, delete does nothing. Now when I power up it freezes on the Dell splash screen then says Hard-disk drive failure. Strike f1 to continue, f2 to run setup utility. If I hit ft I get: No boot device available, Press any key to reboot the system. Then it goes through the Dell splash screen and resuming windows, then black screen. When this started I had a music cd in the drive and accidentally powered it on. When it came up to the password screen I typed in my password but the 'enter' key would not work. On the monitor there were two little red squares at the bottom right and a blue one with a circle in it on the bottom left (something like that anyway... trying to remember). I had never seen these before... Don't know if this had anything to do with what is going on. It was locked up so I powered it off, back on and now keep getting resuming windows.

Dell / Windows 7 Stuck In Infinite Boot Loop?

Jun 16, 2011

A Dell Inspiron E1705, w/ 2x2gb mem, 500 gb hd, ATI Radeon x1400 vid and Win 7.There were no Dell drivers or programs and the system BIOS was ver A01. Checking the Dell website against the Service Tag, I found 22 drivers and programs specific to the computer. Most of them ran and installed under Win 7 with no trouble. The last one was the bios flash utility program to update the bios to ver A10. The bios flashed, seemed to go ok. But on system reboot, after the initial screem about resetting the memory sticks, the computer is stuck in an infinite reboot loop.It loads the initial POST screen, completes the POST, seeks for its boot device and when it finds and starts to access the installed HD it reboots. I have reset all the bios settings to factory default settings. I have pulled the system battery and "cleared the cmos", but no joy there. I have created a bootable usb flash drive with another Dell laptop, and the computer will boot from that. I have other bootable cd's, and the computer will boot from them. I can use the bootable cd's to determine that the programs they run (freeware backup programs and a copy of bart pe) can access the installed hd,and see the files there, so the installed hd is intact. But i still can't get the computer to boot from it.My first thought was to reinstall the ver A01 bios, but it would not complete the process and remained at ver .A10. I was able to flash bios A09, and then A07, etc, all the way back to ver A04. But after that I could go back no further, A02 and A01 flash utilities returned an error message. If I found some compatible mem sticks and a smaller hd, installed them, could I reflash bios ver A02 or A01? Would that do me any good? (I have 2 x 256 mg mem sticks from a dell inspiron 5100 which I upgraded to 2x1gb, and a 40 gb 2.5in hd that also came out of the 5100, so I could use those parts in the e1705 to reflash the earlier bios)

Dell Dimension 2400 Windows 7 Screen Resolution Stuck At 480 X 640

Mar 29, 2012

I have recently loaded Windows 7 (Home Premium) on to a Dell Dimension 2400 (32 bit). Installation went smoothly but screen resolution is stuck at 480 x 640 which makes the computer practically unworkable. I understand (but am nor sure) that Dell does not support Windows 7 on this machine and the only solution is a new video card.

Can't Get Passed Resuming Windows Screen

Apr 29, 2012

When I turn on the laptop (Dell Inspiron) it gets to the Resuming Windows screen then goes to a blank screen and then hangs forever.

There is just a blank black screen and the mouse cursor. I can move the mouse cursor but there is nothing to click on. F8 does't seem to take me into safe mode or anything like that.

I can get into bios and boot menu before it gets to the Resuming Windows screen but don't know what to do there.

Windows Resuming After Sleep Mode?

Intermittent BSOD, Trouble Resuming Windows?

Jan 25, 2013

System Spec:64 bit- I built the machine August 2010, I have not reinstalled the OS since. Full Retail Version of Windows 7.I have been experiencing problems with this machine since about a month after I built it in August 2011. At first I would get a BSOD just every once in a while. I am at architecture school and I didn't have time to address the issue, so I just kept a diligent written log of every time I noticed it happening. I have included that as an attachment. You'll notice that there was not an obvious trigger - it would not crash as soon as I opened something, or as soon as I tried to use the sound card. It would happen both while I was working in Adobe Illustrator, and when I left my computer idle to go grab a cup of coffee or something like that. I have included all the dump files I have as attachments.Recently, however, Windows has had trouble resuming. I can't figure out exactly what is happening because it hasn't happened while I was at my computer yet. But, pretty much every time I return to my computer after a 10 minute absence, I come back to a black screen with a blinking white underscore in the top left corner. I think it has something to do with the machine going to sleep and having trouble resuming windows.
Another clue, which I've researched a little bit, is that I think I heard a single beep the other day. Granted, I'm in a studio with 50 other people and there are cellphones, headphones tons of computer and all kinds of noise, but I'm sure enough about what I heard to include it here. The forums I checked suggested this was a problem with the RAM.Here is a list of the components from the NewEgg invoice:

'Resuming Windows' Screen Where Everything Turns Off And Screen Goes Black

May 25, 2011

I have recently bought a computer and I have found that when I turn it on it runs normally until after the "Resuming Windows" screen, where everything turns off and the screen goes black. It had been running well for the last few days, so this came out of nowhere.I have searched this problem and I come up with a bunch of different solutions but no one agrees. The most common reason (apparently) is my version of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) and I need to install something or other. But I can't even get to the desktop, and no one really explains it simply. BSOD Resuming From Suspend/Sleep?

May 16, 2012

I just built a new computer and had it running stable for several days with all hardware except the graphics card and a new monitor. After plugging the new video card, I believe the system remained stable, but am not 100% confident since it only survived overnight. After plugging the new monitor (HP z2740w) and connecting via USB crashes started occurring when resuming from sleep.

I tried uninstalling the graphics drivers and the problem seems to have stopped for now, so I'm reinstalling to see if anything changes.

Windows 7 Pro 64 OEM (System Builder) Everything in the machine is brand new except the hard drives. Installation age is a few days.

Error Message When Resuming From Hibernation

Jul 22, 2009

When coming out of hibernation in Windows 7, I get the following error message:

"Your system's firmware did not preserve the system memory map across the hibernation transition. If you proceed with resume, your system could behave in an unexpected manner after resume completes. It is recommended that you save all your data and reboot after system resume finishes. Kindly check for a firmware update with your system vender as it may fix this problem."

Windows 7 continues to resume and I have not noticed any problems once it resumes.

I am dual booting Vista 64 bit SP2 and Windows 7 64bit on an HP DV3510NR. I recently flashed the latest bios version for my system dated May 2009.

I have no problem resuming from hibernation when booted into Vista. Has anyone else gotten this error message. Any thoughts on how to go about solving this?

Laptop Is Delayed In Resuming From Sleep?

Sep 16, 2012

About 75% of the time, when I lift the lid to resume my laptop from sleep, the laptop will not resume immediately. The screen will remain black, the wifi light stays disabled, and while I can hear the fan, nothing else really happens.Usually after anywhere from 3 to 20 seconds, though, the laptop will eventually wake up, and I believe it tends to be when the hard drive actually starts spinning -- the hard drive light will blink and I'll hear the faint 'click' of the hard diskThe resume used to be more or less instant. I've reformatted since I first noticed this problem, yet I still have it, which makes me think it might be a hardware issue

How To Turn On Wifi Adapter After Resuming From S3 Sleep

Nov 7, 2011

My adapter is always gone from resuming from sleep. I know it was working before. Just changed my ram and bios settings from a fresh build. Went from Corsair xms3 to G.Skill Ripjaws.

I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy.

I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.

Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have case fans that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1.

Is this just not a working feature? I've read that sleep is an ongoing issue with Windows, but my pc sleeps fine. I just want to be able to put my pc to S3 sleep and resume with a working wifi card. There must be a key setting i'm missing because i'm sure it was working with my last set of ram.

Stop Hard Drives Spinning Up After Resuming From Sleep?

Apr 2, 2012

I have got an HTPC/Server that has a lot of hard drives in it. The OS is run off a SSD and of all the hard drives, the one that really gets used is 1.5TB WD drive for recording of the television.

I have set Windows up so it turns off hard disks off after 20 minutes if they are not being used which is fine, but my problem is that my computer automatically goes into Sleep Mode (S3 hybrid sleep) when it is not recording anything and when it wakes up all the hard drives spin back up.

Is there any way to keep hard drives spun down even when resuming from sleep?

Computer Resuming Immediately From Sleep After SSD Install Attempt?

Sep 23, 2012

Windows 7 64-bit
ASUS P7P55D-E LX
Core i5-750

Just the other day, I bought a Samsung 830 SSD and tried to install it yesterday. There were several problems, including the SSD not showing up in disk management and Windows Explorer, but showing up in device manager, and showing up in the BIOS. The biggest problem, however, was learning that my motherboard could not do SATA 6 without halving my PCI-E x16 lane. Anyway, I decided to hold off on the SSD until my next build and I'm sending it back.

The issue now is that I cannot put my computer to sleep. When I do, it resumes within a second or so. I tried unplugging every device from it, including my Ethernet cable and all USB devices, and it still persists. I also changed power management to disallow my network card from waking my computer, and changed the suspend mode of my USB controller to disallow them to wake the computer as well.

While installing the SSD, I recall changing the SATA 6 Marvell controller from IDE to AHCI (two SATA 6 ports are controlled by Marvell (into which I plugged my SSD) and the others by JMicron). As of writing, the Marvell controller is back to IDE and has nothing plugged into it. I also installed a few SATA controller drivers while attempting to get SATA 6 speeds and trying to figure out why my SSD was not showing up in disk management (I could not even format it via a right-click and it had no drive letter).

My suspend mode is set to "Auto" in BIOS, same as it's always been. Perhaps this has nothing to do with my failed installation of the SSD. But it only began after I tried to install it.

Computer Becomes Slow And Cranky And Even Crashes After Resuming From The Hibernation Or Sleeping?

Dec 30, 2011

First and foremost, details of my lappy:Asus A43SWIndows 7 64 bitAMD Radeon HD 673Intel core i7 8gb RAMIt is a new lap, just bought 2 mths ago.Noticed the first problem with it is 1) THe computer becomes slow and cranky and even crashes after resuming from the hibernation or sleeping (fall short of a BSOD, eg can't move mouse, etc...and have to hard restart the laptop). Managed to reduce the frequency of i from always to infrequent by setting the hard disk turn off, sleep and hibernate option in the power option to never. Lots of forum explained such similar problem, but despite updating BIOS, display driver, asus ATK utility driver, etc...still persists2) Now coming to the 2nd question which I am wondering is it related to the problems after resuming from sleep/hibernate.

Got repeated BSOD today.....after I update the power4gear hybrid utility (by asus to a newer version) version 1143 to 1150. Managed to generate and use debuggin tool to see the dump file...which shows ntoskrnl.exe as possible cause. MInd you that this also the same culprit that appears in the dump file in my problem number 1(which has once BSOD during resuming from hibernate/sleep)So is number 1 and number 2 related? What is wrong actually with number 1 problem? What is ntoskrnl.exe, and how to fix it?
