View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter almost a year of "no problems" operation my PC has suddenly developed a strange will of its own on shut-down.I always put my PC into hibernate mode rather than switching it off. I use the START/Shut Down/Hibernate series of steps. Suddenly recently, my PC still goes into hibernate, as previously, but after approx 2-3 seconds the PC suddenly restarts! The only way to end PC use is now to shut it down completely which is a pain as it takes far longer to restart next time I use the machine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome weeks ago I made a reinstall of my Win7 Home Premium x64 (a Dell M1330 with 4gb RAM). After then, my machine starts having random BSOD errors when going or recovering from sleep or hibernate mode. The error is a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, with code 0x0000009f.I attach here the info grabbed with W7F Diagnostic Tool, CPU z pictures and RAMmon html report. If it helps, here is the info I see with WinDbg looking the last minidump.

Because the machine is shutdown, the ping does not give a response. In a DHCP environment, when the machine goes to sleep mode, the ip is released so not necessarily the machine can be identified with its IP.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Plextor 716-A DVD drive in my machine that's running Windows 7 32-bit, ASUS P5Q deluxe MB and 2 x SATA HDD's. The DVD drive is not found by Windows on start-up, it does not appear in My Computer or in Computer Management - basically Windows knows nothing about it.
The DVD drive is found in the BIOS and I can see it's being loaded during boot-up. I can use the drive as a bootable drive. The drive is only discovered by Windows when I enter and then resume from sleep mode or hibernation and works fine.
I just built a new computer and had it running stable for several days with all hardware except the graphics card and a new monitor. After plugging the new video card, I believe the system remained stable, but am not 100% confident since it only survived overnight. After plugging the new monitor (HP z2740w) and connecting via USB crashes started occurring when resuming from sleep.
I tried uninstalling the graphics drivers and the problem seems to have stopped for now, so I'm reinstalling to see if anything changes.
Windows 7 Pro 64 OEM (System Builder) Everything in the machine is brand new except the hard drives. Installation age is a few days.
I got a new monitor (Dell 2007wfp) and hooked it up to via VGA cable. I ordered a usb cable for it, and a DVI cable and then I went out of town for two weeks and completely unplugged all electronics including my computer. When I got back I installed the new cables, plugged everything back in, and the computer wouldn't start. The light on the PSU was flashing. I re-seated the PSU and then it came on just fine. Now every time my computer tries to resume from sleep I get a BSOD with the error "Bad_Pool_Caller".I have included the files requested in the instructions.

Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.
Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have case fans that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1.

I have got an HTPC/Server that has a lot of hard drives in it. The OS is run off a SSD and of all the hard drives, the one that really gets used is 1.5TB WD drive for recording of the television.
I have set Windows up so it turns off hard disks off after 20 minutes if they are not being used which is fine, but my problem is that my computer automatically goes into Sleep Mode (S3 hybrid sleep) when it is not recording anything and when it wakes up all the hard drives spin back up.
Is there any way to keep hard drives spun down even when resuming from sleep?

Just the other day, I bought a Samsung 830 SSD and tried to install it yesterday. There were several problems, including the SSD not showing up in disk management and Windows Explorer, but showing up in device manager, and showing up in the BIOS. The biggest problem, however, was learning that my motherboard could not do SATA 6 without halving my PCI-E x16 lane. Anyway, I decided to hold off on the SSD until my next build and I'm sending it back.
The issue now is that I cannot put my computer to sleep. When I do, it resumes within a second or so. I tried unplugging every device from it, including my Ethernet cable and all USB devices, and it still persists. I also changed power management to disallow my network card from waking my computer, and changed the suspend mode of my USB controller to disallow them to wake the computer as well.
While installing the SSD, I recall changing the SATA 6 Marvell controller from IDE to AHCI (two SATA 6 ports are controlled by Marvell (into which I plugged my SSD) and the others by JMicron). As of writing, the Marvell controller is back to IDE and has nothing plugged into it. I also installed a few SATA controller drivers while attempting to get SATA 6 speeds and trying to figure out why my SSD was not showing up in disk management (I could not even format it via a right-click and it had no drive letter).
My suspend mode is set to "Auto" in BIOS, same as it's always been. Perhaps this has nothing to do with my failed installation of the SSD. But it only began after I tried to install it.

I have a curious problem with sleep mode on my Win7 build. These issues are usually traced to needing an updated driver for the video card, but I have the most recent one and it didn't make a difference.
My system specs can be seen by clicking on More Information under my avatar, then Member Configuration. Win7 on an SSD on an Asus P7C55D Deluxe.
When I select "Sleep" from the shutdown menu, the system does go into what I usually see for sleep mode. It powers down the monitor and the moving drives, and the power light goes into a slow blink state. So far, normal. If I press the power button to come out of sleep, drives spin but the monitor does not come on and I can't do anything. Not what one wants, but not unusual if there are drivers or hardware that do not support sleep mode.
Then I pressed the hard-reset button. BIOS started as expected, but when it came time to start Win7 it restored the last session state, as if coming out of hibernate. That's unexpected: It went into the sleep state, but also wrote out hiberfile.sys. Or was that "it hibernated, but also went into sleep state?"
And Hibernate does not appear on my Shutdown menu as a choice. So for a while, I would select Sleep, cut power, and reboot. Recently, I assigned the Hibernate function to the power button, and I get a clean Hibernate when I press that button.
how I can get true Sleep mode? This same machine does true Sleep mode in XP if I boot my XP drive, with the same video card and even the same ancient SCSI card.
I have a Lenovo e525 laptop with windows 7 ultimate x64 and a second hard drive where the dvd drive was, when I wake from sleep any of the following can happen: - It wakes but the screen is dimmed and the brightness buttons donīt work so I have to reboot. - It wakes to the screen off, I have to reboot. - It wakes then after up to 30 seconds an error pop up shows and the laptop reboots without shutting down. - It wakes then after up to a minute it reboots without shutting down. - It wakes fine and I can use it, 1 out of 10 times.

I cannot set up symbols on MS debugger (after many attempts) I have attached screenshots of cpu-z (both tabs) and my event viewer which lists 24 critical failures, all event ID 41: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
p.s. Dunno if this is important but the machine is a Sony Vaio but I have uninstalled all sony bloat ware (except Vaio Control Center)
I have a Windows 7 installation that I seem to be in an 'endless loop' on. First off, if I just let the system reboot, it comes to the windows 7 splash screen and then reboots again. This will happen endlessly if I let it.If I hit F8 during boot up, I do get the Windows 7 menu. I have tried using the 'repair' options, but they don't succeed in solving the problem. I have tried going into Safe Mode and that also reboots after getting to the 'CLASSPNP.sys' driver (at least that's what it displays on the screen).
So I thought I would just 're-install' Win 7. I boot from my Win 7 DVD, and my options are 'upgrade' or 'clean install'. If I do 'upgrade', the DVD tells me that I need to start Windows first and then run Upgrade. Of course, I CANNOT do that since Windows 7 won't start! I'm afraid to do CLEAN INSTALL as I don't want to lose all the files

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell XPS1702x laptop Windows 7 64, this problem came up in the last 5 days after I installed a logitech M705 mouse and software.When ever I put my laptop in sleep or hibernate and start up again I get a blank screen, but the laptop seems tobe running I have to turn the computer off and then on again using the power button. My computer then restarts and opens in the Error Recovert Screen stating that the computer was turned off improperly and ask if I want to restart Windows. I have preformed a complete Virus scan with Nortons 360, I have updating all my software, uninstalled the mouse and returned to my old mouse and the software for the new mouse and the problem is still there.
