View 4 Repliesmy ethernet will disconnect randomly while i'm doing anything on it. when the first time it disconnect, i need to press the "scan for hardware changes" to fix it, disabling and enabling the network adapter results in a code 10(device cannot start). then, windows install a new adapter named "realtek pcie gbe family controller #2". after this if it disconnect again, it can be fixed by disabling and enabling it.also, when playing a flash game, the adapter disconnect very often, about every few minutes compared to a few hours if not. when watching a video on Internet, the same thing happens but clicking another video on the sidebar cause it to disconnect immediately.when starting any online games, it also cause the ethernet to disconnect. but this time, the light on my router goes off as soon as the game loads for ~5 seconds before coming back on (note that when not playing a game and it disconnect, the router light never goes off), but i still can't use the internet (windows shows a red x on the network logo).sometimes i would have to reset the ethernet adapter 3~4 times before it works again.
using asus p7p55d-e pro, and it searching on google it seems that quite a number of people using an asus mobo gets random ethernet disconnect.i've tried reinstalling the drivers, used a different router, changed settings in the adapter (switched the settings one by one).this started happening about 1 week ago, and it seems to be getting worse, the frequency of the disconnect is getting higher.it seems that when it disconnect while i'm loading a page, it will keep loading for minutes until i disable the adapter, which it then displays an error.
Why is it that so many Western Digital products suck at what they do? Every time I tried using a storage device by WD it's been acting up. One time a drive wasn't even being detected by a computer (or other computers I've tried it on) and now this new 1 TB external drive is not wanting to disconnect safely from my laptop. I did a ton of searching online and apparently, despite it not actually saving anything it's still running processes as if the person who made it assumed you don't ever want to disconnect it from your computer (which is stupid for the fact one shuts off his computer eventually at one poine) and instead want to constantly back up weekly. I made one backup and that's all I want to do at the moment. I also want to shut off my computer, but if I do that while I still get the error message "can't disconnect external drive since it's still in use", wouldn't shutting the computer down then be equivalent to unplugging the drive before it's "safe" to remove? I literally waited a full day to get my 350 GB info on this drive, and I don't want it to get corrupted through unplugging or even shutting down the computer when the drive is "still in use".By the way, it says it's "in use" but I am NOT seeing it download or backup anything (because I already finished this hours ago). Could it be that it's saving something that I'm not aware of? Or is it simply "connected" to my computer and that is one of WD's definitions of "currently in use"? If the latter is true, I guess logging off/shutting down won't do anything then, but I'd still like to be sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedVery randomly the mouse and some times the keyboard freezes and won't come back. I checked device manager and nothing is yellow or red. i tried updating the usb, keyboad, and mouse drivers but none are available. All are plugged into a dlink usb hub.
I tried 2 mice and keyboard combinations:
1- hp mouse and keyboard wired
2- useb mouse/keyboard wireless
I have been having a rather annoying issue for a while now. This mostly happens on start up and once desktop loads up either my USB mouse freezes or my keyboard doesn't work or sometimes BOTH. My keyboard is a PS/2 Keyboard. It seems the only solution when both freeze at the same time is to either restart the computer or unplug them and plug them back in. This morning when I booted it up my mouse immediately was frozen and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it is working. This error is very random and sometimes doesn't happen immediately on start up but while browsing the Internet a decent amount of time after start up. Another important thing I forgot to mention is I get NO blue screen or no error message it just stops working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery so often I get this problem where my keyboard/mouse functions change.
-With the keyboard it's usually a SHIFT lock (not CAPS lock), that is every button that I hit expresses a character or function like as if I was holding down SHIFT.
-With the mouse there are several problems. Left clicking "sticks", so any field where you can select text or draw a selection box will have that happen when I move the mouse around after clicking somewhere in the field. Left clicking any link or bookmark causes it to open in a new page to be loaded. The scroll wheel function changes to forward and back, rather than scrolling up and down. The right mouse button does it's own tricks, but I can't remember it exactly.
This has happened with two different sets of keyboards/mice operating with different drivers. The only solution is to restart, unplugging doesn't solve the trick. I cannot recall exactly what I may have installed around the time the problem showed up unfortunately.
Recently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
As of lately my mouse and keyboard sometimes just stop working. It seems to happen more often while I'm playing games (but that's mostly what I do so not sure if that has anything to do with it ). Usually before it happens I'll hear the usb sound and the mouse will disconnect and reconnect and it'll work fine then just out of the blue it'll disconnect and that's that. I have to shutdown and restart. It only just started doing this a couple weeks ago. My mouse is a logitech UAE-96 (I think) and the keyboard is a microsoft ergonomic 4000, its an ASUS MoBo, I've checked keyboard drivers and they are up to date and I've also checked my usb drivers, also up to date.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince I'm running Windows 7 I thought I'd try to solve this on this forum, although the problem has plagued me all through vista as well but perhaps not nearly as much as it does now in 7.I have a Microsoft 4000 usb (wired) ergonomic "Natural" keyboard. I'll be on a forum typing up something (or in notepad, or anyplace I could possibly type) and all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding to any key strokes. The only way to get it back to life is to logout and log back in, then the keyboard is working fine (unplugging it from the usb port works as well, although logging out and in is easier for me). When this happens, everything else on the computer is working perfectly fine, the mouse, display etc. It's just the keyboard that basically becomes totally inop. It doesn't matter what key I press they don't respond.
It's not a matter of an older keyboard that the wires might have broken or anything like that as this is a brand new keyboard. I've been using these MS 4000 keyboards for a few years now and have to replace them every year or less due to them wearing out from my fast and excessive typing but it doesn't matter, new or old, at some point, sometimes multiple times per day the keyboard stops responding on me.Any clues as to what might be causing this and more importantly how to prevent it from happening any further?
My Windows 7 x64 when boots sometimes does not recognizes my USB keyboard. By unpluging the kb and plugin it back it starts working . Some other times the system just drops the kb -sound is given- unplug plug the kb and it works again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a new machine recently and it all works fine, except the operating system seems to randomly freeze. When it does the only way I have found to get out of it is to manually plug it out and restartOn freeze the keyboard and mouse become entirely unresponsive, the cursor does not move, nor do either click buttons do anything, if I'm typing somewhere the text does not appear, and Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't bring up the usual screenI'm running windows 7 home premium on a 64 bit machine. I haven't found anything quite like this problem around so I thought it deserved a new topic by itselfI can't think of what to do to determine the cause or any potential solution. Everything's up to date. I think all the drivers are too. I put in different virus software 'cause I thought that might be itdit: The last time it happened I tried putting the keyboard and mouse into different USB ports, but that didn't work.Edit2: I just went to my device manager and manually checked for updates for all the drivers, and it turned out my graphics card needed an update (I updated it myself about three weeks ago so I discarded this as a potential problem). So I installed the update.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi am currently unable to work on assignments on my own computer or enjoy games because it freezes completely sporadically requiring a hard boot. essentially the computer freezes on me and the keyboard becomes disabled and unresponsive. the mouse cursor on the screen slows down, like the sensitivity was turned down 95%, and moves sluggishly, and then i know the freeze is coming. the computer desktop freezes completely, the keyboard becomes disabled and sometimes the screen turns a faint transparent white depending on what application i am running. the cursor then turns into an animated hour glass that i can move around the screen totally normally, with no lag, but everything is unresponsive. i then need to do a hard boot and end up frusturated, tempted to through my computer at the wall.i've scanned the computer with at least 10 different reputable antivirus programs and i have repaired all the registry errors. i've uninstalled programs i no longer need and searched all over solutions, to no avail. [code] i looked at event viewer to try to see a log of the issue but the only error it reported was id 41, from the hard boot. when i'm on Internet and it locks up permanently, the Internet video continues to play.also the freezing is totally random and sometimes i can go for 5h without it happening, other times it freezes up within 10 minutes. usually it freezes up between 10-30 mins of system starting up.

I cannot backspace quick enough at times to keep it from appearing. Also...I keep hearing the annoying "default beep" (windows ding). What are the chances that both keyboards I've used are faulty?? Probably not. If I have a virus or malware...any and all removal tools are just not picking up on it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is an Alienware M11x R1 (yes yes, gripe all you want, I like them!) running Windows 7 Premium 64 bit. Okay so since the day I got my M11x it has been freezing randomly. No one could find the source of this problem, though I seem to have located it recently...
Whenever I have an external HDD plugged in my system will completely lock up randomly. Can't move the mouse or do anything, the last sound that was playing hangs (Ie. if a song was playing the song would go kind of "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-" continuously), and I have to shut it off by holding the power button. It can go for a week without locking up or it can lock up two times in a single day. It also does this with some random programs that it just doesn't seem to like very much.
I just went out and bought a new HDD to see if it was a compatibility problem (the old external I was using was fairly old) and it just froze up again while using the new one...
I have a 1TB external storage drive that uses its own power supply and connects to my laptop via USB 2.0 cable. For months I've had absolutely no problem out of the device, until the computer randomly decided to forget the device was plugged in. Now I'm lucky to get the device to be recognized by the computer at all, and when it is recognized, if I try to move anything to/from the device, the connection is immediately severed from the computer.I use this device for my backup as well as holding on to things I would rather not get rid of. All my drivers are up to date, I've done all the Power Management checking and unchecking that I've read from other threads found via Google search, and still it won't work correctly for me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I press "Connect or Disconnect", it pops up an infobox saying "You are currently connected to: xnetwork"
However, there is no option to disconnect from the network. This is extremely frustrating; apparently I'm blind, but I've tried disabling and re-enabling the adapter to no avail.
Windows 7 x32, btw. (desktop, in my profile)
Since doing a clean install of Windows 7 my internet keeps timing out. The icon in the task bar shows that it's normal, but I'll be online and after a couple minutes the internet just stops. When I click on the icon it says "connected" and "internet access."I have tried on both a Netgear and Apple router, so it's not a router issue. I reset the modem and routers a dozen times. I called my ISP and they said everything looks normal. My Droid phone works fine and so does a Macbook in the house.I have rolled back my Atheros5007 wireless card driver, which did nothing. And then tried upgrading the latest version, which did nothing. Uninstalled the driver then reinstalled, still with no luck.I was running Windows 7 fine all year and did the clean install as something I do every year to keep my computer running well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedInternet disconnects after using for sometime on my computer . The network icon on the task bar shows no Internet access. When I disabled the network adapter, but when I tried to enable it, windows just shows me the enabling window but nothing happens. So I had to restart the system but it also got stuck at he shutting down screen. So when I booted the system after a force shutdown, the network adapter was enabled but the same problem happened after some time. My modem auto connects to the Internet service so I do not dial for connecting to the Internet. I use the same modem to browse Internet from my iPad and the Internet works on the device.Recently installed a driver for a USB data card.

View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows 7 Ultimate. I wanted to connect my laptop to an external monitor so I pressed "Windows key + X", then clicked "connect display", then "extend."
On most computers, doing this will allow you to output the display to another monitor.
When I did it on my laptop, the screen started flickering and became garbled. It's too garbled to see, and I can't find the mouse and undo what I've done. I tried restarting but it's still like this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to transfer between my Desktop computer (XP) and laptop (Windows 7). When I do it wifi it only transfers at speeds between 1MBs to 3MBs. When I physically connect to my router I get better speeds at 10-11Mbs. However in both cases on large files it loses connection. It says that connection lost/failed and gives me option of retry/skip. When I hit retry it still doesn't work. When I disconnect and retry that method it starts up again from scratch however rarely does it fully transfer a file. These files are anywhere from 2GIGs to 4GIGS.I don't have anti-security on either computer. I'm using new Netgear router.
