Very randomly the mouse and some times the keyboard freezes and won't come back. I checked device manager and nothing is yellow or red. i tried updating the usb, keyboad, and mouse drivers but none are available. All are plugged into a dlink usb hub.
I tried 2 mice and keyboard combinations:
1- hp mouse and keyboard wired
2- useb mouse/keyboard wireless
I'm seeming randomly having a problem on my self-built desktop PC where my keyboard and mouse will freeze up, leaving the computer virtually inoperable. I also get strange hangs in the mouse that last a second or so, leading up to one big hang. There's no BSOD or anything like that.I have to hard reboot in order to do anything. All programs and services continue to run and there's no real warning. Games will continue to play like normal as will videos and music, I just can't alt/tab or Cntrl/Alt/Delete. There's no indication that the devices disconnected physically or otherwise. The LEDs on the keyboard stay lit, so it's not as if it loses power.I have tried unplugging and replugging, updating USB drivers, installing and subsequently uninstalling Logitech software, and physically cleaning the fan (Just to ensure heat wasn't a factor). I've ran virus checks from Avast and Malware Bytes that have come back clean. I've looked into the event viewer, but I'm not very proficient with it and I can't seem to find anything on it.

I have been having a rather annoying issue for a while now. This mostly happens on start up and once desktop loads up either my USB mouse freezes or my keyboard doesn't work or sometimes BOTH. My keyboard is a PS/2 Keyboard. It seems the only solution when both freeze at the same time is to either restart the computer or unplug them and plug them back in. This morning when I booted it up my mouse immediately was frozen and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it is working. This error is very random and sometimes doesn't happen immediately on start up but while browsing the Internet a decent amount of time after start up. Another important thing I forgot to mention is I get NO blue screen or no error message it just stops working.

-With the keyboard it's usually a SHIFT lock (not CAPS lock), that is every button that I hit expresses a character or function like as if I was holding down SHIFT.
-With the mouse there are several problems. Left clicking "sticks", so any field where you can select text or draw a selection box will have that happen when I move the mouse around after clicking somewhere in the field. Left clicking any link or bookmark causes it to open in a new page to be loaded. The scroll wheel function changes to forward and back, rather than scrolling up and down. The right mouse button does it's own tricks, but I can't remember it exactly.
This has happened with two different sets of keyboards/mice operating with different drivers. The only solution is to restart, unplugging doesn't solve the trick. I cannot recall exactly what I may have installed around the time the problem showed up unfortunately.
Recently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
As of lately my mouse and keyboard sometimes just stop working. It seems to happen more often while I'm playing games (but that's mostly what I do so not sure if that has anything to do with it ). Usually before it happens I'll hear the usb sound and the mouse will disconnect and reconnect and it'll work fine then just out of the blue it'll disconnect and that's that. I have to shutdown and restart. It only just started doing this a couple weeks ago. My mouse is a logitech UAE-96 (I think) and the keyboard is a microsoft ergonomic 4000, its an ASUS MoBo, I've checked keyboard drivers and they are up to date and I've also checked my usb drivers, also up to date.

View 4 Replies View Related[SOLVED]couple of curse words and a sfc /scannow seems to have fixed the problem :DMy HDD has some bad sectors on it (I already ordered a new HDD because I think this one is going to fail soon) sometimes when I boot up in my BIOS after the POST I will get a HDD not detected error if I cold boot it goes away and I am presented with my GRUB (I dual booted Win7 & Linux Mint). View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having random Windows 7 complete system hangs.They produce no errors or warnings in the log other than a notice of an incomplete shutdown. I'm using the intel chipset driver for Vista with the system, and the Realtek HD audio driver for vista with it (this was happening before that driver being installed) and everything else is the default windows 7 driver, it's guaranteed to happen on Skype starting up with a lot of unread events, and copying a file to the desktop with Filezilla, but sometimes it's just random. Complete freeze, no mouse, no keyboard, no ctrl+alt+del Here's my computer specs:

I've had my new computer since February and haven't had any major problems with it whatsoever.However, theres one little annoying thing; randomly, the computer will hang/freeze.I first noticed this when iTunes stopped playing music - it had frozen and I noticed the LED light on the desktop was completely lit and wasn't flashing at all, as if it was doing something really big.When it happens, normally I try and open Task Manager to see which program is using up the most Memory but Task Manager only opens when the computer has unfrozen and music has started playing again.I can continue browsing on whatever Internet page I am on also, so the whole computer hasn't frozen but sometimes when I try and see if I can open other programs via the Taskbar, the timer appears next to the mouse.These hangs happen completely randomly; its only ever done it once during a day but sometimes it can go quite a few days before it does it again and the hangs only last for a few seconds, once or twice though it has lasted for a few minutes.
The common thing is normally it happens when i'm playing music via iTunes and I only notice its frozen because music has stopped playing and iTunes becomes unresponsive, so i'm thinking it could be iTunes causing the lag as it can freeze quite a bit normally anyway (I have made sure though i got the 64-bit version).I think once it happened when I wasn't playing any music, but iTunes was still open.Its not a virus/malware/etc... and I've checked the Event Viewer directly after a freeze to see if any error was reported

At various, seemingly random points throughout using the computer, Windows 7 simply freezes or locks up. No BSOD or error code is given, it simply becomes completely unresponsive. That program hangs up while Windows 7 continued to work. I'd love for it to be fully operational. It is not used for any gaming - online or otherwise. I use it for internet and school work (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc)

When I play Games or doing normal browsing, my computer will hang and everything will freeze for about a minute or two. It's more when I play Video games than when I surf the internet. It then returns to normal and I can do whatever for the next 10-15 minutes, and then it does it again. I tryed to get past it but it starts to do it more frequently.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi recently purchased a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 64bit installed, which worked pretty well until i ran into a random crash a few days ago. i'm not sure why it happened, but at the time, i was running a Internet video and then i got a post on google talk. at that point, the computer froze on the sound and i wasn't able to use the mouse anymore. it acted like a stop error, even though no blue screen popped up or anything. it seems like it freezes like this when i leave the computer on for a long period of time or something. it's happened around three times, once with the google talk sound, and twice with the skype sound, and all three times Internet was opened.
anyway, ever since that initial crash, i've had a hard time starting up the computer. the first time, i attempted to run the task manager and click the "show processes from all users" button, however after clicking the button, the computer seems to hang at loading consent.exe, and the cpu was around 4% or so. i was also trying to load google chrome, but it wouldn't load either. after waiting about 5 minutes, i pressed ctrl-alt-delete, which then i got an error that the window couldn't load.the second time i tried running the task manager, i noticed that the networking and sharing center wouldn't work at all. i could run programs (that weren't internet browsers), as well as the control panel... but i couldn't open the networking and sharing window from either the control panel or the icon on the taskbar. consent.exe was hanging in this instance as well.
after those two times, i was able to get the computer working again and didn't have too many problems as long as the computer was on. ran into the problem again after successfully shutting down windows one night, then trying to turn it back on the next day. however, this was even more odd because explorer.exe crashed on its own, but i hadn't done anything since i turned the computer on. i also couldn't get the task manager open for some reason.today, after leaving the computer off since last night, i tried turning on the computer again, and once again the computer hanged on trying to load google chrome and the task manager. this time, the task manager wouldn't load, but the icon would appear in the taskbar (frozen. can't right click it or anything.) and skype was working. i made a comment on google talk, but that froze after i got a response.i was able to hit the shut down button in that instance, but after waiting 8 minutes, the windows logoff screen wouldn't show up, so i just shut it down and turned it on again.
when browsing, the browsers (chrome and ie9) freeses frequently a few secs. it doesn't repond on keyboard or touchpad actions: typing google autofill starts to auto fill, gives no extra characters when i type for a few sec and then gives the letters that a had typed (not all)the same with the backspace key. while typing this there's frequently a lag between typing and appearance of characters.pointer hoovering always works but sometimes (frequently it takes a few seconds to change from pointer to "link-hand" in another browser tab a Internet film is running without interruptions.often when i try to scroll with to fingers touchpad, the scrolling pointer appears but scrolling happens after a few seconds.

core temp is normal; memtest and hdd test are normal.in task manager performance monitor 2 of 4 ram is used, the overall cpu use is 7% but every approx 10secs the monitor stops for a few seconds, then the cpu use goes to 100% for half a second and the monitor runs again.in safe mode everything seems ok?

I have an HP EliteBook 8440p. I installed Windows 7 Professional in it. I got it second hand and i dont have much past history about it. But since the installation it is hanging, stucking and giving BSOD randomly.. sometime opening Chrome, sometime listening to song, sometime playing Windows games. Sometime while moving it or just changing it a little like while I am sitting on couch and moves forward a little.. I opened it and tightened hard disk screws and memory...

I've got a new copy of windows 7 (32 bit version) I have got 4 GB ram only 3,25 in use (like I had on the XP version, running on the same PC) and after I boot up the PC I just look at the desktop, play with some random games, create and delete folders, do some little stress to the RAM or sometimes just doing nothing. The only boot that works is safe mode and its variants.
Things that I've done in the past 7 days:
-I checked RAM integrity - no errors
-Everything is up to date (drivers, everything) - it hanged/froze even with a fresh copy of Windows 7
-I use wireless if that is a problem, found some errors about it and will post them after this list
-enabled services and disabled them VIA msconfig (toying around I found out that it WONT CRASH with any internet service on normal mode)
-I checked Windows 7 compatibility and it's 100% compatible
-Tried to update BIOS but I don't think it will solve anything anyways
-Used dozens of registry cleaners (CCleaner and lots; lots more) - still nothing
-Put a second HDD on my machine with Windows 7 same version, it still crashed, but on the second machine the second HDD works great.

Just recently my mouse keeps randomly going off and I have tried it in the 4 front usb 2 ports in my computer and it works but still randomly goes off for a millisecond and in the back usb ports it doesnt work at all when its working it sometimes affects my headset when the mouse goes off and the sound will be really weird and eventually revert back to normal.
I noticed when I went on control panel -> devices and printers my pc had an error symbol on it so I tried to troubleshoot it by using the option when right clicking and it says needs to install 'usb controller driver' and I let it try and find it but it said it failed because it couldn't find it and I can't find it anywhere if anyone can link me to it I would be so happy to get my mouse sorted out.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Lenovo ideapad y580 with windows 7 home basic along with a Steelseries Sensei RAW, and for the first month it ran smoothly without any problems. But after taking my laptop to travel, when i got back and plugged in my mouse, my mouse will work for a few minutes, then suddenly lose power. After a few seconds, it will power up again. Due to this, i have googled for 2 or 3 days, trying to search for a fix. Initially i thought it has something to do with the power management, and i disabled the option where they disable the usb device to save power on all the power plans, but to no avail. I've also tried uninstalling the driver and re installing it, as well as test my mouse out on another computer, and the mouse has no problem on another computer. When the mouse loses power, the other usb devices plugged into my laptop is unaffected, and only my mouse loses power. This happens on both my 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as USB 2.0 port. I should mention that my laptop has trouble configuring windows updates recently, after installing, on startup, it says 'failure to configure windows update"
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I'm running Windows 7 I thought I'd try to solve this on this forum, although the problem has plagued me all through vista as well but perhaps not nearly as much as it does now in 7.I have a Microsoft 4000 usb (wired) ergonomic "Natural" keyboard. I'll be on a forum typing up something (or in notepad, or anyplace I could possibly type) and all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding to any key strokes. The only way to get it back to life is to logout and log back in, then the keyboard is working fine (unplugging it from the usb port works as well, although logging out and in is easier for me).When this happens, everything else on the computer is working perfectly fine, the mouse, display etc. It's just the keyboard that basically becomes totally inop. It doesn't matter what key I press they don't respond.
It's not a matter of an older keyboard that the wires might have broken or anything like that as this is a brand new keyboard. I've been using these MS 4000 keyboards for a few years now and have to replace them every year or less due to them wearing out from my fast and excessive typing but it doesn't matter, new or old, at some point, sometimes multiple times per day the keyboard stops responding on me.Any clues as to what might be causing this and more importantly how to prevent it from happening any further?
My Windows 7 x64 when boots sometimes does not recognizes my USB keyboard. By unpluging the kb and plugin it back it starts working . Some other times the system just drops the kb -sound is given- unplug plug the kb and it works again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Everything was fine and I liked it. Then it stopped registering the clicks from my mouse. I rebooted and it was back to normal. After a while it stopped again and I've been fighting with it ever since. It works about 1 out of every 15 reboots. I've tried rebooting with the dvd for windows repair, nothing. I removed wireless USB card and switched to ethernet connection, worked for a minute until next reboot. I've reinstalled windows (haven't formatted yet) to no avail.
I've tried and tried to contact windows for support, but can't find a phone number. When I try to go through the steps on their site, it says that my product ID isn't good for this country, yet I bought it at Best Buy here in Louisiana, and they want to charge me $50 to talk to me!! I'm fit to be tied!!
The one thing different that I did was, when I initially upgraded, I disconnected my backup drive since I didn't have anywhere else to back it up. I re-connected it once everything was reinstalled. For the life of me I can't seem to figure this out. If I have to format everything I will. I about to that point right now.
Sometimes for apparently no reason at all my mouse cursor will just freeze for a couple seconds and I won't be able to move it. When this happens (I have Process Explorer minimized to tray) I can see that just about no CPU is being taken up either. So I know that this freeze isn't because my processor is being overworked. Also, it's not because I'm opening a program or anything, hence it is seemingly very random. Is there any reason why the mouse should randomly freeze from time to time when nothing that major is happening on the system?

But it seems like my computer is hating my mouse, it will suddenly freeze with no reason, i have to plug it out and back in to get it back to work but for maybe for few seconds to few minutes, it might freeze again.When i removed all razer driver, my mouse goes back to normal, but why do i have to use without Razer Synapse while i'm having a razer mouse? wtf?
View 1 Replies View Relatedit now rapidly left clicks stuff and will not let me left click for a couple of seconds. it also randomly highlights. it's been doing this for about 2 weeks now. i've tried changing the usb ports for the mouse, also switched between 2.0 and 3.0. i've tried screwing around with the dpi, all kinda stuff, nothing works. it's a razor naga, also i can upload a video to Internet of what the mouse is doing. it's really annoying because i play starcraft and fpss professionally and not being able to left click sometimes really really fucks me up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been running Windows 7 64x Pro for quite awhile (never had an issue) and recently my mouse will randomly disconnect and reconnect. It happens in a split second, basically windows makes that USB disconnect/reconnect sound. A couple times both my mouse and keyboard froze although the PC itself was not frozen. Additionally, all the lights on the mouse and keyboard were still on when that happened. I notice it mostly happens during gaming (fallout new vegas, mass effect 2 for example) although it does happen when I'm just on my desktop web browsing. The keyboard has only froze 1 time, the rest have just been issues with the mouse.

As I'm typing this all my temps look fine (CPU: 34c, Mobo 28c). I read several posts that it could be something with Windows 7 saving power, but I've essentially turned off everything that would cause any sort of power shortage to my USB's or PCI buses so I'm out of ideas. I can't figure out whether its a Windows issue, Nvidia, my mouse is just dying (which I don't think it is considering the keyboard froze as well), my motherboard is bad (hope not since I just upgraded in july!)? OH also, I was having the issue, and did a complete reformat and it still occurs, although that doesn't rule out W7 if its a software bug.
