Multiple BSOD, Memory_Management, PFN List Corrupt, BAD_POOL_HEADER?

Feb 27, 2012

I got a windows 7 PC six months ago, and ever since have been getting random BSOD's mostly when web browsing or leaving my computer on while it is not in use. Their are no issues when playing games, strangely enough. So far I have replaced themotherboard, ran a disk check and got no errors, ran a SFC scan and got no errorsand ran the Memory Diagnostic Tool with no errors. I'm completely stumped as to what may be causing this. All of my drivers are up to date and I have service pack 1 installed. I am not overclocking[CODE]

BSOD During Windows 7 Installation - PFN List Corrupt

May 13, 2011

I've recently began building my first custom-built computer, I began with an old Compaq Presario that a friend gave me, and I've pretty much gutted it and replaced all its components. The components I've replaced have included the motherboard, processor, hard drive, RAM and PSU (I'll include the specifics of my set-up below). I've been trying to install Windows 7 but have been getting the blue screen (BSOD) before the installation could complete. The BSOD said "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" towards the top of the screen. I'm fairly sure that I've installed all the new hardware correctly. The following is the new hardware I've installed:

Processor - AMD Phenom II (3.2 GHz)
Motherboard - Ultra Durable 3 (GA-880GM-UD2H)
Hard Drive - Hitachi Deckstar 7K1000.C (1TB SATA)
RAM - Corsair 2 Gigs (2 sticks, 4 Gig total)
PSU - Logisys PS550ABK (550 Watts)

Win7 7100 Clean Install - BSOD BAD_POOL_HEADER

May 7, 2009

I have installed all betas I could find, all were/are running fine. But the RC is a lot of pain. It fails into BSOD at the last step of the install "Completing installation". The error reads BAD_POOL_HEADER. I tried 64bit only.

I verified the ISO checksums, I have read the recommendations here, tried Safe mode, disabled display, installed from disc or from inside Windows, from HDD, changed BIOS settings to safe defaults... No luck. I even tried to integrate newest video drivers from nvidia.com using vLite.

My PC is Q6600, Gigabyte P35ds3l, 6Gb ram, evga Nvidia 8800gts, old WD Raptor 74Gb, USB mouse and kbd, Dell lcd.

BSOD With Messages Memory_Management And Bugcode_Usb

Feb 9, 2012

A few weeks ago my computer began to crash with the Bug_Code_Usb BSOD. More recently it has been Memory_Management. It's an HP Pavilion dm4 running windows seven which it came with when I bought it new. I do not appear to be losing any files and the error occurs randomly about once or twice a day. If I did it right, the correct ZIP should be attached

BSOD Errors A1 (Memory_Management) And A (Irql_Not_Less_Or_Equal)?

Jun 19, 2012

I have had a very solid stable system since 2010, then I decided 6 GB of RAM and a 9800GT/GTX560Ti wasn't enough. I sold these parts away and replaced them with 24 GB of RAM and a GTX560Ti 448 edition. The instant I throw these new parts into my box I start getting the two different BSoD errors (the ones in the title). I have cleared everything of my previous overclocks with the upgraded components.System Specs: (bolded is what was introduced to the system which created the errors)Windows 7 Professional x647 930EVGA 132-BL-E758 (Motherboard)EVGA GTX560Ti 448 FTW EditionPatriot Extreme Performance (24 GB of RAM)If you need to know anything besides the core components that I have, let me know. Attached are the dump files.

The story so far:I have ran Memtest overnight on all the sticks of RAM and nothing comes up, it claims they're all good. I'm not sure how to test the graphics card, but what I can tell you is that I can login to Windows and within 5 minutes the BSoD shows itself. When in safe mode, (where I am right now), it runs more stable, but I have had it BSoD in here as well; It's just nowhere near as often. So, this makes me think its not hardware related and hopefully it's not because I have no other RAM sticks or graphics card to test with.My thoughts:I only used 3 of the 6 slots for RAM on the motherboard before this upgrade so initially I thought maybe I had a bad slot. I can't disprove that, but I still get the BSoD when using only 1 stick of RAM in a slot that was previously known as working. I uninstalled the graphics driver for my old GTX560Ti and downloaded the latest driver for my new graphics card and still get a BSoD.

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSoD After Installing AMD FX-8150 And Updating BIOS?

Sep 16, 2012

I recently bought a new AMD FX-8150 and installed it on my ASUS m5a97 mobo which has 24GB of ram. 2x4 and 2x8 of DDR3. Everything was moderately fine before I replaced my old CPU (AMD Phenom II x3) with the AMD fx-8150. After that, I couldn't play some of my games because apperently I needed to update my BIOS, which i recently did.  thats when things got weird. I keep getting blue screens, mainly memory management so I ran a standard and extended windows memory diagnostic test and came up with no errors. I have not done prime or 86+ yet. I, personally, think there are some instability issues here despite the fact the cpu is on the supported list for my asus mobo. Also some other weird things have happened. My google chrome crashed in such a way that it corrupted my profile and i had to reinstall it and it would not save the favicons in my bookmarks bar. my xfire kept crashing, too. when i try uploading a file to the internet and browse to DESKTOP via a windows explorer window, chrome crashes. I've ran a full malyware scan with no threats and cleaned by registry with CCleaner, i do not know what else to do. I don't think reformatting will help since i believe this to be a hardware error.

Pfn List Corrupt // Page Fault In Nonpaged Area?

Nov 11, 2011

Last week i brought to your attention i was having dxdiag and atikmpag errors. I have resolved that by purchasing and using a Nvdia gtx560ti and the tech support people i bought the previous 6950 from advised me that they have come across a lot of problems with the Asus version of the card. With the new Gtx560ti, i purchased another 4GB of the Kingston HyperX pnp Ram. Since, i was getting random BSODs relating to "page fault in non pages area". I resolved this by removing the ram stick in Slot 4 of my Motherboard. After a few successful attempts, i reconnected the "suspected" Ram stick in Slot 3 and put another stick in Slot 4Since, i have not had a problem with page fault in nonpages area BSODs.

However, i am now beginning to get PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. What i would like to know is if this is related to the "bad" ram stick or a driver problem. I use the Uniblue Driver Scanner which is unable to find any outdated drivers. Can you look at Note that i used the Windows 7 memory diagnostic test and a pfn list corrupt BSOD occurred at 99% completed. At 98% it still showed "no errors have been found".

Multiple Taskbar Page List?

Jan 20, 2012

Normally, I've got tons of pages grouped in a single icon, with a 1920x1080 monitor, and a two-row taskbar. Like thisI despised that 'scroll' feature, and I was wondering if there might be a way or two, to expand that list to, say 2 or 3 column? So, there would be no need for the scroll thingy, and viewing/finding a particular window would be much, much easier.

Multiple BSOD At Random Times With Multiple Drivers Identified?

Nov 13, 2011

I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

Remove Multiple Entries In Boot Device List On Hp Desktop Windows 7

Jan 9, 2013

When booting system sometimes I hit F9 to select boot device, when I want to boot from dvd or usb. Before you say I can list boot devices in bios I know this, the problem Is UEFI and Legacy my UEFI system is not secure boot and for whatever reason I have to F9 and manually select usb or dvd legacy, some versions of linux will not boot otherwise.

UEFI boot sources:

Windows boot manager
Linux Mint
Linux mint

[Code]....

Over the course of the last year I have dual booted several version of linux, but it seems that linux mint and ubuntu add entries to my UEFI boot sources list...how do I remove them, the list is getting to long, and currently only windows 7 is installed.

Hp Pavillion Slimline s5-1114 Bios version 7.16 Ps other than this annoying list the system boots fine right into windows.

Install BSOD, Corrupt Kernel / Registry

May 13, 2009

Brand new computer, nothing on the hard drives:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0Ghz LGA 775

ASUS P5Q SE/R LGA 775 Intel P45 MOBO

EVGA Geforce GTX 285 Video Card

4 Gigs (2x@GB) G Skill 1066 MHz RAM

Two hard drives and a CD-RW all SATA

Had problems from the start, the install from DVD froze, and after hard-reset I continued to reboot, a new error came up each time. First it was corrupt kernel, then missing registry files, then missing bootmgr, a BSOD, etc.

Somehow the install finally worked. I booted up and started loading drivers; loaded the GTX 285 Windows 7 specific driver, and all hell broke loose again: on restart, it froze, hard-reset right back into the earlier problems.

I cannot boot from my hard drive, or my DVD, both will continue to bring up the "please boot from repair CD" or EMS mode with a different error each time.

I just slow burned a hash-verified RC 7100 64 bit .iso, which I will try out. Failing that I'm going to use linux fdisk to clear my partitions and try to start from there. (I'm at work now, so I have 8 hours to ponder this.)

Any idea of what's going on? Any ideas?

BSOD Playing Dead Island, Driver Attempting To Corrupt Kernel Caught?

Jul 17, 2012

Is Windows 7 . . .

- x64
- Upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows Vista Home Premium
- OEM
- 2008 - the year the computer was built
- Can't remember exactly when I installed the OS

I basically get a BSOD about an hour or so into the game, or sometimes at random. I've never had this kind of problem before with games I've ran system checks on ESET Online Scanner, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and a few tracking cookies were removed but the problems still persist SFC /SCANNOW showed up an error which it couldn't repair so I've attached the CBS log aswell I've also uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite as I've read it can cause problems, but it hasn't made any difference Also i've already ran Memtest on both my 2GB sticks of RAM and they've come up clean, testing each stick for 4 passes with and without the other stick in each slot Also ran a CPU stress test from Intel and it came out fine?

BSOD Multiple Times Per Day?

Dec 1, 2011

My custom built machine is about 9 months old. For the last 3 months or so it has been crashing multiple times per day (usually 1-2 per day). It doesn't usually crash for atleast 3-4 hours after the reboot. I can't find any thing to make it crash on demand and don't notice myself doing the same time each time it crashes. It seems pretty random.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It is the full retail version and was the first OS installed on this hard drive.

I have attached the results of the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app and the system health alert.

Multiple Various BSOD's On New Build?

Got to be quick because I've already had a BSOD trying to post this. This is a new build. All new components. All kinds of error codes contantly. I've updated Bios, SSD firmware, all drivers I can find, did a clean reinstall of Windows 7, ran memtest86 twice (20 passes total) on both sticks no errors, ran chkdsk -no errors although I see one today from my bios resetting defaults to IDE instead of ACHI - my fault. Ran Driver Verifier and came up with a violation in Event Viewer but I don't know how to read it. And yes I wear ESD straps etc. when I work on it.Also no overclocking / unlocking - everything is stock / default.

BSOD - Multiple With Different STOP Errors?

Feb 4, 2012

I have been trying to resolve some BSOD I got on my PC. To do this I also re-installed windows several times. I build and install everything by myself for years, but this is the first PC with a lot of BSODs. I used the Debugging Tool for windows to check the minidumps by myself, but as far as my knowledge goes, I didn't find anything special in there. The only thing that was obvious was that in all BSODs the ntoskrnl.exe was involved. This was something BlueScreenView revealed also. In my opinion however it seems there is more to it, since the ntoskrnl.exe could probably also crash because of another driver or hardware problem. On my previous fresh Windows 7 Install I did found out once that alot of BSOD I had at that time were caused by a bad Creative driver for my X-Fi. On the web I found a useful hint, because other X-Fi users pointed to the beta-drivers for the card. The official Creative drivers are almost two years older then these beta drivers, so obviously the beta drivers should be the first choice. These drivers are the ones I use now. I also had some problem with my OCZ Vertex 3 MI, like most owners of this hardware, and the problem was the unstable firmware. I am using the latest firmware now, which is 2.15, and that made the system alot more stable. The third problem is happening in POST: my logitech G110 keyboard features an USB hub and connection for media. These kind of USB keyboards had some problem with recognision and initialisation in the UEFI BIOS. For that I also updated to the latest BIOS for my motherboard.

All in all you can see I discovered and tried to fix a lot of different causes for BSODs. I also ran memtest once on the system for two hours, but this was in Dual Channel setup. Didn't gave any errors anyway. The latest minidump is created by the use of Verifier. I turned verifier on to test the two drivers for my AMD HD6970(crossfired). After 5 minutes in windows the BSOD appeared. I am using AMD Catalyst 12.1 drivers. I tried this, because the BSODs all are different then the ones I had on previous Windows 7 installations (on the same pc), but the only thing I changed in the current installation, was the AMD 12.1 drivers.I reinstalled windows about two weeks ago, after using Secure Erase on my SSD. I installed only the latest drivers for all the things that need drivers. The complete installation, including windows updates and drivers, was without any fault. One day later the first BSOD appeared, etc. I use the system to play Battlefield 3 only, since the fresh install. Strangely, I played more then 50 hours in the game, without any crash or BSOD! The new AMD FX-8150 processor is the first to support native 1866 MHz DDR3. The motherboard specification showed that the board supported 1866 (OC), thus it's seen as an overclock. I set all settings in bios like the ram specificiation told, which is: 9-11-9-27 2T @1.65V. Still, it could be that the 1866 MHz is too much on standard NB voltages? It's something I couldn't find an answer to on the internet, and since I never overclock I don't have that much experience with the voltages.

All BSODs happened in different situations, like just after windows log in, or when I start a program, or when idling, or when browsing the internet.Since I couldn't figure out any more usefull details out of the minidumps, I hope someone here with more experience could check the attached files.

BSOD From Ntoskrnl.exe, Multiple Errors?

Mar 7, 2012

Computer is a few years old, a home build, running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Haven't really had too many problems other than the occasional BSOD or random restart, but it's gotten a lot worse lately so I wanna get to the bottom of it.The two errors I've gotten are Memory Management and System Service Exception, both seem to be linked to the ntoskrnl.exe file. I also ran the System File Checker and got the following error reported: "Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"kerberos.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-Security-Kerberos". Lastly I ran the windows memory diagnostic and it detected several hardware errors.

1)A system restore to a couple weeks ago
2)Repair the system/OS with my Windows 7 disc
3)Replace the RAM

Wanted to post here before I try any of those though. Whew ok sorry to be long winded but wanted to provide as much info as possible.
