BSOD Memory Management, Bad Pool Header. Then Random Freezing Up?
Apr 16, 2012Acer Aspire 4740G. 2 years old. Last 1-2 weeks constant BSOD as per title, and random freezing up, forcing restart. On restart, random issues pop-up e.g. "Windows explorer is not working", "Login services not working (causes me to be logged into a new profile, all settings, icons, wallpaper gone)". The system has run the Memory Diagnostics test. Extracting from the Event Viewer, the results are as follows:

Paged Pool Memory Issues
May 28, 2009When playing games via steam I occasionally get a crash followed by the error message.
failed to lock vertex buffer in cmesh dx8
According to the FAQ on steam this is caused by a lack of paged pool memory which is reserved for apps like direct3d.
To get round this issue its recommended that you remove a line form the boot.ini which unlocks the page pool memory. The line is /3GB /Userva=2900
Does anyone know where this line is in windows 7 or how I can unlock the paged pool memory as I'm finding the crashes are starting to interfere with my enjoyment of gaming.

Jan 21, 2013I have a Gigabyte P43 MB. I cannot successfully install Windows 7 or WinXP.It has been giving me different BSODs and getting to different parts of the install before it BSODs. returned it to Gigabyte and they say they could find no problem.Now I get the same thing except it only gets to load files and never gets into startup.I get 0A, 24, 19, C2 BSODs..I have the MB sitting on my bench now, but when I first fully installed it into a case it did the same thing.I have tried this with 2 CPUs, 2 Graphic cards, 2 PSUs, 2 HDDs, and memory right out of my P35 MB. All of the components run fine on the P35 MB.I can boot to Hiren's disc, I can run memory test, I can find no problems - but I can't Install OS.

Nov 8, 2009I have just built a new computer with the following specs:
When gaming on the computer it will crash and a BSOD will come up saying Bad Pool Caller. Or just a blue screen of death saying there is a problem with your video card. I have reinstalled the drivers for this card and used older drivers however the problem still continues. I have now put my Gigabyte GTX260 in this sytem above and all seems well at the moment plays games and passes tests with 3DMark 06.
Does this sound like a driver or a faulty video card problem??
Also one other thing I have noticed about the disk drive is the tray that opens seems to open a bit then open fully has anyone else experienced this problem before?

May 7, 2012i started having this issue awhile ago, but never had much time to try to troubleshoot it, in fact, it went away for a little while...i will play a game (starcraft 2) for maybe 40 minutes or so when the screen will screw up, make a buzzing noise, go the bsod and try to restart the computer. sometimes it will restart without trouble.there's also times where i will exit the game and go to Internet and it will crash then as well. at the blue screen, i have seen these two error messages the most:bad pool caller irql not less or equalreading through others' posts on various sites, i have done the following:updated various drivers, including my videoupdated biosinstalled the new version of nortonran memtest (no errors)it also seemed to me that the machine was running loud, so i opened it up and blew out the dust. after this, the problem stopped for about a month. now its back.i'm going to run memtest a few more times, swapping out the ram, because it sounds like it doesn't always catch stuff the first time.

Bad Pool Header BSOD - Cannot Boot Into Safe Or Normal Mode
Jul 2, 2012So I just got back from a 3 day vacation, and when I came back I rebooted my computer only to come back to the "Start Windows Normally/ launch startup repair" naturally I chose startup repair, it froze. Tried starting normally, took me back to the same page. So I tried booting in safe mode, took me to the BSOD that read Bad_pool_header. So then I tried to putting in my windows 7 installation disc to see if I could do a system recover from there, but as soon as I try boot up with the disc it takes me back to the same BSOD. I feel completely stuck as I've tried everything I can think of.

May 13, 2011I've recently began building my first custom-built computer, I began with an old Compaq Presario that a friend gave me, and I've pretty much gutted it and replaced all its components. The components I've replaced have included the motherboard, processor, hard drive, RAM and PSU (I'll include the specifics of my set-up below). I've been trying to install Windows 7 but have been getting the blue screen (BSOD) before the installation could complete. The BSOD said "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" towards the top of the screen. I'm fairly sure that I've installed all the new hardware correctly. The following is the new hardware I've installed:
Processor - AMD Phenom II (3.2 GHz)
Motherboard - Ultra Durable 3 (GA-880GM-UD2H)
Hard Drive - Hitachi Deckstar 7K1000.C (1TB SATA)
RAM - Corsair 2 Gigs (2 sticks, 4 Gig total)
PSU - Logisys PS550ABK (550 Watts)

EVGA Geforce GTX 285 Video Card
4 Gigs (2x@GB) G Skill 1066 MHz RAM
Two hard drives and a CD-RW all SATA
Had problems from the start, the install from DVD froze, and after hard-reset I continued to reboot, a new error came up each time. First it was corrupt kernel, then missing registry files, then missing bootmgr, a BSOD, etc.
Somehow the install finally worked. I booted up and started loading drivers; loaded the GTX 285 Windows 7 specific driver, and all hell broke loose again: on restart, it froze, hard-reset right back into the earlier problems.
I cannot boot from my hard drive, or my DVD, both will continue to bring up the "please boot from repair CD" or EMS mode with a different error each time.
I just slow burned a hash-verified RC 7100 64 bit .iso, which I will try out. Failing that I'm going to use linux fdisk to clear my partitions and try to start from there. (I'm at work now, so I have 8 hours to ponder this.)
Any idea of what's going on? Any ideas?

Driver is not newly developed, but has had some recent changes.My client has a puzzling BSOD on one x64 machine after about 18 hours of successful operation. My x64 Win 7 machine runs fine forever. Client's box crashes in seemingly random places that indicate mem corruption.Mem test on machine was clean. Minidump is attached. WinDbg stack doesn't trace back to my code - it just shows the calls to handle the exception. Their are no issues when playing games, strangely enough. I basically get a BSOD about an hour or so into the game, or sometimes at random. I've never had this kind of problem before with games I've ran system checks on ESET Online Scanner, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and a few tracking cookies were removed but the problems still persist SFC /SCANNOW showed up an error which it couldn't repair so I've attached the CBS log aswell I've also uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite as I've read it can cause problems, but it hasn't made any difference Also i've already ran Memtest on both my 2GB sticks of RAM and they've come up clean, testing each stick for 4 passes with and without the other stick in each slot Also ran a CPU stress test from Intel and it came out fine?
Lots Of BSOD / Lock Ups Or Hard Drive Not Being Detected By BIOS
Apr 13, 2012Lots of BSOD, lock ups, hard drive not being detected by bios, is it failing? Let me start by saying my PC is custom built, most parts are only a year old. The oldest parts are the harddrive (about 5 years) and the soundcard (about 7 years). I have never had major problems until now (a year after building it).
It all started with a blue screen.
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
Reboot windows and it seems to start up fine, gets to the desktop and locks up.
Reboot windows and I get another blue screen.
BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
I try to start windows from the last good configuration. Error. Registry file failure. Cannot load hive file. I try booting from the windows cd and running a chkdsk. Hard drive starts making a buzzing sound. It gets to step 3 of 5 and stops. Failed to transfer logged messages. Status 50. Now the bios rarely even "sees" the drive. When I can get it to boot and see it, any attempt at diagnostics and repairs produces errors, locks up, or fails.
Is this a bad hard drive? I would hate to spend the money on a new one only to find it is a bad mobo or virus. How can I diagnose this? If it is a bad drive I would like to save what juice is left in it and try to recover a few files before it dies. Most of the important data has been backed up but I would like to try and get a few game save files if I can. But its not a disaster if the drive data is not recoverable.

Jan 22, 2011After previously solving the BSOD error "a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" by replacing the CPU, I have run into another BSOD. This time the error is "memory management". After doing some research I'm thinking this error is about some program conflicts or something similar (I'm hoping that is the case!), instead of a hardware problem. Aug 4, 2012I decided to upgrade my computer and installed a new mb and processor. However with the new build the computer refuses to start up properly with more than 2Gb of memory installed. The machine runs fine with 1*2Gb of memory but as soon as I install a second stick I get a BSOD during windows startup.
Same thing happens if I install my graphics card. Memory sticks has been tested with memcheck86+ and individually they all work fine, in all slots. I can also run memcheck with 4Gb of memory installed without problems. BIOS is current as well as all drivers I can think of.

Mar 14, 2012I started to get random BSODs, usually after a few hours after turning on my PC. The only major change I made was a firmware upgrade to my Asus P8Z68-V Pro MB to the latest iteration: 3203 released Feb 21/12. Recently my website got hacked via ftp password breach but I ran a full system AV & Malware scan and results were clean.
Windows 7 64-bit (student upgrade version), approx 8 months old.

Mar 21, 2012[code] I bought this computer at Microcenter, they manufacture them and sell them under the brand PowerSpec. Mine is the B633 Since I bought it, it had had multiple errors, as shown in the attached .zip. I want to know what I need to do to fix these errors.I have ran memtest and let it do 10 passes with 0 errors. I am running driver verifier right now and have had 2 BSOD that I have never seen before, one was Special Pool...? Most of the time it is Memory Management BSOD, however.

New Build, BSOD When Installing More Than 2Gb Of Memory
Aug 23, 2012It is a new build and it runs fine with 2Gb of memory installed, but as soon as i insert a second memory stick it goes through BIOS and 2-5 seconds of the Windows Logo before a bluescreen flashes by and the screen goes black. It will reboot and perform a Windows repair but with the same result. Same thing happens if I install my graphics card.

NTune Gives BSOD And Memory Dump
May 31, 2009I just intalled nTune 5.05.54.00 and when I accept the agreement to use the performance tab in the control panel I get a BSOD every time. Is there a work around or another version that works with the RC?
