New Build, BSOD When Installing More Than 2Gb Of Memory
Aug 23, 2012
It is a new build and it runs fine with 2Gb of memory installed, but as soon as i insert a second memory stick it goes through BIOS and 2-5 seconds of the Windows Logo before a bluescreen flashes by and the screen goes black. It will reboot and perform a Windows repair but with the same result. Same thing happens if I install my graphics card.
since running on 2Gb of memory and on-board graphics isn't my plan

anyone no why this build is using so much memory?
i have 4gb and it seems to be using 97% of it with
nothing else installed but the os and drivers.
i tried installing avast! Antivirus but after the

In both build 7048 and 7068 I have massive memory leakage going on in the gadget sidebar, and can't solve the problem aside from restarting the process to clear the memory.
Is MS aware of this? And is there a fix in newer builds? Otherwise, any useful advice?

I finished building a new computer today and everything was working fine, but when I select the custom/new installation of Windows 7, it brings me to a screen that claims Disk 0 Partition 1 is 2048 GB and OEM reserved. I've never done this before, so it's entirely possible that I'm missing something obvious, but given that the hard drive is only 1.5 TB it seems like something has to be wrong here. Is there a way for me to either safely delete that entire partition or to partition it into something I could actually install to?

I just finished building my first computer and I plan on using my HDTV as a monitor. The problem is that windows 7 is having trouble installing.
Whenever it boots is goes through the loading page and the "starting windows" page but when it gets to the choosing language, country, etc.screen it freezes and my keyboard and mouse are none responsive.I can enter the BIOS just fine and my keyboard and mouse work there.I think the problem might be related to resolution as I am using my HDTV. But I don't know why it would wait until that spot to stop working. Plus, I don't have a monitor to connect it to to fix the resolution. [code]

I'm not sure where online to go (what forum) to ask this question, so I will just start here.I build and sell PC's to small businesses. Well configured systems. No junk. I use as much free software as possible. Liscenses permitting. Quality software.I want to make a master system(s), just one master if possible. Windows 7 with all the apps, ready to go. I want to migrate this master(s) to other PC's.Supplying new license keys when needed.Worst case scneario, dis-similar hardware.

I have recently purchased a custom built PC from a company and I have included in it an SSD for the operating system and programs, and a 1TB HDD for storage both are brand new with no data installed. Once I receive the PC I will be installing my own copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have read on a number of forums that I need to unplug the HDD before completing the clean install of Windows 7 onto the SSD otherwise the boot partition will install onto the HDD if I keep it plugged in. I cant find any user guides/videos tutorials for this situation so would appreciate it if someone could confirm if its best to disconnect the HDD as I dont want to start taking the side of the case and unplugging the HDD if its not required.

I'm running 32-bit build 7231 and want to upgrade to 7260. Yeah, I know that a clean install is preferred, but I want to test out the upgrade instead.
When I go to install it from the existing build, it complains about the version. So, I went into the cversion.ini file and change MinClient to 7000, thinking that would fix it. But it still complains.
So, is there more to it than that? OR is it that this build simply can't be installed as an upgrade?

I've just finished my brand new build and am now ready to install Windows 7.
However when I load the disk select custom install and its asks me to select where I want the OS to be installed, I get an error message saying it cant find my HDD and I need to select the appropriate drivers.
I can see my Hitachi 500Gb in the BIOS, I have tried ATHC and IDT settings but still wont work. I have tried factory default setting in the BIOS but still Win7 cannot pick up my HDD.
The LED is flashing also to note that the Drive is working. Also Win7 wont let me format the disk either.

I have built a computer almost exactly to the one that they had built for Jeff on Tested.com. Everything seemed to install fine and run smoothly. Recently, I have been getting BSODs and they seem to be somewhat random. Usually when I am watching movies/streaming online/listening to music in Zune or iTunes. I don't really understand why this is happening. I have been looking around the internet and many people say that memory could be the problem but I have tested it with the windows memory test tool, all results have come back with no errors. I for some reason cannot Memtest to run.

All of these components are less than days old, bought new and put straight into this build. Keep getting a BSOD so I guess I'll try to give as much information as I can and hopefully someone can give me a hand. It's also worth noting that it seems to occur more frequently while playing Star Wars the Old Republic but has also occurred while not doing so. I have a new custom built computer put together by someone I work with. I have been plagued with problems and I think it's hardware related. I got my friend to reinstall Windows but it crashed several times before install completed. He said he tried on my SSD and Samsung HD but still the same problems occur.Ran Memtest and passed several cycles but tried again and got errors. I removed a ram stick and it passed but got a BSOD after 30 minutes of browsing the web. Then the other stick had the same problems but passed Memtest for 20 minutes until the text on screen garbled where errors are usually listed. I reran test and it passed for a long time. I have no overclock and everything is running at correct voltage. Seems to be very random and can happen when purposely restarting my PC or doing barely anything at all.I'm starting to think it's either the RAM or motherboard causing the problems. Here are my components-
i7 2600k
Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 Z68
8 GB G.Skill 1866 Ram
ATI 6950
OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB SSD
1TB Samsung HD
Corsair HX850W PSU
I include my last batch of crash dumps since I had Windows reinstalled.I might have to RMA something but want to narrow things down.

Got to be quick because I've already had a BSOD trying to post this. This is a new build. All new components. All kinds of error codes contantly. I've updated Bios, SSD firmware, all drivers I can find, did a clean reinstall of Windows 7, ran memtest86 twice (20 passes total) on both sticks no errors, ran chkdsk -no errors although I see one today from my bios resetting defaults to IDE instead of ACHI - my fault. Ran Driver Verifier and came up with a violation in Event Viewer but I don't know how to read it. And yes I wear ESD straps etc. when I work on it.Also no overclocking / unlocking - everything is stock / default.

I built this rig 3 weeks ago. Never had any glitches or problems. Just randomly today while web browsing I got a BSOD. I don't know how to access the BSOD files to see the cause. Can someone please help me troubleshoot, i've never dealt with this before. I don't overclock just so everyone knows. I ran prime 95 for about an hour with all passes and perfect temps.

I am the developer of a driver for a network adapter device that does scatter-gather DMA. Driver is not newly developed, but has had some recent changes. My client has a puzzling BSOD on one x64 machine after about 18 hours of successful operation. My x64 Win 7 machine runs fine forever. Client's box crashes in seemingly random places that indicate mem corruption.Mem test on machine was clean. Minidump is attached. WinDbg stack doesn't trace back to my code - it just shows the calls to handle the exception. Any clues y'all can see?System info from WinDbg:Windows 7 Kernel Version 7601 (Service Pack 1) MP (4 procs) Free x64Product:WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTSBuilt by: 7601.17640.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506One difference between client's x64 and mine: Theirs has a valid DMA MapRegisterBase pointer from a AllocateAdapterChannel call, where mine (and my x86 systems) always have a null DMA MapRegisterBase

I have built a few computers over the years and this is the first one that has had an issue that has totally stumped me. I have built it for the parents. Now as far as i can tell everything is fine with the build, but the computer is randomly BSOD,especially when running the WINDOWS VERIFIER, to catch the error (BSOD on startup).I have used a program to analyze the results of the Verifier and this is the result:
On Wed 5/23/2012 9:14:30 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:Windowsmemory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ndisrd.sys (ndisrd+0x266E)
Bugcheck code: 0xC4 (0x40, 0x0, 0xFFFFF9800ED66C50, 0x0)

I've recently replaced my Win7 (7100) x32 with the x64 version in order to make use of more memory (not yet installed). However, although the rig I'm using had no problems in x32, it keeps BSODing in x64. Are there any commonly known reasons for BSODs in x64 when not in x32?
I have all drivers installed, updated and seemingly working. I get a BSOD within about 20 mins of booting usually. No temp issues with CPU - all under 30 idle and BSOD isn't necessarily when the CPU is stressed.

Quad Core 2.4 Q6600
Asus P5K Mobo

I built this PC in February. From day one I have been getting random blue screen errors, with many different bug check and error codes. Bug check 109 seems to be the one I have seen the most. I have ran memtest on my RAM sticks, one came back clean after 8 passes, the other had errors. So I re-installed Windows with only the good RAM stick, and am still getting blue screen crashes. They are, however less frequent. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the manufactures for all hardware components.
I haven't run into this much trouble setting up any of the other PCs I have built, so I am a bit lost trying to figure this out.

I've been getting a BSOD sometimes on start up or shortly after. I've used the debugger to check the dump file and the driver that would appear to be faulty is dtsoftbus01 which from what I read is daemon tools. I had daemon tools on this computer at one point in time but I've since reformatted my hard drive so daemon tools shouldn't still be installed.
