Pagefault In Non Paged Area Bsod After Windows Installs Unknown Updates

Sep 12, 2011

last night before I shut my pc down I was fiddling with windows updates. all I did was make sure that it was set to not install anything automatically and ask me before it does anything. Then oddly enough when I shut down it said it was installing windows updates yet I did not see any updates ready to install before I shut down so I was very confused. I let it do its thing and then it finally shut down. Now when I start the pc today I get a blue screen of death that says pagefault_in_non_paged_area when Windows was finalizing the update install..it rebooted again, tried once more to finalize updates and got another bsod. I rebooted into safe mode at next reboot and it said it was uninstalling the updates because windows failed to load. It restarted normally and it said it was uninstalling and then bsod again. This time when I started up the system repair option came on. I let it do its thing but the issue couldnt be auto fixed it said. I clicked the details and there was signature 07 saying BadDriver. The details are sketchy from here because im having a hard time remembering them, but it let me go into system recovery so i chose to roll back to the time where it showed there was a windows update installed at like 1AM(there was not however, i have no clue why it said this). It wasnt able to roll back to that point and let me choose another. I instead chose to run the memory diagnostics. Windows rebooted and stuck on my bios splash screen. i restarted and it stuck once again.

Bad Pool Header BSOD - Cannot Boot Into Safe Or Normal Mode

Jul 2, 2012

So I just got back from a 3 day vacation, and when I came back I rebooted my computer only to come back to the "Start Windows Normally/ launch startup repair" naturally I chose startup repair, it froze. Tried starting normally, took me back to the same page. So I tried booting in safe mode, took me to the BSOD that read Bad_pool_header. So then I tried to putting in my windows 7 installation disc to see if I could do a system recover from there, but as soon as I try boot up with the disc it takes me back to the same BSOD. I feel completely stuck as I've tried everything I can think of.

Acer Aspire 4740G. 2 years old. Last 1-2 weeks constant BSOD as per title, and random freezing up, forcing restart. On restart, random issues pop-up e.g. "Windows explorer is not working", "Login services not working (causes me to be logged into a new profile, all settings, icons, wallpaper gone)". The system has run the Memory Diagnostics test. Extracting from the Event Viewer, the results are as follows:

Bad Pool Header Error - Installation Crashes With Blue Screen

Oct 8, 2009

i m on a amd dual core 5200, abit k9n with latest bios, ati 4830, 2gb ram 800mhz (2x1)

i have downloaded from my university Windows 7 x64 version (the free copy for students build 7600) but i have also tryed 2 other versions (rc i think, both 64 and 32) with no success.

first of all, the starting installation page is very slow, after 4-5 minuts on "setup is starting" (advance mode, not upgrade), and at the second step (expanding windows files 0%)

installation crashes with blue screen:

first time i get: bad pool header error

second time i m on another blue screen: "a device driver attemptingto corrupt the system has been caught. the faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced.."

now i will try the 3rd time to install in "safe mode" and i post new info here.

if u need something more to know for helping me ill provide them as fast as possible.

Random "Bad Pool Header" And "System Service Exception" BSODs

Apr 16, 2012

i have been getting these "bad pool header" and "system service exception" bsods for about a day now (the "bad pool header" one tends to pop up more often then the other btw). i ran a registry cleaner which didn't work and ran memtest this morning and it showed that my memory was fine. the bsods tend to occur more often when i am playing a game or running some program that uses a bit more memory but it also happens when i am just on the internet. on the other hand, last night i did nothing but surf Internet for 3 hours and didn't get a bsod at all. however, since then i haven't been able to do anything for more than 10 minutes (without being in safe mode) without it crashing, and this morning it completely froze until i turned it off. my os is windows 7 home premium 64bit. it came preinstalled from the manufacturer and unfortunately i do not have the install disc. the entire laptop is less than 2 years old and there have been no major hardware changes and i have never reinstalled the os.

Bad Pool Caller BSOD

Jan 21, 2013

I have a Gigabyte P43 MB. I cannot successfully install Windows 7 or WinXP.It has been giving me different BSODs and getting to different parts of the install before it BSODs. returned it to Gigabyte and they say they could find no problem. Now I get the same thing except it only gets to load files and never gets into startup.I get 0A, 24, 19, C2 BSODs..I have the MB sitting on my bench now, but when I first fully installed it into a case it did the same thing.I have tried this with 2 CPUs, 2 Graphic cards, 2 PSUs, 2 HDDs, and memory right out of my P35 MB. All of the components run fine on the P35 MB.I can boot to Hiren's disc, I can run memory test, I can find no problems - but I can't Install OS.

BSOD Bad Pool Caller

Nov 8, 2009

I have just built a new computer with the following specs:

When gaming on the computer it will crash and a BSOD will come up saying Bad Pool Caller. Or just a blue screen of death saying there is a problem with your video card. I have reinstalled the drivers for this card and used older drivers however the problem still continues. I have now put my Gigabyte GTX260 in this sytem above and all seems well at the moment plays games and passes tests with 3DMark 06.

Does this sound like a driver or a faulty video card problem??

Also one other thing I have noticed about the disk drive is the tray that opens seems to open a bit then open fully has anyone else experienced this problem before?

[BSOD] Bad Pool Caller When Playing Games?

May 7, 2012

i started having this issue awhile ago, but never had much time to try to troubleshoot it, in fact, it went away for a little while...i will play a game (starcraft 2) for maybe 40 minutes or so when the screen will screw up, make a buzzing noise, go the bsod and try to restart the computer. sometimes it will restart without trouble.there's also times where i will exit the game and go to Internet and it will crash then as well. at the blue screen, i have seen these two error messages the most:bad pool caller irql not less or equalreading through others' posts on various sites, i have done the following:updated various drivers, including my videoupdated biosinstalled the new version of nortonran memtest (no errors)it also seemed to me that the machine was running loud, so i opened it up and blew out the dust. after this, the problem stopped for about a month. now its back.i'm going to run memtest a few more times, swapping out the ram, because it sounds like it doesn't always catch stuff the first time.

BSOD - Page Fault In Non Paged Area

Sep 19, 2012

I've been getting the BSOD "Page fault in non paged area" a few times every day on my laptop and I don't have a clue why. I've had this laptop for around a year, and it has only just happened once I've got to university. I haven't changed any hardware or installed any new software recently and the only thing I can think of that has changed is that I am using my accommodation's wired internet - but I don't know whether that could cause this or not.

My comp recently BSOD

Computer Spec:

Intel C2D E7500 2.9GHz (OC'ed to 3.6Ghz)
Kingston 2 x 2GB DDR2 RAM
Asus P5Q SE2
Inno3D Gtx 560 Ti
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

i think its due to my HDD. Drive sentinel says:

The drive tried to examine and reallocate data sector(s) 7 times. The examined data area is perfect. Problems occurred during the spin up of the disk 1 times. This can be caused by the disk itself or huge power load (weak power supply). There are 25 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk. 8466 errors occured during data transfer. This may indicate problem of the device or with data/power cables. It is recommended to examine and replace the cables if possible. At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further. It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.

Seriously not a power supply issue. since it's 600w true rated. Checked the cables too. Oh i plugged in an external HDD too. Is this related?

BSOD When Booting From CD - Page Fault In Nonpaged Area

Jun 30, 2012

HP Pavilion a4316f-b, Home Premium, 64-bit

The PC was displaying symptons of page hijacking, so I ran MalwareBytes and got rid of 17 objects. Did not make a difference, so I ran TDSSKiller. It found 1 bit of malware but the hijacking persisted. I downloaded ComboFix and ran it in Safe Mode. It gave me some sort of error that was only visible for a split second before it disappeared, leaving only the initial small blue CF box, which stopped functioning, and I noticed that the CF task was gone. This happened 3 times in a row.

I then tried a system restore to about 3 weeks ago. It probably sat on the 'restoring files' screen for a half hour before finally saying 'Shutting Down'. After 45 minutes of (not) shutting down I pressed the power button and turned it off.

A restart brought me to the Windows Error Recovery Screen where I am presented with but 2 choices - Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally.

The 'repair' option takes me to a Windows Boot Manager screen which prompts me to insert the install disk and reboot, indicating that The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

So I use the CD. When booting from that CD I can see it loading files, then it says Starting Windows, the initial blue sky screen displays for a few seconds - then the BSOD: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA with an 0x50 code. This always happens with this disk.

A different Windows 7 CD has given me the same start up to the blue sky, but with 3 different BSODs. One had Bad Pool Header and the other said An attempt was made to write to read-only memory and the 3rd had the same PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Only 3 of the 4 choices presented to me at HP opening boot screen seemed to work when I first started this awful task. F11 for Recovery did nothing. I DID use f9-Diagnostics and it passed all the tests. Now, sadly, the only option that works is ESC to change the boot order.

Constant Page In Nonpaged Area/ 0X00000050 BSOD

May 23, 2012

I have trawled the forums and tried what seem to be the usual tricks.

Including: Running anti virus (AVG)
Running a registry cleaner
Running a Malware cleaner
Replacing old RAM with newer and more RAM.
Removing Daemon tools

Some of these measure have provided (the illusion of?) stability, but never for more than a day. SO, I'm a bit stumped and hope someone can advise. Perhaps interestingly I am having some problems updating my ATI driver, it is 12.3 instead of 12.4 at the moment. I have included specs below, unfortunately I don't seem to be able to attach Minidumps.

Random But Frequent BSOD : Page Fault In Non Paged Area

Jan 3, 2012

I have a computer as described in my profile and ive had it for about a year now. about 6 months ago i occasionally got BSOD and ignored it Then i upgraded the ram to 16gb (was origionally 6gb) and it was great (ran so smooth) but recently ive been getting this BSOD more and more frequent and now the pc is quite unuseable.

i searched up online and found that it could be software, ram or hardrive most probably so first i tried a factory restore and still got bsod and freezes then i tried factory restore once more... no luck then i downloaded a home premium iso installed that and it appeared to be working then that started doing it.

next i tried Ram first i downgraded it to 8gb then swapped it back to the 6gb it came with none of this helped

now i think it must be the harddrive or something wrong with the motherboard. since i cant use it atm im quite ****** off (Ps:the blue screen error message is "Page fault in non paged area" every time)

Page Fault In Non-Paged Area BSOD, Now (Almost) Everything "Has Stopped Working"

Oct 9, 2011

Was playing New Vegas earlier today and suddenly got a BSOD. Error type was Page Fault in Non-Paged Area. My general approach is to just leave the machine off for an hour or so after a BSOD. Booted it up again a short while ago and was pleased to see Windows load and give me a login prompt. Logged in, everything seems fine so I close the "Windows has a recovered from..." message.

I try to launch a program and it immediately tells me, "X has stopped working". Hmmmm. Try again, same result. Try a different program, same result. The following things do work: Notepad, Windows Explorer, Device Manager, Disk Management, command prompt. Windows Media Player Classic works until I ask it to actually play something. Everything else gives me the "X has stopped working" almost as soon as I launch it, including DXDIAG and right-clicking on My Computer and picking Properties.

Since Disk Management worked I went ahead and ran the error checker on both my drives, they both came back clean.

I noticed that all the "X has stopped working" messages gave essentially the same details (parts that are different each time are in italics):
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: whatever.exe
Application Version: something.something.something
Application Timestamp: 4xxxxxxx
Fault Module Name: RPCRT4.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17514
Fault Module Timestamp: 4ce7ba59
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00039ab8
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Info 1: 0a9e
Additional Info 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Additional Info 3: (same as Add Info 1)
Additional Info 4: (same as Add Info 2)

Since they were all complaining about rpcrt4.dll, I grabbed my laptop and downloaded a fresh copy of that dll from dll-files.com. I changed the name of the old one to "rpcrt4 old.dll" and dropped in the new one. Problem persisted, so I used command prompt to run regsvr32 rpcrt4.dll and got an error message saying, "The module rpcrt4.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070006."

Checked the BSOD sticky in the BSOD subforum here, the article there says "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" indicates (their words) "Faulty hardware, including RAM (system, video, or L2 cache)".

How would I go about identifying which piece of hardware has failed?

EDIT: Now I get that BSOD again every time I try to boot up
