Apr 22, 2011

I thought the slate was clean but tricky livemail seems to have made a back-door backup of my emails in folder 'all email' under heading 'Quick Views'. How do I find the location of this file in C drive and what other possible locations are there so that when I reload my emails again that I have a clean slate.

Locked Out Of Livemail

Aug 16, 2011

So I am helping a friend with her Live mail (Hotmail). I dont use it so you will have to forgive me. She forgot her password and it locked her out of the account. She has tried the passwords that she has written down and none of them work. We tried the forgot your password link and had it sent to an email of hers that no longer exists. Then tried to send it to her trusted PC but there is constantly an error code for some reason. Then I tried having it sent to another email address (mine) but I have to verify her Identity. the questions it asks are such as the last subjects sent, last addresses sent to, CC info, Xbox tag, she doesnt have Xbox, CC info on there, nor remembers last addresses sent to other than mine and one other one nor one last subject entry. When I tried sending it off the first time. Microsoft pushed it back saying "there is not enough information to verify identification" then I tried it a second time and it went through but it failed to send me her temporary password or anything. Is there a way I can get into her mail for her or a password cracker or something that I can help her get back into her email. She has been locked out for about 3 weeks now.

Locating And Removing BabylonTB?

Jul 12, 2012

This topic has possibly been posted before but 'search' brought up huge lists of data, copy and pasted from other posters' computers, - it was confusing.Basically, I downloaded Java as I need it to do an online course. As part of the download, I didn't untick the "recommended" toolbar MyBabylonTB as I assumed it was needed. A later Norton scan showed that MyBabylonTB had been allowed to access my computer.n anti-Malware scan didn't show up this software but I want to remove it. On the Norton forum, someone suggested this:"Download OTLDisable Norton for say 30 minutesStart OTL, Click the Scan All Users checkbox.Change file age to 90 daysPress the "Run Scan"An OTL.txt and extras.txt will be created".Has anyone else done this? Does it work and how exactly does this locate and remove MyBabylonTB? Also how do I disable the current antivirus system on my computer?

Drive In 'User' Folder / 'Location' Tab In Drive Properties

Dec 20, 2012

I tried to move my Music library, but instead of including the 'Music' folder in F: drive, I included the drive itself.I promptly included the 'Music' folder in F: and set it as the default location, then removed F: from the Music library locations.I've since deleted the 'Music' library twice and performed restarts for each attempt. None removed my F: drive from my 'Users' folder or removed the 'Locations' tab from the F: drive properties.

How To Delete A Folder From C Drive

Sep 20, 2010

I installed Windows 7 on a clean hard drive with only one user account and password. After installing McAfee, the Windows password was not recognized, and all I could do was reinstall Windows and I did this without assigning a password. I could not solve the problem in Safe Mode. I see a folder called c:Windows.old, and the properties show it takes 15 gigabytes. I tried deleting this folder by putting a shortcut to explore.exe on the desktop and running as administrator, but it runs to a point and then says I don't have permission. I assume this folder exists because I had to reinstall Windows.

Can't Create New Folder On One Drive

Aug 14, 2009

I'm not sure which section of the forum to post this. For some reason in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) I don't have the option to create a new folder in the root of one mapped domain network drive. What's weird is that with all of my other network drives I can, and I can make new folders in subfolders of the drive I'm having problems with. I just can't in the root of that one drive. The account I'm logged in with does have full control of the folder the drive maps to. I've checked with another member on our domain that is running the same RC1 and he doesn't have this problem.

How To Change Folder Name Under C Drive Users

Mar 24, 2011

I got a new laptop at work, and the IT group performed the initial setup. Of course, they entered my name incorrectly. I am the "administrator" on this computer, and I made the correction. However, on the C: drive, under the C:Users folder, my misspelled name persists. I select then right-click, but I cannot change the folder name. I see that the "lock" symbol is displayed next to the folder name, so obviously, the folder is locked and that explains why I can't change the folder name. How do I change a folder's name under C:users?

Invisible Boot Folder On Non-OS Drive?

Oct 29, 2012

I still only have one IDE drive connected. On it there's an invisible folder, Boot, that contains a bunch of language folders, and a few additional files: BCD, BCD.LOG, BCD.LOG1, BCD.LOG2, BOOTSTAT.DAT, memtest.exe. The dates of these folders hasn't changed since May, which I suppose might've been when I installed Windows for the final time. So, what is this folder? Is it safe to delete? Did it have something to do with the hardware raid setup I used earlier? The motherboard is an ASUS P8P67 Pro.

Moving The 'Users' Folder From C: To Another Drive

Jul 24, 2009

I want to move the users folder from C: to D:.

i read, on another forum, that this could be done like so...
Lets imagine you have a PC with 3 accounts.

One is a plain admin account, (administrator) another is an account you have created for the move (adminmove) and the other is a boggo ussr account (user)

Shut down PC (important)

Fire up PC, log on as administrator. Run regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList

Change profilesdirectory to the new location. Any new users will now have their profiles go there.

go to your documents and settings folder. copy the adminmove and user folders to the new location. You will not get errors about files being locked UNLESS you have services using any of these user accounts to log on. To find out if you do go start>run>services.msc and make sure the log on as section uses no user accounts there.

Leave the S-15-18, S-15-19 and S-15-20 subkeys alone. Those profiles take up next to no space and I wouldn't risk changing them.

You will see some S-15-XX-blah subkeys. These are for the user accounts that exist on the computer. Within each key is a ProfileImagepath REG_EXPAND_SZ

Change these for all but the account you are logged on as.
Shutdown and restart the PC. Log on as adminmove.

start>run>cmd

type set and make sure the USERPROFILE shows the new location.

Move the administrator folder from documents and settings to the new location. Go into regedit again and change the profileimagepath for the administrator account.

Job done. If you want you can delete the profile for the adminmove account and delete the user. Use My computer/properties to delete the profile though. Do not use windows explorer

P.S. If you are determined to move the localservice and networkservice folders, boot in safe mode

Move Applications Folder To A Different Drive?

May 31, 2012

I have the following system setup: 2TB drive divided into three partitions: C: 50GB - Windows 7 installation E: 1000GB - Applications (in a folder called 'Apps') and videos F: 950GB - Music and games

I bought a 120GB SSD and installed it yesterday, and the SSD is partitioned into one 30GB partition, and one 80GB ish partition

I migrated my Windows 7 installation from the hard drive onto the SSD using AOMEI Partition Assistant, which worked perfectly, and very quickly. I then told the BIOS to boot from the SSD, and it works fine.

I now want to move my applications (over 50) onto the SSD. Is it possible to copy the 'Apps' folder over to the second partition of my SSD, and get them to work somehow, or will I have to uninstall and reinstall all of them? (Which I'm not looking forward to, if so!)

User Profile Folder On Different Drive

Feb 25, 2010

I know that it's possible because I know my profile and files at work are on server somewhere allowing you to login at any machine. Is it difficult to configure all user's profile and folders (Documents Pictures ect.) to be created on another drive or partition? I know I can just create new folders with these name and store my files on another drive ( that's what I have done for years).

This means I have to ignore the folders designed for my account. Even doing it this way programs by default drop stuff in the default folders. I want to create a lean C: drive. I assume this is a registry edit. I am getting ready to clean install WIN7 PRO. If this is possible can anyone tell me how?
