Linksys Router Will Respond To Pings But Won't Connect To Internet?
Jul 12, 2012
I am running windows 7, 64 bit and have been having an issue with my Linksys E1500 router recently that has my ISP
My router will respond to pings from my laptop both wirelessly and when connected via ethernet cable, and will respond to pings from my ISP, but it won't allow my laptop to connect to the internet. I have rest and reconfigured the router a bunch of times, leaving the MAC address alone, cloning it to my laptop's ethernet port, and cloning it to my wireless cards MAC addresses, respectively. None of that allows it to connect. Linksys (Cisco) has been useless in helping both via their site and when contacted, encouraging me to pay $40 to talk to someone who MAY be able to help.
Note: The router worked fine for about 4 months, then one morning, couldn't connect to the internet through it. Have to connect directly from the modem via ethernet cable.
From what I've been seeing and been doing my research for the past two days, many people have been having the same issues throughout the years, however, this is the first time I've encountered this issue and many of the specific workarounds or fixes have not worked for me. I've been trying to work through this for 24 hours straight now,On Monday night, got home from work; surfing the internet for half an hour, everything was fine as always. Just after half an hour, my Internet got very sluggish and then it died completely. I thought it might have been the an update I just put through in terms of Windows Update that said was a critical update for MSE, as the same thing happened a few years ago. I did a System Restore to two different dates that were in the past two weeks, nothing.
Uninstalled MSE and disabled Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall: Nothing.eset IE Options, Reset Winsock, Dumping DNS, many of the other command prompt screens to reset items: Nothing.Reset the modem: Nothing. What DID work, however, was a ping test to Yahoo. The ping test worked, saying all four packets was recieved, yet nothing else popped up. LAN and CenturyLink said everything worked on their end and that everything was connected properly, as well as the speeds working fine.CenturyLink said in their notes that they thought Port 80 was blocked. I went and put in the Firewall to allow Port 80 but it didn't make any difference whatsoever.
I remembered I had a spare modem laying around and I switched them up, both modem and the cords - nothing. then hooked it up to my netbook to see if that would work, as it usually does - connection didn't work there either.Like I said, it's been about 24 hours now and this is increasingly frustrating, as I've tried all solutions (While browsing through 10 search results pages on my phone) suggested and still nothing
Just did a clean windows 7 x64 installation on a build a box computer with a new hard drive. Install went fine. Plugged it in to my 3 month old Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router (WRT54GL) and it doesn't recognize that there is any connection at all. Windows says "No connections are available" and troubleshooting can't identify the problem. The light on the router and on the computer comes on. I am running a wired connected XP computer and 2 Win 7 x32 wireless connected computers just fine. Ran ipconfig /all and it came up as follows:
Host Name.................... : Bottomdweller-PC Primary DNS suffix.......... : Node Type ....................: Hybrid
[Code]....
All wires are connected. I've tried booting in Safe mode with networking. I've even connected the computer directly to the cablevision modem. I've installed a USB Linksys wireless adapter and although it installs fine, it doesn't see the router at all. I've also tried reinstalling the router directly on this computer but it doesn't see the router at all.
I've tried setting up a new connection or network, Connecting to a network and choosing a homegroup and sharing option but since you need a network to connect to first I couldn't do it.
Not my week so far yet another problem. Been trying all day to connect to the internet with the above router.Happened accross a screen saying Firewall settings. It says for the inbound services "BLOCK always" is this my problem?I have tried to amend this to " ALLOW always" to which the outbound services are already set.My next problem is it is asking for the inbound services to be adjusted so I have setthe service parameter to ALL, action ALLOW always but now is the problem it wants an address putting into the 4 boxes for the Send to LAN Server parameter,I have tried various setting but to no avail. Exactly where can I get this information from?
I have a netgear wireless router upstairs. My dell laptop, my iMac (which is downstairs) and my iPad/iPhones all connect anywhere in the house. My Toshiba laptop and my work dell will not connect or it connects very intermittently. I can stay connected for days on other wifi networks, just not at home. Any ideas?
For some reason my router and modem will not show correctly on my dell inspirion one desktop. Im running windows 7 and here are the net work connection deatils

The Connection was working about ten days ago and then suddenly stopped and read as an unidentified network no internet access. at one point is was not receiving packets but now it is but it still says no internet access on the IPv4 Connectivity. Media state is also enabled and the speed is 100.0 Mbps when i troubleshoot it says windows cant identify problem but in the details it says default gateway is available. when i use the cmd prompt ipconfig/all my local ethernet adapter has a physical address of all zeros.
I finally have my comp back up and running. I need to know if there is a way to configure tomato on my router so it gets the best performance. Is there a tut somewhere or a pdf? I hear it is really good but I have no knowledge of using it.
I have no idea what my username and password for linksys router are. I tried to connect to http://192.168.1.1/ using defult (admin, admin) or (blank, admin) but had no luck. How can I reset the username and pass for the router in order to get acces to the settings?
I recently purchased a new desktop and it came with windows 7. I am having trouble hooking up my router, it will not allow me to access the Internet through the router. I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 (I know it's a dinosaur but I've never had issues before) The router will not even install. Upon further investigation I've discovered that my problem may lie with Windows 7.
How do I connect my existing LAN which utilizes a Linksys WRT54G connecting 4 computers, 4 printers and access from several locations in the house to an Actiontec PK5000 DLL Modem/Router? I am currently connected to the Internet via a Comcast Modem, however, I am switching to Qwest which utilizes the Actiontec. I rally do not want to completely reconfigure my LAN. My operating System is Windows 7.
I just bought a Netgear WNA3100 wireless usb adapter for my HP Win 7 64 bit laptop. I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.
I having trouble maintaining a connection to the internet,I would be connected for about 15-30 mins before having the yellow triangle show up on connection bars.Only a restart gets my connection back and the shutdown process take forever,I using linksys wusb100,any helpful suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I'm getting pinged constantly and I don't know what program is doing it. Is there a way of listing all my programs to configure which one could be the culprit?
My netbook shows signals from others in the area but shows a red X next to my router connection. I can't seem to get connected to my own wireless router
I have CANYON 11g AP Router which is conencted to this PC and a Windows 7 PC (my workstation). Last night the providers connection dropped so after finishing my work I didn't stand around to check if the internet will be back and closed it. This morning my girlfriend tried to unplug something and accidentally unplugged the router. Ever since that happened, this PC, running XP has no internet connection issues. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 PC cannot connect to the Internet. I tried disabling and enabling, it ahs a clear connection towards "Multiple networks", but from there to the "Internet" it does not connect. I also tried a diagnostics and a firewall deactivation but still no luck. My Netwpork meter gadgetr shows my Int. IP as 192.168.1.2 and my Ext. IP as NO CONNECTION.When I try to connect to the internet it appears that Mozilla finds the website but cannot conenct to it. At least that's what I think, since it is stuck on "Connecting" and not on "Looking up". Ipconfig does not work, it only shows the window for a brief second, then auto closes.
So everything was fine until today when I woke up. My internet wouldn't work, it was saying that I was connected with internet access but never gave me it. I checked my router settings and it shows all the correct things.
So then, I decided to check my brother's computer which is in the same room and he couldn't connect either. I turned my computer off and somehow, my brother's computer had internet access and could access the internet.
Posting from my brother's PC now. I have attempted everything, restarted the power to everything about 5 times. Our internet has always worked and has until today.
Can't connect my Xbox to my router.I've just brought a new router. It is a Tenda W311R Wireless N Cable DSL Broadband Router. But I can't connect it to my Xbox 360 S.I've managed to add my PC, Laptop, and PS3 to my home network without any difficulty however.I've encrypted my home network with WPA2 as recommended by Microsoft. These are the steps I took when trying to add my xbox 360 S console to my home network:
1. On the console I went to My Xbox 2. Then System Settings. 3. Network Settings 4. Scan for Networks 4. My router was listed so I selected it 5. I then entered my WPA2 wireless password 6. Then I selected Test Xbox Live Connection.
The console then said it couldn't connect to my wireless network. I was thinking that the Xbox 360 S console's built-in Wi-Fi uses the 2.4 gigahertz frequency band. Maybe my router is broadcasting using another frequency... But I have yet to check what that frequency is.
I just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 15r.. (was using an HP mini before Dell, had same issue) It has Windows 7..The router is a Belkin G Model F5F7234-4... Co worker can connect, this router used to be in his home so he configured it then and just brought it to work and didnt have to do anything but plug and play.. then i came along and couldnt connect..Im currently using the internet on my Dell connected by my EVO with PDANET..When i came in with my Dell i automatically tried connecting with out any set up, usually works perfect anywhere i go.. but keeps showing unidentified network and showing it as a public access... iv googled and read everything from disable mcafee and try connecting with the ethernet cable... before i had a cable i tried running belkin setup assistant cd and it would say no connection to router.. i finally got ahold of an extra cable today and tried that in to set it up with the cd while wired, at first it showed on the laptop it was wired and i put in the belkin setup assistant cd and it would just keep looking for the router,(now just showed wired on router but not on computer) then tried manual set up where IE popped up with http://192.168.2.1/ in the address bar, but wouldnt connect.. tried to diagnose everything every time.. it keeps saying can not connect via net work adapter or LAN does not have valid ip address... iv reset and or disabled then enabled everything.. i have all passwords and pins to the router.. i would keep using my pdanet but trial is up and its gonna cut off on me soon like last week, it keeps messing with me.. but why pay for it or use it when i have a perfectly good network to connect to at work!
I recently built my own gaming pc, spec'd as follows:
Asus Rampage IV Formula Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit I73930k GTX 680 120gb ssd etc.
I have installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit with no real problems. Except the internet connection! I have Sky Broadband which has a Sky router. I can connect my laptop wirelessly so i know it works ok. The only way my 'new' desktop will connect to the Sky router is by using an Ethernet cable. It simply cannot connect to it wirelessly.
I work in a small office and use a laptop with Windows 7. We use the same router and have wired internet. His computer is connected to a "Network 4" while mine is connected to the private wireless internet system we've set up. He can't connect to any other connections on his computer while all the other connections around our office is visible on my laptop.
I have a D-LiNK router I want to connect two pcs to it through LAN when I do. one of them connects to the internet and the other not i tried to set the ip to obtained manually i gave one 192.168.1.100 and the other 192.168.1.10 and I gave the primary DNS to preferred DNS server and the secondary DNS to alternative DNS server and it didn't work too.
Well, I have a Satellite I355D-S7825. I checked under Device Manager and I only see the local ethernet connection I'm using, and it won't wirelessly connect anymore...I'm not sure what to do, or what driver to update or how.
