View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7, 64 bit and have been having an issue with my Linksys E1500 router recently that has my ISP
My router will respond to pings from my laptop both wirelessly and when connected via ethernet cable, and will respond to pings from my ISP, but it won't allow my laptop to connect to the internet. I have rest and reconfigured the router a bunch of times, leaving the MAC address alone, cloning it to my laptop's ethernet port, and cloning it to my wireless cards MAC addresses, respectively. None of that allows it to connect. Linksys (Cisco) has been useless in helping both via their site and when contacted, encouraging me to pay $40 to talk to someone who MAY be able to help.
Note: The router worked fine for about 4 months, then one morning, couldn't connect to the internet through it. Have to connect directly from the modem via ethernet cable.
I have a Linksys WRT54G v2 & latest OEM firmware. A few days ago I tried to release & renew my IP address to get a new one. It did not change, and just thought the Comcast modem was remembering the IP and just went about my normal web surfing. Today, nothing would connect to the internet. My WRT54Gs status was fine & had the same IP it had a few days ago.
I tried to release & renew the IP again, nothing changed. I called Comcast tech, and the automated thing reset the modem, still no internet, still same IP address. I released the IP & unplugged the router for about 5 mins, renewed & got the same IP again. I released again, and reset to factory defaults, same IP again. I tried connecting directly to the modem and see if I works, and it did!
I had another D-Link DI-624 Rev C v2.70 .. released the IP, and hooked it up .. everything works fine. So for S&Gs I released and hooked up the WRT54G to see if the IP changed at all, nope same IP! I would like to use the Linksys again, as the D-Link sometimes got funky under heavy load.
I have a Linksys WRT54g wireless router. Connected to it wirelessly are a pc with xp, an xbox, and an iphone. My wife just got a laptop (toshiba) with windows 7. Whenever she turns it on and connects to the router (wireless) all other connections drop for a few minutes, then everything finally reconnects.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a little problem with installing my new router. There were quite a lot of problems with the old smc, so I've bought a TP-Link router. I installed it just alright, it said congratulations, you have internet. I don't have though, not even on the directly plugged computer. It's kind of frustrating, since the old router is still working like before. So I plugged an ethernet cable from the old router's lan to the tp-link wan and with that, the new network is working just fine. The problem with the internet access occurs only, if the router is directly plugged to the modem. (The computers do find the network but the connection is kind of offline.) I don't really know what could be the problem, since I'm a little new to routers. I've read almost everything in the new router's manual and I'm pretty sure it's installed correctly. (ISP username and password copied from the old settings, mac address copied, all ip addresses pinged, done power cycle etc..) I also tried all of this on two different computers, in case eset is in some magical way blocking the router. Turned out this wasn't the problem. Well, I may have overlooked something though. I thought about resetting the modem, but I'm a bit afraid of losing the old router's internet connection as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled windows 7 home premium on my notebook, and downloaded the NIC & other necessary drivers from the manufacturer's website. I have no other software on the N/B. When I connect the LAN cable I can successfully ping my router, but not www.google.com. I can see the other PC's on the network. The icon on the bottom right shows a yellow triangle and I have no internet access. I have an automatic IP & DNS server set in the IPv4 & v6. I have a desktop PC running Windows 7 on the network that connects to the internet with the router.
I can't understand how a newly formatted PC struggles to connect to the internet (via LAN), when my username & password is already setup on my router.

Finally went ahead and set up security on my Linksys router today, but immediately after my PC could no longer connect to the network. There are two laptops, a desktop, a Playstation 3, and two smart phones that all have no troubles with accessing the network now, but this specific desktop continues to show limited access, despite having full bars.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.
Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'
-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working
All of these options did not work.
What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently moved downstairs in my household and was overjoyed to finally be able to use the network hub downstairs. Ive been using wireless lately which has served me well for my pc, but not for my Xbox 360.
Anyway I decided to plug in the ethernet cable and see if I might be able to set it up on my pc and then save the settings to a USB stick so I could use it for my 360 (right now it wont connect, says it cannot get an IP adress).
I didn't set up the network (my father did) so at this point I cant fiddle with the settings. Everything should be working, but its not.
When I plugged my pc directly into the hub upstairs it worked perfectly, but for some strange reason down here the connection comes up as
Unidentified Network, No Internet Access
Has anyone else had this problem before? The hub should be working (i even plugged it in after taking the cables out, resetting it if you will, no dice).
Also, forgot to add, it says that there is no connectivity, but I checked the connection and it automatically gets the ip and subnet address, which works fine with the wireless.
