Large Transfer Of Data Between Drive C: And Drive F:

I have been suggested to keep my data in a separate drive than my operating system.
Actually, my hard drive is partitioned in two drives, c: and F:
I want to transfers my directory c:user to f:user. I did try to copy between them, but some files where not transferred
So what is the best way to do that. After, do I need to do special thing to make sure that all the references will be followed to the new files positions, IE when accessing them via my task manager

installed a 60GB SSD a couple of years ago when they were quite expensive. I planned to use it solely for the operating system (Windows 7 Ultimate x 64). However over the years, it has become full to overflowing. I would like to clean it up and return it to the operating system only. Unfortunately I do not have the original disks or access to the installation programs for most of the information on the SSD. I have two other hard drives in the system - a 500GB Velociraptor that I originally wanted to hold all the programs and a 1000GB for the data. Can anyone tell me the best way to transfer the data off the SSD without screwing up my system?

I am attempting to help my friend. Has old laptop, been making system image backups with Macrium Free on external usb WD Hardrive. Now wishes to get new laptop and transfer pertinent data and programs to the new computer. I haven't a clue. He had not installed the HD programming, using macrium instead.

I have a system drive on a workstation which is 1) removable, 2) contains 2 partitions - one for the sytem & data files, one reserved by the os.
I would like to use this drive and it's file data in an external drive case (SATA) connected to my notebook.
Will the notebook handle the external drive properly?

i tried last night and installed it on D drive, it's about 9.6G.but C DRIVE about 12G after i turn off hibernation and deleted the window old folder. it's so strange. is there any hidden folder to be deleted manual but i don't know?

So I've been using my 64GB ssd as my windows 7 boot drive and i have a 1TB hdd as my data drive. Recently the my computer has begun to freeze up with errors like "explorer.exe" has stopped responding or "windows" has stopped responding and half of the time when i try to boot it says it cant find windows. This has lead me to believe that my ssd is dying despite being only a year old. I need to RMA my ssd but to do that i would be losing my boot drive for weeks. So I thought id try to create a system image so that i can simply put my boot drive on my hdd, but when i try to create the image it says that the image would be 711GB because its including all of my hdd (which contains all my user libraries and downloads). My question is: how do I make windows stop thinking that my hdd is a system drive so that I can create a reasonably sized image, or more generally: how can i easily move my boot drive to my hdd? Also, I've read some posts about using "easyBCD" to accomplish the latter but I'm not sure that's exactly what i need in this situation.

This is my set up. I have my PC running Windows 7, connected through wireless to the internet and my home network via Apple Airport Extreme. I have a harddrive connected to the Airport Extreme acting as a network drive.I can see the network drive, and I pull files of all sizes from it, but I have not been able to push large files to it. I can push smaller files to it with no issues (so far success with up to 706MB). I tried pushing a 1.4GB video file to it and it keeps giving me the error message: "There is a problem accessing A: Make sure you are connected to the network and try again" I have an iMac hooked up to the network. I can push the same 1.4GB video file from my PC to the iMac over the wireless network. I just cannot push it onto the network harddrive. While I have no problems pushing large files onto the network harddrive from my iMac.So in summary:Pushing large files from PC to network harddrive - FailedPushing large files from PC to iMac - SuccessPushing large files from iMac to network harddrive - Success I've tried most of the proposed solutions I found on the internet. Just bought a new cyberpowerpc from Fry's, installed a 3rd hard drive (Western Digital 3TB). Everything seems okay except when I try to copy any large files/folders to the new drive. I'm using a folder that is 11.3GB with 686 files. I can copy it from drive 1 to drive 2 no problem. When I copy it from drive 1 or drive 2 to the third drive (the 3TB one), it will start copying then sometime soon after, explorer will close itself down and the computer will end up rebooting itself. Sometimes there will be a BSOD and sometimes it will just reboot without the BSOD.
I have tried to attach the dmp files etc...using the recommendations of the forum. I'd like to use this new drive for backups (it's the reason I got a new pc, my old one crashed and I didn't have a good backup system).

forum i have a question. I have a kingston 30 gb ssd i use as my windows drive, and a 750 gb wd hdd for data/game storage. I have heard that you can ghost a file on the data drive into the x86 folder so that all new installs go there and then you still recieve most of the benefits of your ssd w/o clogging it up. I have an amd based system (dont know if that matters or not)

For some reason I am not able to transfer large files to my Windows Home Server (home build). The file will start to transfer then just stop and error out.
The error message says Network Error: There is a problem accessing serverfolder.
This is on a wired connection so I dont know why it would just be dropping the connection. I can still surf the internet fine during this time.
Realtek RTL8169/8100 network cart, cat5e cable, 10/100 netgear 24 port unmanaged switch, WRT54GL router(tomato firmware). NICs are set to auto negotiate.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
I attached a screen shot of the error message and network monitor.

Just installed Windows 7 64 Home Pro from XP two days ago. The last remaining issue I need to solve is a drag and drop file transfer to my other home network computer (HNC).o far I've been able to d&d files from the HNC via Acronis WD in it's explorer mode without any issues, some sized in the multi Gb range. I'When I try to d&d a large file, specifically my NVIDIA drivers sized at 123Mb the Windows 7 computer freezes immediately. The cursor is stuck and the computer is absolutely locked, the only thing that works to recover it is the power off button.When I come back I don't get any indication of anything going wrong and if I look on the HNC drive the file has been transferred successfully

I recently installed an ssd and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it, now i was planning to use this as my boot drive, but apparently my mbr is still on my old copy of windows (HDD still has windows installed) now im wondering how can i transfer the mbr to my ssd so i can wipe windows from my old drive.

I have a 2TB hard drive which I bought to back up my DVD collection. At the time I thought I would never fill it, but at this point it is almost full and I can easily see myself filling another one some time in the future.I plan on adding another 2TB drive and putting them in RAID to appear as one volume, but I did this in the past (in RAID 0) and when one drive failed I lost everything. What would be the best way to keep 3-4TB of data safe?Is there an easy backup method or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and buy 3 more 2TB drives so I can do a RAID 1+0 configuration? I know this is a good way to do this, but I am cringing at having 4TB of space that is basically there just for backup. It seems like a ton of space to waste.

My current hard drive has been getting wonky on me. About a month ago it came up with bad sectors. Replaced them with backup sectors. Nothing bad has happen since then, and I scan almost every day just in case. I am considering buying a new 1TB just because it will be newer, and faster. This disk is getting a lot of read/write errors and takes a while to do some stuff now.
My question is, does anyone know if it is possible to transfer your windows 7 partitions to a new drive directly without using a 3rd drive as a medium. The hard drive I am using is 750gb, and as I said, I am getting a 1TB. So does anyone know an easy way I can just plug in the new drive, use software to copy over Windows 7 to the new drive and it still work?
I know Windows 7 installed 2 partitions, so that is what is confusing me. Because I can not even see the other partition it uses.
PS: I have all my files backed up on 2 other drives. So don't worry about that.

i built myself a new computer recently and although it's not the first one i've ever built, i'm certainly no expert. i was getting lots of BSODs right from day 1, but when i swapped out the PSU for a larger one, everything seemed ok. but when i started copying all my stuff onto the hard drives i started getting BSODs again. whenever i transfer more than a few GB of data, either from one HDD to another, or from a DVD to a HDD, the computer bluescreens. a BSOD will happen out of the blue, even if im not actually doing anything, but transfering more than 4GB or so of data is guaranteed to give me a BSOD. i tried various diagnostics like memtest86 but everything comes up fine. but when i swapped the system drive for a different hdd with linux, transfering data works fine. so i'm fairly certain it's either some element of windows or the ssd that windows is installed on.
