View 5 Replies View Relatedinstalled a 60GB SSD a couple of years ago when they were quite expensive. I planned to use it solely for the operating system (Windows 7 Ultimate x 64). However over the years, it has become full to overflowing. I would like to clean it up and return it to the operating system only. Unfortunately I do not have the original disks or access to the installation programs for most of the information on the SSD. I have two other hard drives in the system - a 500GB Velociraptor that I originally wanted to hold all the programs and a 1000GB for the data. Can anyone tell me the best way to transfer the data off the SSD without screwing up my system?

So what is the best way to do that. After, do I need to do special thing to make sure that all the references will be followed to the new files positions, IE when accessing them via my task manager

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy power supply on my old comp died, so it was time to upgrade computers, I went from running windows XP to windows 7 now. I saved my old "previously upgraded" 320g wd internal drive to recover the data to my new machine. I got an external drive enclosure, installed everything but windows is telling me I don't have "access" to the drive. When I go into disk management, it sees the drive but it's not initialized, nor will it let me initialize it when I try.

I have a desktop with W.7. Ultimate - connected to Internet by WIFI - and I have just bought a laptop, which has W.7 Home Premium, to use when away from home.I have just returned and would like to transfer data from the laptop to the desktop. I do not seem to be able to do so.I could obtain a memory stick and transfer via that, but I was wondering if I could obtain a cable (USB) that I could use.I have a second HD inside my tower from my last Computer .- which contains my music collection - and I can access that through the Start button/Computer. I do not have a cable with a USB connection at each end - only an extension USB cable for my reception of WIFI which is an ordinary USB for the computer and a larger size to connect the radio receiver.

problem either stopped on the usb data transfer from windows 7 PC to a usb HDD or flash drive; or crashed and give errors. However, i dont encount this sreious problem but rather annoying problem.
As soon as i use my Windows 7 PC to copy a file to usb stick, the process is all ok, but when i read the file, it seems to be corrupted, example, if i have put a avi file in the usb drive, it will play as skipped.
I have updated the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972 but still doesnt fix my problem. I have updated the chipset driver from nvidia web site, still no help.
I know for sure that problem occured after i fresh installed to windows 7 from xp pro. I have also tried to uninstall the usb root hub but still give me the same driver as it was.

My SSD is in perfect working order and everything is blazing fast, but for some reason I only get a 5.9 for a rating. I am using the Intel X25-V SSD. I get the advertised speeds across the board when I benchmark it so I don't know what is pulling down my ratingOthers are getting higher ratings with the same exact drive, and the drive itself is functioning perfectly and I am getting the proper speeds from it, so maybe it has something to do with W7 settings?Mobo: ASUS M4A77TDRam: 4GB Gskill DDR 1600 (7.5)CPU: BFG Geforce GTS-250 (7.0)Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad-core Black Edition 3.2 GHz (7.3)HDD: X25-V (5.9)OS: Windows 7-Pro
