View 4 RepliesHere are steps on "How to Install your Windows7 onto your com without using any external device like OS DVD, Repair Disc, USB devices (External HDD, USB drive like flash drive/pen drive)Introduction:If tomorrow something goes wrong or an application screw up your system then what do you do??? Try to restore it but if you can't log into your OS through normal way or "last good configuration" doesn't work then what you might try Hitting/Pressing F8 & select Safe Mode to see if you can restore but still if issue not resolve then last resort re-install OS but if you don't have any of the above mentioned device then how to get OS installed again or let say you do have Recovery CD/DVD,external HDD but what if your ODD (DVD drive/Optical Disk Drive) not working & you don't have a USB on your old com then how to get this right without losing your Valuable data????Note: This will work if you have the Winodws7 setup folder copied onto your HDD. As i do, so, for me an external device is never required to do the re-installation of Windows 7 again. Also this has been tested & tried only on Windows 7 & not on any other version of Windows OS.
Here's How:Step 1:Restart your com & keep hitting/pressing F8 to go to Advanced Boot Options screen. Now select click Safe Mode. Attachment 102982Step 2: log in now in your windows7 as an Admin but in Safe Mode ie minimum & essentials drivers will be installed. Attachment 102989Step 3:Go to ComputerC:Windows7setup & click Set Up file & Run As Administrator.Install windows 7 the way you always do; select the default drive for your Windows7 & follow the instruction to complete the installation.(here are screenshots of the step by step installation process involved)1. Go to ComputerC:Windows7setup & do a right click on Set Up file & Run As Administrator: Attachment 1032372. You get the Windows 7 installation window with edition name & its version: Attachment 1029953. Then next window is for "Install Windows" you can select the type of installation you want to do: Attachment 1029964. I selected "custom (advanced)" option & then you get "setup window" to enter your valid & authenticated "product key" to register your Windows version OS: Attachment 102998
So far we've seen tutorials for installing Windows 7 in quite a few different ways. All of them require boot media like a DVD, USB key or a Network.
With This You Will Be Able To Install Windows 7 as soon as you download the ISO and Extracting It.
It can be used for both a Fresh Install or Updating to a new build.
When To Use This Method:
You Dont Want To Waste Another DVD.
You Dont Have a USB Hardisk.
You Dont Have a USB Pendrive.
You Dont Know How to Boot Windows 7 using the PXE Network Option.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI connect an external device that supports USB3.0 to an USB3.0 port on the computer/mother board using an USB 3.0 cable. I can see in the device manager that there are (intel) drivers that support USB3.0. The external device (WD mypassport) advertises USB 3.0 support. Is there a way to find out in windows 7 (home premium) if the actual usb connection is really using USB3.0 or if it is falling back into USB2? Is the transmission speed in the USB connection the only hint about what is happening in the USB connection. That is, a higher speed means that USB 3.0 is really being used?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently took out my laptop HDD and formatted it, NTFS format, and stored stuff on it. Now when I place that in an enclosure and want to use it as an external HDD drive, it doesn't pick up the device. Through Diskpart I am able to give the drive a letter and access it, but when I "Safely" remove device, the Drive letters remain....
- Do I need to do anything special to make the Device a Plug and Play?
- How do I remove the Drive Letters that I assigned through Diskpart from "My Computer"?
I have a LaCie external hard drive which works fine on other pc's running Windows 7 Ultimate, but on this one it is an "unknown device". I have tried it in different ports but with the same result. I've checked with Windows Compatability and the exact model is listed there as being compatible. I've been to the manufacturer's website but there are no drivers available.I have the same problem with any USB device I plug into any port. I have tried a complete Windows re-install from a different CD but it made no difference. The only USB devices that work are the keyboard and mouse.I have given the LaCie HD as an example because I am hoping that if I can get a specific device to work, I may be able to solve the problem with others.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst I want to say that the drive works without problems at the correct speed. The problems come upon disconnect. I also want to to stress that USB 2.0 discs are working flawlessly. If I use safe eject and the look in the device manager I get an error 47 saying that it has been shut down but not disconnected, it also says I can rectify it by disconnecting and reconnecting but this does not work. If I do so the drive will not be recognized. The enclosure has a power switch. After a safe eject I have tried both pulling the USB cable while power is still on and also going the other way by first shutting the power down. In both cases the error 47 shows in device manager. When this happens the CPU load goes up to about 20% and stays that way when it before was around 0 at idle. If I reboot the drive reconnects and I have no problem with it unless I try to safely eject it again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 Tera HDD. (WD My Book Essential (USB 3.0)). Last night I uninstalled a software which I do not remember its name by mistake. Apparently it was related to my WD hard drive for my computer does not recognize it anymore. I checked my device manager; "Base System Device" is not recognized. I ran windows troubleshooting. It says "Base System Device" Driver is not found. I searched a lot, but I couldn't find the driver. I also ran drive checker software.
It says:
Device name: JMB38X SD/MMC Host Controller
File name: MSI_GX633_Card For Windows 7.zip
Hardware ID: PCIVEN_197B&DEV_2382
I could not find this too. I also have another portable WD which is still recognized by my computer.
I'm running Windows 7 Home N SP1 x64. I'm using an M-Audio Fast-Track Pro device to record audio into a music sequencer (Cubase 5), through a Shure SM58 Microphone. The M-Audio box is connected to the computer via USB. I've been using this set-up for about a year now and it hadn't caused me any problems until the last few weeks. For some reason Windows is not registering any signal from the input of the M-Audio box. The box itself picks up the sound and I can hear tapping on the microphone when M-Audio is selected as the output device, but not from the built-in speakers.
I first noticed the problem in the software (and thought for the longest time that it was the software). I'm very competent with Cubase and tried everything I could think of to get it to register with no avail. It was only when I tried to use the device on another sequencer that I realised that it's not the software. Then, since the mic works fine, the box itself is picking up the signal and out-putting it through itself, it must be something wrong with the computer or the OS.
I've re-installed the M-Audio driver, didn't make any difference. I've set the M-Audio as default in both playback and recording tabs in the sound control panel. Playback works fine. One thing that's really strange is that when I open manage sound drivers in the control panel and tap on the mic, neither the levels in recording nor playback even flutter, even though I can hear it pretty clearly through the headphones.
Every time i plug my external storage device to my computer, i am asked to "you need to format the disk in drive F: Before you can use it. Do you want to format it?" I checked my drive and its File system is RAW. I don't want format it because all my important data are in it.

Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.
Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
