Jan 16, 2013My computer ended up with the malicious toolbar iminent. After multiple attempts to remove it I decided to reformat the computer, since my last backup is mercifully recent. However, when I attempted to run a repair disc, but in the middle of this I received the message in the thread's title. What's wrong? Is the repair disc something other than the disc I need? While writing this via my phone I'm currently trying an alternative of restoring my computer from a system image on my backup drive, I don't know if that will solve the problem. But even if it does, I think I should still try to find out what went wrong here for when something goes wrong in the future.

Mar 6, 2012my computer is an HP envy 14 that came preinstalled with windows 7 x64. I was negligent enough to forget to make a reinstall disk, which the computer came without. I dual booted linux on my computer, and for some reason that stopped my windows from booting. So, I used the reinstall disk from my kind sister's computer (a Dell latitude E6140) and set about going from there. It was 32bit, but it worked fine for a few months, but then windows said that my software wasn't genuine, which i know it is. I looked through all of the forums i frequent, but nothing came up that helped. I've tried sfc /scannow, a simple chkdsk, more reboots than I can count, updated my bios, checked my drivers, and finally used some program called Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (1.9.0027.0) This is what it gave me:

I want to use my upgrade disk but MS Canada Support told me that the upgrade key on my disk is NOT able to upgrade from Home Premium - only Vista. Jul 20, 2011We have our Server running Windows Server 2003. We have 2 other desktop computers running XP and a laptop also running XP connected. We replaced one of the XP computers with a brand new Windows 7 computer. I am connected to the LAN just fine and when you click on "get online," it's says that there's a working connection but when I try to load ANY page I get the "page cannot load" error. Yesterday, the issue was intermittent but today I have been unable to get online at all. I've tried restarting the server and the new computer as well as the router. I've also tried disabling and enabling the LAN. I also tried a "repair winsock" option I found on the forums. All other computers running through the server are working fine so I know it's not the ISP. We didn't change the router so I know it can handle the number of computers we have.

And I ran a Code: chkdsk c: /f /r followed by a Code: Bootrec /RebuildBcd , where it asked me, if I want to add the entry to the BCD store, and of course I answered yes Afterwards I rebooted the computer, but it came up with a blank screen. I then tried to restart the computer and it keeps coming up with a blank screen. I tried to repair using the Windows 7 - cd's repair, but with no succes. It found the Windows 7 Home Professionel, but when I tried to repair it, it says, that it could not find the OS (something like noOSInstalled). I then came into cmd again, and tried first with Code: BootRec , but it could not find the OS.Now I set it to run Code: chkdsk over the night, but what can I do, if I comes up with the blank screen again? Do I have to reinstall the computer, or are there other solutions?

Oct 25, 2009My company just purchased a new Compaq tower yesterday that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, but the network is still XP pro and so IT used their volume license to format/reinstall the system.
I spoke with my boss and he approved me to take the 7 Home Premium license key for my home Compaq laptop because by the time they upgrade to 7 they would use volume licensing for pro anyway, but then when I spoke with IT he said that the system didn't come with any media.
Is there any way to get Windows 7 Home Premium Media, or to use the system recovery partition from the desktop to create media that I could then use to perform a fresh install of Windows 7 on my home computer? And is it even legal to do so?
