Jul 13, 2011I currently have Windows Home Premium 64-bit and seems to be working quite well.However, when I tried to connect my Iomega eGo external HDD to *every single USB port I have on the computer* the computer would "see" the HDD but not register as a HDD that I can access.It will not show up in My Computer at all. The HDD has music files on it from a different computer, so it's not empty.When I go to look at the USB connections, it shows up as a USB Mass Storage device, but again, I cannot actually get INTO my HDD.As a side note, when I look at computer management, my external HDD shows up as Disk1. Perhaps I need to allocate a letter to it? How can I do that without erasing the data stored on it already?

Jun 14, 2012I am trying to fix a iOmega harddrive for a friend and the issue that he has is that the iOmega is not being recognized by his computer. The device has power, the disk is spinning and the led is on and stays constant, no flashing or anything. I have tried to see if the device was in Device Manager but it is not. The device is not being recognized by Windows 7 at all. No beeping noises when I plug it in or anything. I have tried multiple USB ports as well as other computers. The device just isn't being recognized.

Aug 17, 2009I have a problem I hope someone can help with. I have an Iomega Prestige 1Tb USB HDD which is working fine. I have however just insstalled Windows 7 RC on an old PC to try it out. The installation went fine and I connected the USB HDD and copied over a number of files to help further set it up to meet my requirements with no problem.
I then installed drivers for my Speedtouch 330 USB Modem and now the USB HDD is not working. I have tried uninstalling the Modem Driver and uninstalling the USB HD Driver and then reconnecting but with no success. I continue to get a Windows 7 error message. The USB HDD is still working perfectly on my XP laptop.
I hope someone can suggest a solution before I try a complete Windows 7 reinstall?
Iomega Zip Or Jazz Drive

I work in graphics and ocassionally have to pull info from one of these formats.
Looking at the Iomega site lists support for XP. . . no mention of any x64 platforms or even Vista.
I'm just trying to figure out how far to go in efforts of backwards compatability . . . at least I'm not looking to integrate a Bernoulli Drive.
500GB Iomega HDD Problem
Dec 1, 2009I have Windows 7 64 bits in a DELL Laptop Latitude E4300 working fine (more or less). I just plugged into it a USB HD from iomega with 500 GB capacity. I can see this disk without problems in all my XP (32 bits) based systems. But not on Windows 7. When I try to open it I get the error message:
Cannot access F:
The archive is damaged or inaccessible
I know the disk is fine. I have in this very same computer vmware installed with Ubuntu 64 bits where I can mount the HD and see it without problem (?) but not in the host Windows 7 system. I saw a driver installation message the first time I plugged into the laptop on Windows 7 but clearly, this was incorrect.
Should I uninstall the driver and get it from somewhere else other than the default place (which did not seem to work well)?
Iomega StorCenter Software Not Working
Sep 29, 2009Network storage drive that had loads of stuff on died, though we backups on a another networks drive and finally managed to get it onto a new Iomega drive.
However, the software for getting to the drive is basically a gloryfied web page. It can find the drive fine, and the folders, but cannot connect to the folders. It says "A problem occurred when trying to connect to the folder "Public"".
Tried running as admin, did nothing, then tried compatibility mode which it didn't run at all in. IE doesn't help either. However, XP can run it just fine, and can find the drives fine. But 7 can't!
Iomega Portable Hard Drive Not Recognized?
Apr 7, 2011I have an Iomega portable hard drive, which is compatible with windows 7, however, when running the Iomega Encryption Utility using the reconfiguration option to set a password for the hard drive, it told me you must format this drive before use, anyways, my windows 7 doesnt recognise it anywhere! yet before the encryption ran it did! in disk management it only shows my C drive, the Iomega showed up in my computer as a G drive but it doesnt now. Its like the computer cant see the hard drive! I read about formatting the disk but it wont give me that option when the device is plugged in.

Mar 21, 2011i am running Windows 7 sp1, amd quad core, 6 gigs of ram. A couple of months ago, after either rebooting or logging back in, my computer began popups saying that various programs have stopped working. For instance: "Iomega automatic backup has stopped working". In a box under it: "Check online for a solution and close the program". And in another box: "Close the program". Other programs that quit working at the same time: Mesh operating environment, Adobe reader, Adobe acrobat, IE, Cyberlink, and one or two others that don't come to mind right now. Allmost all the other programs on my computer won't open and give the same popup. My virus program, Avast opens easily, but thats about it. I can open some programs by going to their file location, changing its compatability to Vista and then opening as admin. Threatfire on the other hand won't open unless I change its compatability to windows 7. Anyway, did virus check, ran threatfire, and some other things I can't remember right now. If I restore to an earlier period my computer works OK. That is until I log out/in or reboot. Then it goes back to its screwed up self. I'm reluctant to re-install windows as I have a finance/check writing program I use for my business that is a bear to re-install and get all the files in their proper place.

I only noticed the error when trying to activate windows and, of course, as the laptop is Home Edn, and I used an Ultimate disc it didn't take the key on the laptop. So I have now installed Home edition and have the Windows.old folder present. I basically need to put all the programs and file/folders etc into the new OS.

Apr 22, 2011MS and their mail systems are giving me grief. I have a Vista 32 PC using "Windows Mail" and want to transfer email folders (lots) and messages to Windows 7 using Windows Live Mail 2011.Windows Mail was a replacement for Outlook express on Vista.Windows Live Mail 2011 is a replacement for Windows Mail on Windows 7.I tried a couple of things.
1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer.
- Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully,
- imported the Contact info successfully.
- Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful
Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)
2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost. Looking for alternative or third party transfer solutions?
Windows 7 Hangs On "Starting Windows" After Finished Expanding Windows
Jul 17, 2012I just bought myself some new parts for a new computer I built. After buying the parts and assembling it I tried to install windows 7, keeping in mind that this computer has no previous os installed in it, completely blank. I somehow managed to get to safe mode and install till the part where it says expanding windows files completing that step fully and rebooting to continue the installation, I have no idea why but after when it restarts, it freezes at the "starting windows" screen with the four orb animation. It should just go to the next screen with the blue wallpaper asking me for the language I would like and what not. But it just gets stuck there and doesn't move on, I tried
rebooting
removing as much devices I had plugged into the motherboard
removing everything but the mouse and key board
removing the graphics card
removing one of the two sticks of ram

I have tried everything I know of and I don't think I need to update my bios because no one else has encountered this problem. Swell I am not very good with computers I am very new to this so...I also heard about updating drivers , but don't u need to actually be able to login to your computer to download and install them? I can't even log in, I wait for the windows logo to pass but it never does please help Tom Hardware community.
Add Another Windows 7 To Windows XP/ Windows 7 Dual Boot?
Apr 8, 2011I bought a new computer that came with a Win 7 HP license, however I already have a copy of Win 7 Ultimate on another smaller HDD that dual boots with XP.I have copied the Win 7 HP partition to the smaller HDD that has dual boot Win 7 Ultimate / XP using EASUS Partition Manager. Then I disk copied the smaller HDD to the new larger HDD thus wiping the original contents of the HDD.So far so good, the larger HDD now has C: Windows 7 Ultimate; D: XP Pro; E: Windows 7 HP. Of course the boot manager only has entries for the C: and D: partition.I think I can use bcdedit to add another entry but I am a little confused about how to do this, I've seen examples for Win 7 and XP or Vista but not for 2 copies of Win 7. Can anyone tell me what bcdedit commands I need to run? For instance I could run "bcdedit /create {} /d "Win 7 HP" but I don't know what to put inside of the {}, I think I need a new UUID but I don't know if I should be running "bcdedit /createstore" first or something else.

May 2, 2012Yesterday i wanted to change my OS to windows 7 64bits (I had windows 7 32bits before and worked just fine). The installation goes well but when windows install tries to reboot to complete the installation it hangs on "windows start" and reboot again and again. I tried several solutions such as
- Install using a different cd (3 different cds and same problem)
- Install from USB flash (not even working)
- Fix boot system (from command prompt using windows repair cd)
- Re-install windows 32 bits (same problem)
- boot in Safe mode (same problem it reboots again and again)
- Windows system repair (from cd)
PS:I have a Dell inspiron M 560 (Core 2 Quad, 4Go in RAM).
