My Iomega Home Storage NAS is suddenly not accessable. It is formatted in Linux (I believe). Can I in any way connect it via USB as an external HDD and save my files? My computer has Windows 7 64b. If I try to connect the drive via USB, I cannot see it in "My computer" but it is present in Diskmanager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI began having BSOD's on my PC, after a significant amount of work, I made the decision to repair the files through Windows 7 with the option to retain my files and setting vs. a clean install. I subsequently realized that the problem that was likely causing the BSOD was an incorrectly seated video card (I currently have two GTX-295's).That being said, with the reinstall the original administrator's account is no longer accessible. I've got the folder on the C: drive where I'd hope to be able to reactivate it and therefore retain all the previously installed programs rather than having to reinstall everything.Any thoughts on how I might be able to get the current version of Windows 7 to "see" this User Account and as such avoid the reinstall of everything?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to replace my hard drive in my computer and did so, re-installing all of the necessary drives and components, and when attempting to create a homegroup using the new "computer" (old tower with the new 2TB drive and reinstalled windows, etc) it is telling me that the old "computer" (the drive that crashed) has the password for the homegroup, but OBVIOUSLY I cannot access that "computer" because the drive crashed. How do I delete the homegroup that was created by the dead and therefore inaccessible computer and create a new one with the new computer?

Read far enough and you'll see that I solved that problem using Networking issue - Win7 printer, XP remote machines.Fast forward 13 or so months. Since that time I have replaced the printer, I've had a motherboard and processor issue with my box (since fixed), and no interruption of things working as they should. My printer - Canon ip4800 series - is USB hardwired to my Windows 7 computer, and the other home computers - two Windows 7 laptops, an XP box, and an XP netbook - can print to the printer, and view files on my Windows 7 machine, over our wireless home network. And that's been constant through the changes described.
Then yesterday, for no known reason, my daughter's Windows 7 laptop stopped being able to print. She'd send jobs to the correct printer, but they'd just queue up, with the queue visible from her machine, but not when I looked at the printer from my machine (that is looking at the print queue from her machine shows the jobs, but looking at it from mine shows no jobs).Nothing I did would result in stuff from her machine, from any application, to go to the printer.I finally deleted the printer from her machine, figuring I'd just add it back.I try adding a printer to the laptop, it doesn't find the printer on the list of available printers. When I try adding it by typing the name - \mywin7canon ip4800 series - that fails.When I look at "network" from her laptop, my computer shows up, but if I click on it, Windows says it can't connect.
When I type ping her_computer from a DOS box, it can't find it - but when I type ping any_other_computer it finds those.Her laptop can get on the internet from our home wireless network. But there is no removable storage devise eject button on notification area. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem I hope someone can help with. I have an Iomega Prestige 1Tb USB HDD which is working fine. I have however just insstalled Windows 7 RC on an old PC to try it out. The installation went fine and I connected the USB HDD and copied over a number of files to help further set it up to meet my requirements with no problem.
I then installed drivers for my Speedtouch 330 USB Modem and now the USB HDD is not working. I have tried uninstalling the Modem Driver and uninstalling the USB HD Driver and then reconnecting but with no success. I continue to get a Windows 7 error message. The USB HDD is still working perfectly on my XP laptop.
I hope someone can suggest a solution before I try a complete Windows 7 reinstall?

I have Windows 7 64 bits in a DELL Laptop Latitude E4300 working fine (more or less). I just plugged into it a USB HD from iomega with 500 GB capacity. I can see this disk without problems in all my XP (32 bits) based systems. But not on Windows 7. When I try to open it I get the error message:
Cannot access F:
The archive is damaged or inaccessible
I know the disk is fine. I have in this very same computer vmware installed with Ubuntu 64 bits where I can mount the HD and see it without problem (?) but not in the host Windows 7 system. I saw a driver installation message the first time I plugged into the laptop on Windows 7 but clearly, this was incorrect.
Should I uninstall the driver and get it from somewhere else other than the default place (which did not seem to work well)?
I currently have Windows Home Premium 64-bit and seems to be working quite well.However, when I tried to connect my Iomega eGo external HDD to *every single USB port I have on the computer* the computer would "see" the HDD but not register as a HDD that I can access.It will not show up in My Computer at all. The HDD has music files on it from a different computer, so it's not empty.When I go to look at the USB connections, it shows up as a USB Mass Storage device, but again, I cannot actually get INTO my HDD.As a side note, when I look at computer management, my external HDD shows up as Disk1. Perhaps I need to allocate a letter to it? How can I do that without erasing the data stored on it already?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNetwork storage drive that had loads of stuff on died, though we backups on a another networks drive and finally managed to get it onto a new Iomega drive.
However, the software for getting to the drive is basically a gloryfied web page. It can find the drive fine, and the folders, but cannot connect to the folders. It says "A problem occurred when trying to connect to the folder "Public"".
Tried running as admin, did nothing, then tried compatibility mode which it didn't run at all in. IE doesn't help either. However, XP can run it just fine, and can find the drives fine. But 7 can't!
I have an Iomega portable hard drive, which is compatible with windows 7, however, when running the Iomega Encryption Utility using the reconfiguration option to set a password for the hard drive, it told me you must format this drive before use, anyways, my windows 7 doesnt recognise it anywhere! yet before the encryption ran it did! in disk management it only shows my C drive, the Iomega showed up in my computer as a G drive but it doesnt now. Its like the computer cant see the hard drive! I read about formatting the disk but it wont give me that option when the device is plugged in.

The device has power, the disk is spinning and the led is on and stays constant, no flashing or anything. I have tried to see if the device was in Device Manager but it is not. View 1 Replies View Relatedi am running Windows 7 sp1, amd quad core, 6 gigs of ram. A couple of months ago, after either rebooting or logging back in, my computer began popups saying that various programs have stopped working. For instance: "Iomega automatic backup has stopped working". In a box under it: "Check online for a solution and close the program". And in another box: "Close the program". Other programs that quit working at the same time: Mesh operating environment, Adobe reader, Adobe acrobat, IE, Cyberlink, and one or two others that don't come to mind right now. Allmost all the other programs on my computer won't open and give the same popup. My virus program, Avast opens easily, but thats about it. I can open some programs by going to their file location, changing its compatability to Vista and then opening as admin. Threatfire on the other hand won't open unless I change its compatability to windows 7. Anyway, did virus check, ran threatfire, and some other things I can't remember right now. If I restore to an earlier period my computer works OK. That is until I log out/in or reboot. Then it goes back to its screwed up self. I'm reluctant to re-install windows as I have a finance/check writing program I use for my business that is a bear to re-install and get all the files in their proper place.

View 1 Replies View Relatedcannot access external HDDs connected via USB. The Device Manager shows a device. Under "Properties, Volume, polulate" it shows a zero capacity however. There is no letter (in "my computer") assigned to any drive I connect. Diskmanager does show it but as "not initialised". The attempt to initialise it returns "not ready".
PS: ALL HDDs do show in Kubuntu. So I'd exclude a hardware problem. HDDs are formatted in journalised ext3/4 as well as NTFS/FAT32. Should at least show FAT32/NTFS drives and partitions, shouldn't it?
