Iomega Home Storage NAS No Longer Accessible
Aug 21, 2011My Iomega Home Storage NAS is suddenly not accessable. It is formatted in Linux (I believe). Can I in any way connect it via USB as an external HDD and save my files? My computer has Windows 7 64b. If I try to connect the drive via USB, I cannot see it in "My computer" but it is present in Diskmanager.

Aug 17, 2009I have a problem I hope someone can help with. I have an Iomega Prestige 1Tb USB HDD which is working fine. I have however just insstalled Windows 7 RC on an old PC to try it out. The installation went fine and I connected the USB HDD and copied over a number of files to help further set it up to meet my requirements with no problem.
I then installed drivers for my Speedtouch 330 USB Modem and now the USB HDD is not working. I have tried uninstalling the Modem Driver and uninstalling the USB HD Driver and then reconnecting but with no success. I continue to get a Windows 7 error message. The USB HDD is still working perfectly on my XP laptop.
I hope someone can suggest a solution before I try a complete Windows 7 reinstall?

Looking at the Iomega site lists support for XP. . . no mention of any x64 platforms or even Vista.
I'm just trying to figure out how far to go in efforts of backwards compatability . . . at least I'm not looking to integrate a Bernoulli Drive.
500GB Iomega HDD Problem
Dec 1, 2009I have Windows 7 64 bits in a DELL Laptop Latitude E4300 working fine (more or less). I just plugged into it a USB HD from iomega with 500 GB capacity. I can see this disk without problems in all my XP (32 bits) based systems. But not on Windows 7. When I try to open it I get the error message:
Cannot access F:
The archive is damaged or inaccessible
I know the disk is fine. I have in this very same computer vmware installed with Ubuntu 64 bits where I can mount the HD and see it without problem (?) but not in the host Windows 7 system. I saw a driver installation message the first time I plugged into the laptop on Windows 7 but clearly, this was incorrect.
Should I uninstall the driver and get it from somewhere else other than the default place (which did not seem to work well)?
Windows 7 Will Not Let Access Iomega External HDD?
Jul 13, 2011I currently have Windows Home Premium 64-bit and seems to be working quite well.However, when I tried to connect my Iomega eGo external HDD to *every single USB port I have on the computer* the computer would "see" the HDD but not register as a HDD that I can access.It will not show up in My Computer at all. The HDD has music files on it from a different computer, so it's not empty.When I go to look at the USB connections, it shows up as a USB Mass Storage device, but again, I cannot actually get INTO my HDD.As a side note, when I look at computer management, my external HDD shows up as Disk1. Perhaps I need to allocate a letter to it? How can I do that without erasing the data stored on it already?

Sep 29, 2009Network storage drive that had loads of stuff on died, though we backups on a another networks drive and finally managed to get it onto a new Iomega drive.
However, the software for getting to the drive is basically a gloryfied web page. It can find the drive fine, and the folders, but cannot connect to the folders. It says "A problem occurred when trying to connect to the folder "Public"".
Tried running as admin, did nothing, then tried compatibility mode which it didn't run at all in. IE doesn't help either. However, XP can run it just fine, and can find the drives fine. But 7 can't!
Iomega Portable Hard Drive Not Recognized?
Apr 7, 2011I have an Iomega portable hard drive, which is compatible with windows 7, however, when running the Iomega Encryption Utility using the reconfiguration option to set a password for the hard drive, it told me you must format this drive before use, anyways, my windows 7 doesnt recognise it anywhere! yet before the encryption ran it did! in disk management it only shows my C drive, the Iomega showed up in my computer as a G drive but it doesnt now. Its like the computer cant see the hard drive! I read about formatting the disk but it wont give me that option when the device is plugged in.

The device has power, the disk is spinning and the led is on and stays constant, no flashing or anything. I have tried to see if the device was in Device Manager but it is not. Mar 21, 2011i am running Windows 7 sp1, amd quad core, 6 gigs of ram. A couple of months ago, after either rebooting or logging back in, my computer began popups saying that various programs have stopped working. For instance: "Iomega automatic backup has stopped working". In a box under it: "Check online for a solution and close the program". And in another box: "Close the program". Other programs that quit working at the same time: Mesh operating environment, Adobe reader, Adobe acrobat, IE, Cyberlink, and one or two others that don't come to mind right now. Allmost all the other programs on my computer won't open and give the same popup. My virus program, Avast opens easily, but thats about it. I can open some programs by going to their file location, changing its compatability to Vista and then opening as admin. Threatfire on the other hand won't open unless I change its compatability to windows 7. Anyway, did virus check, ran threatfire, and some other things I can't remember right now. If I restore to an earlier period my computer works OK. That is until I log out/in or reboot. Then it goes back to its screwed up self. I'm reluctant to re-install windows as I have a finance/check writing program I use for my business that is a bear to re-install and get all the files in their proper place.

The volume does not contain a recognized file system. make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.
If i click format it says

Oct 2, 2012cannot access external HDDs connected via USB. The Device Manager shows a device. Under "Properties, Volume, polulate" it shows a zero capacity however. There is no letter (in "my computer") assigned to any drive I connect. Diskmanager does show it but as "not initialised". The attempt to initialise it returns "not ready".
PS: ALL HDDs do show in Kubuntu. So I'd exclude a hardware problem. HDDs are formatted in journalised ext3/4 as well as NTFS/FAT32. Should at least show FAT32/NTFS drives and partitions, shouldn't it?

G: Is Not Accessible On Accessing MP3 Player
Sep 30, 2012Here is what is going on. I plug in the MP3 player, does not matter which port, and when I go to "My Computer" to click on the drive to get the music files it comes up with error message "G: is not accessible. Access denied."
I have tried going to properties and configuring security options, but there is nothing with "security" or related to that. I am already logged in as Admin, there is also no "run as admin" either.

May 2, 2011I got pop up in utorrent says a directoy is corrupt, I start to run chkdsk on that drive. in this case in have drive letter E.I click on computer, then go to the drive, right click, properties, tools, check now.
it says the drive is need to to forced to dismount. I click on ok. then in computers, the drive just show the letter, not size or disk meter. In the open windows on task bar, I did not see scan disk running, or maybe I accidently closed because I was switching between several programs. I thought restart pc the drive will show again, but after restart, the drive does not show up, it says 'E: is not accessible, the file or directory is corrupted and unreadabe.' I tried to start pc 2 times, still same.
