View 1 Replies View Related1) I have a PC running Win7 with 3 HDs(not partition, different HDs).
2) I used Win7 to create an image of the OS HD( C: ) and placed it in D.
3) I used the image once or twice so I know it's a god image, and it's not corrupted.
4) Lately I've been having performence/computer-gets-stuck-issues and I suspected the HD( C: ) because my RAM is fine, and finally windows alreted my that that HD is failing.(plus, I can hear "ticks" of the HD's nittle trying to read whenever the computer got frozen for a sec or two.
5) I replaced the HD that was C: with a new one, and installed Win7 again.
6) Tried to restore using the image and the recorery system said that it needs to format the drive that it's on(makes sense) and ordered me to perform the restore through the windows installation disk,
7)I did. but I get a similiar error that ordered me to restore with an image but using a windows installation disk(and I got to this error using the instllation disk) How can I make the image work?the only problem I can see is that the image was taken off a a different HD than the on I'm trying to restore the image to,but still that's not a good reason for it not to work.
We have 20 pcs that are all identicle
Asus P8z68 v Gen3 mboard
i7 2700k 3.4 proc
win 7 64 Ent
2 x 1tb hdd raid 0
1 x OCZ Vertex 3 SSD for caching
4 x 4gb corsair vengance ddr3 ram
Geforce 560ti phantom GFx card
Corsaid 850 psu
We have created a network image using Acronis which has so far been successfully installed on 4 of these machines. However, we have come to the 5th machine and as of last night it refused to power on. Then after 10-15 mins it came up and started to load windows but gave us a BSOD and everytime it restarted itself it would give us a different message. I have attached the logs for someone to look at to see if this is possibly a PSU issue or something else.
The machines have:
Windows 7 enterprise
office 2010
adobe reader x
silverlight
IE 9
Firefox
McAfee
Visio Viewer
This may be difficult to troubleshoot because I have very few details about the computer in question. A friend called me because I am fairly good with basic computer problems. I'm not sure of the hardware specs, but it's a 2010 or 2011 model PC with Windows 7 installed. They did a Windows Update, and let it update just fine - they did not restart or shut down at all during the update. Once the update completed however, they can't open anything up.
Every time they try opening a program, they get an error message. Also, he mentioned that at first after the update, it wouldn't even boot up. He would get a message saying that he needs to restore to system defaults. Somehow, they got the computer to boot but it wont open any programs. How do you reset a Windows 7 computer to factory settings?
My computer runs like grease lightning in safe mode, and my internet speeds are marvellous also, but alas when not in safe mode I have on quite a few occasions lately had my Windows freeze, my Windows Live Mail also freeze. I will define freeze, everything just does not work, my browser Firefox/Google, none of my loaded programs.
I have to leave the computer for about 10 minutes, and then it is perfect all day!, so I am guessing a program is causing the dilemma, but which one? I have about 60 applications running and I haven't loaded a new one in about 6 months. Is there a program I can purchase/download that would seek out the rogue program if indeed it is a rogue program.
I have a mid 2010 iMac 27" 3.2Ghz i3 4GB ram 1TB hard drive space ATI HD4870.Running windows 7 x64 and OS X 10.6.6..I am using a wireless internet source from nearby, and the connection works great on OS X when I boot into windows the internet is completely un-responisive and when it does work its slower then glass (for those of you who don't know glass is technically a liquid)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from XP to Win7. Most things worked fine, except for the internet. At first the "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" didn't work. But I found a driver for that one. Now there are just two things left: the "PCI Simple Communications-controller" does not work and the "Intel H5 Express chipset LPC interface controller - 3B06" isn't working either. I found these problems in the Device Manager.
View 4 Replies View Relatedso i finally decided to install Windows 7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates
on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)
so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing
tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)
the annoying this is...is that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all unplugged..in the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.
my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.
does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway
this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense
Since I installed Windows 7 on my Dell Precision M70 Laptop the Microphone does not seem to work? Speakers are ok since I downloaded a driver for windows Vista.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne day keyboards stopped functioning and it hasn't worked since. The problem is on a home built desktop computer and any and all types of keyboards. I've sat on this problem for a while since I also have a laptop and have used that for activities that require extensive typing and I can still use the onscreen keyboard to use the desktop. I wish I'd done a system restore when the problem was still fresh but I didn't think of that immediately, and it's been several months now since it started. Keyboards work fine in BIOS, but not in safe mode. All attempts at updating or reinstalling drivers have not resolved the issues. My last resort will be to reinstall Windows but I want to find an alternative fix before going there. Using Home Edition 64 bit...

It POSTs fine and starts windows. When the Patriot drive is plugged in during boot, the BIOS hangs 2/3rds of the way through POST.I have tried multiple formatting schemes. Also note that there is absolutely nothing on any of these drives, they are empty and freshly formatted.1gb formatted to FAT works, FAT32 works, exFAT works, all regardless of allocation size.2gb formatted to FAT works, FAT32 works, exFAT works, all regardless of allocation size.16gb formatted to FAT32 fails, exFAT fails, regardless of allocation size. have tried a full (non-quick) format to check for bad sectors, to no avail I have tried HP format tool rather than windows format tool, to no avail. So at this point I'm thinking it's the Dell BIOS at fault here, and I'm going to have to dualboot instead of making a multiboot drive.

I was able to use Skype, Ventrillo, World of Warcraft, etc. My AVG wasn't catching any problems, but the problem was happening. I would restart the computer and the browser would work fine for a little while, then stop.Following CNET's advise, I installed CCleaner and Malware Software and ran them.No problems detected.I found a similar forum here. I am pulling my hair out here as i just can not restore a windows 7 pro image backup to a 128gb SSD.
I have a Samsung f1 1tb drive which has a 48.7gb partition and a 882gig partition. The windows boot drive c is the 48.7gb Partition and the larger one is for storage.
I have used windows 7 pro image clone and make an image of the C: partition of the drive which is 45gb full and have stored it on a usb drive.
Now i have formatted the SSD drive as i have got windows 7 pro on there but there's far far to much work for me to get it back to the way it is on my Samsung drive.
I followed this guide
(URL)
now where it says
In the next screen just click on Next...there are no other partitions in this instance so we don't need to worry about excluding disks.
in the exclude menu i checked to see if the ssd was in there which it was and was unticked.
The restore process will begin. It might take a few hours to restore everything depending on the size of the image and how much data there is. Provided there are no errors and the process completes successfully, your system will restart and the system should be restored.
it says can not find a drive to put the image restore on ?
I have tried disk part and it shows that there are 2 hard drives there one ssd on a sata and the other on a usb with the image on there.
I can not for the life of me get it to put the image clone on the ssd drive.
am i doing something wrong can anyone help.
I have even tried to format the ssd and it still will not work
If I connect to my work VPN, then IE refuses to load any pages (inside the work network or outside). It doesn't even appear to try, just goes immediately to "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." I was able to connect to the computer with teamviewer remotely, name resolution worked properly, I was able to ping the web server etc. all fine, even brought the page up in FF and Chrome with no problems. I turned off all add-ins and restarted IE, same deal. If I disconnect from the VPN then IE works fine again. I was running IE9, I tried uninstalling it but having the same issue with IE8.

It shows I am receiving and sending packets but not very often. All my other computers on my network except my one PC, I thought maybe it was my integrated network card on the computer but it seems I am not the only one who has had this problem.
My friends PC restarts automatically no BOD or any error message that usually comes after the restarts.

I check to replace RAM but same thing. One more interesting thing is that it works fine in Safe mode. restarts time is random.
I have an Hp625 running Windows 7 Basic 32 bit - I can play music through my laptops built in speakers without any problems, but when I plug headphones (or external computer speakers) into the headphone jack no sound comes through them (and simultaneously the laptop speakers go mute). My computer is dual boot with ubuntu, and this problem appeared when I upgraded my Ubuntu version - still, I know that the jack works as it is working fine in Ubuntu, and Im sure the problem is fixable within windows!
My computer is using the IDT audio control panel, and according to windows everything us up to date and fine.
