I just recently upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate and I found that I was having multiple problems with the sound. I have solved the problem with my speakers/headphones after upgrading drivers (et al.), but my microphone is not being recognized. When I go to the Speaker Icon in the system tray and right-click to bring up the dialog then go to recording devices, what I get is this: No audio devices are installed. The playback dialog shows the correct information: High definition audio device. Default device.

I have just done a fresh install from vista to Windows 7 7100. All drivers are installed and working fine but I dont seem to be getting any sound out of my internal laptop speakers.
I plugged in headphones and they work fine, i never had a problem in Vista. I have install the latest Realtek 223 codecs and still no joy, I'm in the middle of trying some older versions but does anyone else have any ideas?

I have an Hp625 running Windows 7 Basic 32 bit - I can play music through my laptops built in speakers without any problems, but when I plug headphones (or external computer speakers) into the headphone jack no sound comes through them (and simultaneously the laptop speakers go mute). My computer is dual boot with ubuntu, and this problem appeared when I upgraded my Ubuntu version - still, I know that the jack works as it is working fine in Ubuntu, and Im sure the problem is fixable within windows!
My computer is using the IDT audio control panel, and according to windows everything us up to date and fine.

So my disk drive wasn't working so my husband installed a new driver, it fixed my disk drive, but now my mic (built in) stopped working. I really need it to work bc my husband has PCS-ed to Japan for 18 months, and skype is kind of out only option to talk.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500, running 32-bit Windows 7. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 a couple months ago, which I think is causing the issues I'm experiencing. According to whoever I'm speaking with, the sound for the microphone built in to my webcam fades in and out and gets really loud randomly. In an attempt to solve this, I bought an external microphone which also does not work. The sound driver is the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, version 6.10.0.5614. When I tried to update it through Windows 7's update driver software it says I have the best version for my system, but I still suspect that this could be what is causing the problem.

I'm trying to setup stereo mixer which is available and turned on, however generally when doing this the microphone is muted in speakers and you need to unmute that (I've done this for a lot of computers), but unfortunately for the current computer no slider exists for the microphone. I've tried registry fixes and using drivers straight off RealTek's site (instead of HP's, it's a HP p6110f) but nothing works.

A few days ago, after a restart of my PC, I didn't get any sound at all, and still don't get it. All my drivers are updated, realtek, motherboard drivers, graphic driver... I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling realtek driver and software. Windows media player is playing a song. In the "sound" menu (top left), the speakers (defined for realtek hd audio) are also working, the green bars go up and down.
In the device manager (down left) I have realtek driver, updated. and all nvidia drivers (as it always been, and also i checked another pc and has it too). Realtek manager works fine, recognize when I plug into the front or the rear jack (using the green one at the rear), everything seems ok. but (!) the "volume" menu (down right) doesn't have a green bar that goes up and down, and - I don't hear any sound at all...
tried connecting speakers to iphone - the speakers are fine, works well.

When I use my headset/mic for a teleconference, I can hear what others are saying in the call, but they cannot hear me. (I'm using Win 7/64-bit.)
When I use the same headset/mic on a computer running Win XP (sp3), everything works.
FYI, I purchased a second identical headset/mic, but I've gotten the same results with Win 7.

I have Dell Inspiron N4050 Laptop with Integrated Webcam and running Windows 7 Ultimate edition - 64 bit.I normally call using Gmail's Call phone service. I want to setup so that I can use Internal microphone in laptop to transmit my voice and hear the incoming call voice using external speakers.I normally keep external speakers connected to laptop for listening to music, but whenever I have to make a call, I have to remove the speaker cables and connect headphone cables in audio jack. So, I am looking up for solution to do make audio/video calls using external speakers and without needing to connect headphones to transmit my voice to caller.

when I plug my headphones into the rear jack of my computer (there is no front jack) the speaker portion works fine. It's the microphone that does not work. The computer has no problem detecting the microphone and it says that it is working properly. The mute on the headphone set is not turned on, nor any muting button on the computer. I have Windows 7 pro installed. I've have updated the Microsoft drivers and still did not work. I then tried the Realtek drivers and updated them as well with no success. The microphone work perfectly on my other computer that has 7 Premium on it. The motherboard is a new ASUS Rampage IV.

I recently switched from XP to Win7. Most things worked fine, except for the internet. At first the "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" didn't work. But I found a driver for that one. Now there are just two things left: the "PCI Simple Communications-controller" does not work and the "Intel H5 Express chipset LPC interface controller - 3B06" isn't working either. I found these problems in the Device Manager.

so i finally decided to install Windows 7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates
on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)
so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing
tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)
the annoying this is...is that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all unplugged..in the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.
my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.
does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway
this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense

I just migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7, and installed Skype, the same version that worked perfectly for me on the old computer, but I can't get the microphone to work. I've gone through all the troubleshooting tips Skype provides, but no matter what I do, it's not working. On the XP I didn't have to do any configuring, just plug in and go. When I plug in the mic on Windows 7 I get a popup from 'Dell Audio. The mic is turned up all the way, not muted, and it says ON at the bottom of the screen.I've gone into the sound settings from Control Panel, and every tab says that everything is working properly, and I've got the in-line mic enabled.

The problem is that my microphone is not working with windows 7. I am using a M2NPV-MX type motherboard with integrated soundmax card.I have tried to look up many soundmax drivers, but none of them seemed to be able to help my problem.Although I have read the forums and found a topic about a speaker problem to the VM type of this motherboard, sadly the driver mentioned there was not able to help either. Is there something similar driver, specifically to the MX type motherboards that i can try?

I have a USB Microphone, a Samson C01U. I also have a regular microphone, which I plug into the audio jack. The microphone that's plugged into the audio jack shows up correctly in the levels tab of my speaker's properties. I can mute/unmute it, and adjust the volume that I hear it in my speakers. My USB Microphone however, does not. Is there anyway I could get it to work that way and hear it in my speakers? Because I know that if I just use "listen to this device", there will be severe audio delay between when I speak and when I hear it.
