May 12, 2009I have just done a fresh install from vista to Windows 7 7100. All drivers are installed and working fine but I dont seem to be getting any sound out of my internal laptop speakers.
I plugged in headphones and they work fine, i never had a problem in Vista. I have install the latest Realtek 223 codecs and still no joy, I'm in the middle of trying some older versions but does anyone else have any ideas?

May 20, 2009so i finally decided to install Windows 7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates
on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)
so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing
tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)
the annoying this is...is that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all unplugged..in the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.
my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.
does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway
this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense
Skype Is Working, But Internet Browser Is Not?
May 2, 2011my Skype is the only one working on my laptop. All the others (yahoo messenger,internet browser, google chrome, firefox) arent. Although, when I connect it directly to the modem, it works fine. When I use our wireless connection with a router, the Skype works but my internet browser and yahoo messenger doesnt. Did my dad tweak with the router? Is that possible?

Jan 22, 2011I'm having problem with my speakers. I recently had call on Skype, during the conversation I plugged in my headphones. After I finished that call, I unplugged headphones and notices that my notebook speakers are muted. Windows shows that it's not muted, devices are enabled and so on. Everything seems to be right, except the silence. Funny thing is, if I open skype options and go to sounds, and try to replay some of the sounds there, it works ... PLUS it also plays music I have turned on in background, as soon as skype sounds ends -> silence again. I've tried to reinstall windows meanstime, didn't work. I was kind of shocked, since if it were HW problem, there would be no skype sounds at all ... if it's a SW problem, fresh Win should have got things on the right place .

Nov 2, 2012I've been hassling with a new Windows 7 laptop for weeks now. The external mic and line in was not working. Dell finally told me to go back to factory settings.After I did that today, I tried to tweak all the settings back to how I want them, but I'm stumped by the annoying message on startup that announces that I'm not connected, and that there must be something wrong. I got rid of it when I first got the computer, but now it shows me the weather and (wrong) time, which I don't remember from last time.I managed to make this message disappear when I first got this computer, but now I can't figure out how to do that. I think it may have something to do with automatic updates of some program. Does anyone know how to stop Windows from trying to automatically connect?
I suspect that this may also be interfering with Skype logging in. I read on the Skype support site that automatically updating programs could impact Skype. At this point it just keeps trying to log in, but just hangs there forever. I just used it yesterday without any trouble before I reinstalled, so I assume some setting needs tweaking on the reinstall.

Now there are just two things left: the "PCI Simple Communications-controller" does not work and the "Intel H5 Express chipset LPC interface controller - 3B06" isn't working either. Jul 6, 2011If I connect to my work VPN, then IE refuses to load any pages (inside the work network or outside). It doesn't even appear to try, just goes immediately to "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." I was able to connect to the computer with teamviewer remotely, name resolution worked properly, I was able to ping the web server etc. all fine, even brought the page up in FF and Chrome with no problems. I turned off all add-ins and restarted IE, same deal. If I disconnect from the VPN then IE works fine again. I was running IE9, I tried uninstalling it but having the same issue with IE8.

Oct 13, 2012After log in desktop it's all blue and only can move the cursor, other accounts work fine it's just the administrative account that wont open, I had tried from restoring to a previous point (it only gives me 1 and it's when the problem started) and did not work, I tried system repair and still don't work, I ran malware clean up and virus check and mostly every cleaning there is, and still nothing. It shows I am receiving and sending packets but not very often. All my other computers on my network except my one PC, I thought maybe it was my integrated network card on the computer but it seems I am not the only one who has had this problem.

Jun 29, 2012I have an Hp625 running Windows 7 Basic 32 bit - I can play music through my laptops built in speakers without any problems, but when I plug headphones (or external computer speakers) into the headphone jack no sound comes through them (and simultaneously the laptop speakers go mute). My computer is dual boot with ubuntu, and this problem appeared when I upgraded my Ubuntu version - still, I know that the jack works as it is working fine in Ubuntu, and Im sure the problem is fixable within windows!
My computer is using the IDT audio control panel, and according to windows everything us up to date and fine.
