i have my Hp g7 -1219wm notebook and being the type of person that I am i wiped the hard drive clean and installed my windows 7 ult 64 bit (did this with my acer laptop) everything was going fine knew i had to get the wifi drives but it wont install. It gets to the installshield wizard then crashes and get the error message saying this program didnt install correctly.

Now suppose when it tries to shut down it cannot install the update and stalls on "Reverting changes". Suppose you are lucky enough to be able to manually restart your computer and everything is fine, but the little shield is still over shut down. Is there a way to remove the updates you have installed before shutting down?

It will load past the "windows is loading files.." page. then it will load to the "starting windows" page with the flag, then it loads to the normally welcome screen for windows 7 but nothing comes up.. its just the welcome screen background.

I am running Vista SP1 32 bit version on my computer now. I have a Windows 7 X86 version I am trying to install. When I go to install it gets to the Compatibility part of the install, put up a blank box with the message that the info has been saved to my desktop. The only button to click is close. If i do that 7 starts over. The info saved on my desktop it blank also. Nothing. I also can't run the windows 7 Compatibility advisor from Microsoft when you download it. Any ideas??

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am unable to run any program in my accessories folder as run as administrator located on my desktop from the Start menu-Accessories. However if i go through windows explorer on my hard drive i am able to run as administrator any program in the accessories folder and the UAC shield is present. Why am I unable to run as administrator from the accessories folder in the start menu from my desktop. I noticed the UAC shield is missing next to run as administrator when I right click a program for options. This is only in the start menu-accessories folder from my desktop. When I right click a program in the accessories folder and select run as administrator I get this message. This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action Please install a program or if one already installed create an association in the default programs control panel. This does not happen from the hard drive.I tried and copied a shortcut example the command prompt which has the uac shield next to run as administrator option. When I move it to the accessories folder that is in the start menu on task bar I noticed that when i right click the uac shield disappears and unable to run as administrator. Not sure why it is happening from my start menu on my desktop. Other programs in the start menu have the UAC shield next to run as administrator when I right click the program. Does anyone know why the UAC shield is missing next to run as administrator on programs in the accessories folder (only from the start Menu) and not on the accessories folder on the hard drive and how do I fix this

We managed to disable it in misconfig now as it wasn't an OS app does it matter that it doesn't run because all I could find was it just checked for software updates and as most of our favourites do this anyway - is it worth getting it back on again.?

I did an SFC Scan and it says windows have found corrupted files but cant repair them.i did a virus check but no virus. When i try to change UAC settings it has this error - Bad Image C:windowssystem32comsvcs.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.So basically if it has the blue and yellow shield i can't access it such as: Network properties, Add or Change user account, Change UAC, Parental controls and whatever else.All im trying to do is access the Network Sharing properties so i can hook up my Xbox 360 directly to my laptop and use it as a router.I'm trying to avoid reformatting my computer because i have too much stuff and no where to put it.::I just tried using the other administrator account that i already had but that doesnt work either. For some reason I only receive interference through my speakers when my IO shield is installed. I've tried aligning the tabs to contact the motherboard connections, but that generates a lot of noise through the speakers. I tested it outside of the case and installed in the case (without the IO shield) and there was zero noise. Isn't my IO shield supposed to prevent this? So, I have the shield installed, and of course there is still a miniscule, but annoying amount of noise through the speakers. It's definitely the IO shield!Drivers are all current, mic and line in are muted.

I removed Security Shield 2012 from my laptop which has Windows 7. All went well until I got to Step 23 in Bleeping Computer website (.../virus-removal/remove-security-shield). I deleted the HOSTS file and downloaded Windows 7 HOSTS file. However, I can't save it in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\HOSTS file. I unchecked the hide system protected files but still can't find it beyond "drivers."

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy daughter got a Security Shield virus on her laptop and I managed to remove it using this BC thread: [URL]. The laptop uses Windows 7. The removal seemed to work fine, although one slightly odd thing (compared to the thread's advice) was that I didn't have to change the LAN settings/Proxy server when I booted up in Safe Mode - the virus was preventing internet access but didn't appear to be doing so by the Proxy server change. So I was able to access the internet perfectly well when in Safe Mode with Networking.
I downloaded everything I needed using the laptop wirelesly and scanned/removed the 2 security shield virus files using malware bytes. Then, when I rebooted as normal in order to complete the process and update the HOSTS files, I couldn't access the internet wirelessly. The router is working fine and when I connect via ethernet cable the laptop communicates fine with the internet. It just refuses to let me connect wirelessly.
I have tried:
- Checking all firewall options in McAfee (though I guess this wouldn't enable a wired connection either if it was the problem)
- Removing and reinstalling the wireless device (via device manager)
- Deleting and resetting up the wireless profile
Just not sure what to do next....
This is a great forum you have here! OK I am having a very low-tech month I think. I am trying to trouble shoot a problem with my system which had been running reasonably well until now -- I say reasonably well because lately I seem to have hit some hardware challenges. More on that later, however (if required).In order to trouble shoot my issues, I find myself needing to reinstall Windows 7 (My boot disk which is an SSD seems to cause the system to hang when it is connected so I am trying to install a new verion of Win 7 to troubleshoot the other from). Now I have ample space on a couple of drives so that is where I targeted. Everything runs fine in the installation process, the system reboots and I am presented the screen to enter a system name. I enter a name but the "next" button is protected and not clickable . Does this mean anything to anyone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI used to have Hamachi and Hotspot Shield, weeks ago, 'till I shut down my computer and rebooted. I got a black screen after log-in. So, this happens whenever I do one of these actions, and restart/shut down system:>LMI Hamachi is installed >LMI Hamachi is uninstalled >Hotspot Shield is installed >Hotspot Shield is uninstalled And as stated, system is them shut down/rebooted, proceeding with black screen error.The only way I can sometimes fix this is by:>Going in safe mode, SAFE MODE IS ALWAYS ACCESSIBLE, and then going to various system restores, and then doing the "recommended system restore". Otherwise won't fix.Weird though, has never ever happened with anything else, just those both, which modify networking processes I think.So, I am facing a decision. I need Hamachi. What can I do to ensure no more black screens, while having my computer safe?What is wrong with my computer? Or is it UAC Settings? By the way, I run Avast! Free Antivirus and make weekly full scans, as well as a few pre-boot scans every month. I've NEVER had a virus.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS that I bought at least 6 years ago. It has worked flawless from the start so I never had to learn anything about wireless networking. That is until now.I just built a new system with a clean install of Windows 7 which I have been running since the final public release in July of 2009. At the same time I took my old box, formatted the HD and put a clean install of XP on it. It has a Linksys WMP54GS wireless-G PCI adapter (w/ speedbooster). Both of these boxes were painless to get online with after the builds. However........now I can no longer access my network with my cellphone and my daughter can no longer connect with her laptop. The network shows up on the phone and the laptop but when trying to connect it won't. Not a thing had been changed on the router. Password is still the same etc. I did go ahead and do the firmware update though. The last time I updated it was 2007 and there had been 8 updates since then. As I said all had been fine so I never thought about checking for updates.
What has me puzzled is that the wireless XP box connects just fine but no matter what the phone and laptop won't. Now this may be a really stupid question but seeing as this is a new Windows 7 install on a new computer (assembled from a Newegg bundle deal) do I need to install the Linksys software CD? Windows 7 Seems to have already configured everything for the network and drivers. I'm hesitant to run the CD because I don't want to risk hosing something in the process and having no internet at all.It's not critical to have the other devices be able to connect but it would be nice to have full access like I used to
