Battery Life Time Remaining?
Mar 24, 2010I have a HP Pavilion laptop and when I hover over the battery icon it tells me the percentage of battery left but I was wondering if their was a way to get it to show me how much time I have left? I have seen other pc's with Windows 7 have this and I was wondering if mine can do this also.

Nov 25, 2010I'm still fairly new to windows 7 and i have found a bug or something with mine. I normally have my windows start bar (the bar with all my open windows) set to be transparent. When I close my laptop screen it sets it to hibernation and a good portion of the time when I start it up again my start bar will be a solid light blue color.
It changes the way the windows work and frankly it's annoying! When I restart the computer it goes back to normal but there are times that I can't restart it due to a buggy Art program that won't allow me to save for a while and I'll loose everything. When I go into personalization I try and fix it and even if I change it back to transparent it stays solid until I restart my computer.
Hibernation Works Randomly / WHEA Logger Event 18 When Hibernation Fails
Dec 8, 2012When I put my computer in hibernation, sometimes when I wake it, it hangs at the user select screen, or it just shows a black screen. Sometimes I can reset the computer after it has hanged, and try again resuming from hibernation, and many times it will work after a couple of tries. Other times after resetting I won't get the prompt to try again with resuming (the other option is to delete hibernation data and reboot the system) but I will get the usual screen that says that Windows was not shut down correctly (with all the options for safe mode, etc). If I cannot resume and I get the screen with safe mode and all the other crap, I finally log in I get a notice that there was a critical error, in the details I see BlueScreen and other data, but I actually never get a blue screen. In the dump folder, there are no dmp files related to the hibernation hanging.
Anyway, when it happens, I see several Event 18 WHEA-Logger in the event viewer, about 6 of them every time.What's weird though, is that I literally have NO problems with this computer other than this. The only times it hangs is when I resume it from hibernation. I can play games or run stress tests with or without overclock and the system is 100% stable. But there is some problem that prevents it from resuming from hibernation correctly, so every time I use it is basically a gamble because it has like 50% chance of working.I tried EVERY SINGLE solution I found with google related to hibernation problems, and it's still there. I even formatted and reinstalled Windows from scratch, and it's still there. I'm positive I updated every single driver for every hardware I have and nope, no solution.I know the WHEA error is related to the hardware but like I said, everything works PERFECTLY once the system starts up properly, or when it resumes from hibernation properly. Aug 13, 2012i am able to turn my computer on for a few seconds but then it automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds but the thing is after letting it sit for a couple seconds it says something about how the clocks on my processor have been overclocked too high and asks if it wants me to restore them, so i do that and then the computer works fine, but then when i turn it off and turn it back on it does the exact same thing until i get that message again.i've tried manually reducing the clocks on my cpu even though they were already at stock clocks and that didnt work

Computer Running Slow Even Though 15 Percent Of Memory Remaining
Apr 21, 2012Sometime I do somewhat intensive processing that causes 85% of my 6GB ram to be used. But when 85% is being used, my machine completely slows down for all other tasks including very basic tasks like opening Windows Explorer. Surely the remaining 15% should be more than enough to open Windows Explorer without any latency. I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. Also, I should state that the CPU usage is very low at these times.

Nov 15, 2011When I try to copy large files (over 100 megabytes) to a network location, files begin to be copied, but soon hang after "5 seconds remaining" appears in the copy progress dialog.
I can copy smaller files without problems. I've tried this on two laptops: one with Windows 7 Home Edition and one with Windows 7 Enterprise edition.
By contrast, I can copy large files to said location from my work PC, which is based on Windows XP. But I'd need to be able to do that from home as well.

I installed a clean windows 7 installation, Worked fine for a bit and now when I put it into sleep mode it BSOD coming out. In hibernation it requires me to hit the power button to come back and when it does it just comes up with a windows black screen with white lighting saying "windows could not recover the data to load windows" then i need to coose to loose the data and restart or try and load the data (which never works).I have the minidump file that I ran in debugger and and analyzed, which I am pasting here since idk how to upload it;

Stuck At Starting Windows 7 + Failing To Come Out Of Hibernation?
Apr 26, 2012Firstly my laptop (which is a Dell Inspiron N5030 running Windows 7 64 bit) starting showing up with a black screen when it was trying to come out of hibernation, it gave the status as 0xc0000242 and saying there was a fatal error with the hiberfil.sys and that it would have to restart. This continued for a while with the laptop closing all the applications that I had open when I hibernated, sometimes it would come out of hibernation without any problems at all. Then my laptop started to become very slow and particularly when loading up windows after being shutdown, restarted or hibernated. It was staying on the "starting windows" screen for about 5 minutes before actually starting up. I did a system restore on the laptop but no luck. I did a CHKDSK error check on the laptop but had no luck. I did a start up recovery but once again no luck.
Yesterday I decided to back up all my data onto an external harddrive and reinstall windows 7 completely as I have had the laptop over a year now and it was getting pretty full of junk anyway. I thought the problem had go away but it has had all of the above problems today no aswell, it is CHKDSK checking at the moment and has found several unreadable segments.
Frequent BSOD After Windows Goes To Sleep/Hibernation
Apr 13, 2012I've been getting frequent BSOD after Windows goes to Sleep. I'm getting BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO, KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR and CRITICAL_OPJECT_TERMINATION errors pretty regularly. I ran chkdsk on my C: drive and got a registry file failure. This is a fairly recent build (<8 months).

Loss Of Hibernation Functionality On Windows 7 Professional
Apr 5, 2011I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 307-SA laptop which is running Windows 7 Profession (32 bit) I recently tried to put it into hibernation but found that my laptop will no longer do so.
Hibernation had been working fine up until I upgraded my hard drive from a 160 GB 5400 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Blue to a 500 GB 7200 RPM WD Elements Scorpio Black hard drive. Ever since then I can't put my laptop into hibernation.
The menu option for Hibernation is displayed so it is enabled, however when I attempt to hibernate the laptop the screen goes blank (As if it was going to hibernate) but then after a few short seconds the screen flashes and then the login screen appears again prompting me to login into my user as if I had just booted up the machine
The only possible cause that I can think of is that I did a full system image of my old hard drive and used my Windows 7 disc to restore the image onto the new hard drive. Rather than re-installing my whole OS from scratch, so maybe the hibernation file/settings got bodged.

I've created a task triggering on a specific time and running the operation '/c "exit"', which should just start a command prompt and close it again. I've set it to "run with highest privileges" and "wake the computer to run this task". However, it just doesn't boot as scheduled.
The history of the scheduler says nothing at the moment that the trigger is set to go off, but a minut later (probably when I manually boot) I get a "Task scheduler "{....}" instance of the task "Wakeup" due to a time trigger condition."

Windows 7 x64
Windows 7 is on a SSD drive
Apple Mac Pro
I also have two other drives in, one for OSX and one with an old Vista x64 on it. I mainly work in Win 7, I never shut this computer off, I just restart sometimes. But today I put it in hibernation. When I was supposed to wake it back up the win 7 drive had just disappeared. I booted in Vista 64 and had a look in the disk manager, it tells me that the SSD drive isn't initialized (see attached screenshot).
As you may guess I can't browse this disk, and it does not show up during boot up. I did try to start from the Windows 7 CD and do a recovery, but it can't find my Windows 7 installation and so I guess I can't repair. What I could try to recover? Since I can boot my old OSX and my old Vista I'm quite sure it's not the rest of the hardware, I figure it's the Windows 7 drive or maybe its MBR.
