My laptop is not booting up. i tried reinstalling it, but still even with a boot able disk, the system is not loading up. I even tried reinstalling from the USB drive. still I the system isn't responding.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pavillion dv-6.I tried installing Windows XP as a secondary OS, but i got a BSOD every time i tried. To be more specific, I get a BSOD once all the setup files are loaded and it says Setup is starting Windows.Ever since then, my laptop no longer boots windows 7 up. It goes to the booting screen and the cursor keeps blinking, but thats it.I think the reason behind this is because xp uses boot.ini, but 7 doesnt, and if the setup files were copied onto the hard-drive, and so was a boot.ini file, it doesnt detect xp or 7.What should i do? And i was also wondering whether I can use a Hiren's disk to added Windows 7 to the boot manager, something like EasyBCD.
View 2 Replies View Relatedbrand new lappy. its the Acer travelmate 5740G fantastic specs - everything is nice and responsive, except that i can't connect my wireless at uni. the tech guy had a look at it and he can't figure it out either. we did everything, including shutting down (eventually deleting) the AV because of its firewall. we set up the network exactly as everyone else does (and it works for everyone else).
the computer keeps suggesting that we check the router (but the router works). i can get net through RJ45 no worries but... i want my wireless to work.
I have installed Windows 7 Ultinate on my Compaq 610 laptop but it won't discover the built-in blue tooth. I have downloaded the driver from HP Site but the driver also comes up with an error that no device found, cancel installation.

But the system was still slow and freezing.So I made some googling and ran Check Disk GUI, but it couldn't complete its job. So I started to figure out that the thing was a bit harder than I first thought.I tried to defrag and optimize with Auslogics Disk Defrag Portable, and it too couldn't go all the way.I tried PartitionGuru, which, finally, could do the job � in more than 48 hours of disk scan! And it reported: "Disk verify completed. 548 bad track areas found."After all that, things went worse: I couldn't start Windows, I got a "Missing operating system" message...Then I tried Wondershare LiveBoot 2012 to no avail.The last effort I want to try is use some portable app (running from a USB pen drive) to format the whole HDD.The HDD in question has three partitions. View 4 Replies View RelatedI made a chkdsk and found errors which were repaired by not allowing the bad fragments to be written on. When I use chkdsk /v it continually shows 8kb in bad sectors. Does anyone know if these are the bad sectors that were sent into limbo or the total bad kb on the hard drive? I have made back ups of my documents and the OS. I think that these bad sectors were caused by a recent freeze which required a bad shutdown. If so I may not be required to replace the harddrive.

If I allow SeaTools to "repair" the bad sectors, will I be able to boot into Windows 7 again so I can at least save my data before replacing the hard drive?

I did a CHKDSK and it had some bad sectors and plenty of file corruption. Ran the Hitachi DFT software and it seemed to think it has rescued it, but I'm using another drive now just in case.
Luckily I could still access my e-mails when I accessed the drive from another system, and everything else is backed up via Acronis.
After installing updates on my Toshiba Satellite L305 I turned my computer on and it ran very slowly for about 2-3 minutes until the screen just went black. After a few minutes and attempts at ctrl-alt-delete I turned my computer off and restarted and a screen pops up asking if I want to Launch Startup Repair (recommended) or Start Windows Normally. If I choose to launch the start up repair it says windows is loading files... and a loading bar quickly fills and the screen goes black again. If I choose to start normally it just goes straight to the black screen.

The battery works fine and the computer turns on (power light comes on and fan spins), but the screen stays completely black. There are some media buttons near the screen that are touch sensitive that should light up when touched, but they don't. I tried resetting the RAM once and that worked as it turned on booted and ran fine, but it quickly over-heated and turned off abruptly. I let it cool and the whole not booting problem came back, and now the resetting-the-RAM trick doesn't work any more. I would appreciate any help as I am starting school soon and need a computer.

Removed HD, Removed RAM on stick at a time. Held down power button for 30 seconds after removing all power sources. Checked Google only to find out that this a common problem with this model of laptop. I apologize for not having any other specs for this model of laptop as It will not turn on. This is one of my clients laptop and would like to get it going. Have a feeling it is a MOB issue or graphics card.

What I'm trying/want to do:
Put the laptop HDD in the enclosure, connect via USB to the desktop, boot Windows 7 on the desktop from the enclosure and use all the currently installed programs on the laptop HDD with their current settings.
What happens:
With the HDD in the enclosure and connected to the desktop, I power up the desktop. Going straight to the boot menu, I select the new option which is labelled something like "USB-HDD0". "Starting Windows" appears as expected, followed after a bit by the logo, but then the desktop restarts before reaching anything the blue patterned default screen before login options.
Extra info:
When I replace the laptop HDD back into the laptop and boot, everything still works fine. Windows Startup Repair cannot find a problem (big surprise!) If possible I'd like to avoid the hassle of clean installs etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with installing a fresh OS because my harddrive. When I began the clean installation process my hard drive started clicking periodically (which didn't happen till I started) I was able to partition around these bad sectors and get the OS installed. I am now sitting at a clean desktop with the computer running fine.However, I know that these bad sectors will cause problems later and I'm wanting to know what I should do now. Is there anything I can do to kill these bad sectors and ensure my hard drive to stay proper? I realize that this shows my hard drive is going bad, but I feel if I can get this taken care of then I can keep the hard drive a while longer.

i have my old toshiba laptop satellite L745 . windows 7 ultimate(x86) Quad core with 4g ram and AMD radeon graphic cards. Recently I left my laptop untouched for a week because of our school exams. After finishing our exams I rushed going home to play with my laptop but when i try to open it , it hangs up on "starting windows screen" i try waiting for it in a few minute but that screen suddenly shows a BSOD error then my laptop reboot showing me the "Windows Error Recovery screen" with 2 options 1. Launch Start up Repair and 2. Start Windows Normally . I try choosing the 1st one (launch Start up repair) But after loading windows files it just show a plain Black screen with a mouse cursor.
