View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pavillion dv-6.I tried installing Windows XP as a secondary OS, but i got a BSOD every time i tried. To be more specific, I get a BSOD once all the setup files are loaded and it says Setup is starting Windows.Ever since then, my laptop no longer boots windows 7 up. It goes to the booting screen and the cursor keeps blinking, but thats it.I think the reason behind this is because xp uses boot.ini, but 7 doesnt, and if the setup files were copied onto the hard-drive, and so was a boot.ini file, it doesnt detect xp or 7.What should i do? And i was also wondering whether I can use a Hiren's disk to added Windows 7 to the boot manager, something like EasyBCD.
View 2 Replies View Relatedbrand new lappy. its the Acer travelmate 5740G fantastic specs - everything is nice and responsive, except that i can't connect my wireless at uni. the tech guy had a look at it and he can't figure it out either. we did everything, including shutting down (eventually deleting) the AV because of its firewall. we set up the network exactly as everyone else does (and it works for everyone else).
the computer keeps suggesting that we check the router (but the router works). i can get net through RJ45 no worries but... i want my wireless to work.
I have installed Windows 7 Ultinate on my Compaq 610 laptop but it won't discover the built-in blue tooth. I have downloaded the driver from HP Site but the driver also comes up with an error that no device found, cancel installation.

Previously, it could be able to connect to wifi, but suddenly, the wifi is like hidden from it. I also tried to check the wireless drivers but I couldn't find any.

I am running the beta on a Dell M1530 (laptop) and it just won't recognize the second monitor at all. I was running dual-monitors just fine on Vista.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had a second monitor set up for a while now, but havn't been using it much, i tried to use my second display tonight and its displaying no signal, the second monitor isn't even detecting in windows at all now, nvidia control panal will not detect it even when you try force it, its not in the devices, won't detect through the right click > screen resolutions thing either, its just like its not even connected.
Only changes i have made to computer lately was updating to the latest drivers as i got bad company 2, i tried going back to the old drivers i had and still same problem.
Im using x64 win 7 genuine version, geforce 9800gtx+, 24" acer and 32" LG screens, have had this setup working before, i plugged in the new screen and it worked straight away i didn't have to do anything, now its like its no longer detecting its plugged in, i've tried many restarts, i've tried swapping the plugs around and still can't get it to detect.
I currently have a computer running Vista 32bit Ultimate and purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.
When I used both the 64bit or the 32bit DVD to boot, I would get stuck at the STARTING WINDOWS screen for around 30min. After I will then be able to get to the install windows screen. Since I want to Upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, my option is only the CUSTOME/Clean install.
HOWEVER, when it ask me where I want to install the windows to, windows 7 installation could not detect any hdd. I am guessing this is why the STARTING WINDOWS screen took 30min load, as it was looking for a hdd.
In the same screen, it does have an option to load a driver.
So, I went to Asus to d/l the vista 64bit sata driver and also tryed the WD sata driver for the Raptor hdd.
The WD driver would not even show up on the floppy, and the Asus did.
Loaded the Asus sata driver, and still no hdd detected.
The computer is currently running with this HDD in Vista32bit and is seen on the bios. This is the only hdd in this computer, I really don't want to waste money to buy a slower hdd for my computer as the Raptor is 10k rpm.]
Note: I do not care about any data or problem in this hdd, I just formated teh hdd and did a clean
P.S. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tested and all hardware are ok.

I have just recently decided to upgrade all my pc's at home to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have purchased a Windows Home 7 Premium Family pack that allows 3 installations on the one license. I have tried installing it on my pc running a legal copy of Windows XP Media Centre Edition and it cannot detect my hdd.The PC itself is an Acer Aspire E500. I believe the motherboard running it is an ECS RC410-Mr (V1.0), has a Seagate Barracuda 250gb Sata Hdd and everything else is pretty much standard. So here's what is happening. I have put the installation disk into the DVd-rom and booted up my pc. It loads all of the default files etc and goes into the standard process to select the install location. It doesn't detect a hdd. So I figure at this point that i must have to load drivers for any on-board sata raid or something. Weird thing is i don't remember it having this option. I have looked into the bios to find if there is any low level Raid settings and there is no mention of it.I have gone onto the ECS website to find drivers for such a thing and they do exist. I have put them onto a thumb drive and re-ran the installation. It detects the driver, I click load and it says it is not compatible. I have tried multiple sources of this driver and none of them work.
I have heard stories about having to do a bios update but I worry about this on 2 levels 1) the pc works fine and I dont want to risk killing it, 2) the bios updates dont say anything about a fix for Windows 7 or the raid controller.Am I going about this the right way or is there something I have overlooked?
one of my user's laptop wireless is working properly until the laptop can't see any wireless. i already checked the settings of the laptop, even if the wireless is set to broadcast, i cant see or connect to any wireless..under control panel > network and internet > network and sharing center, on the left side of the screen i can't see the option "manage wireless settings". that's why i cant add any SSID of the router. i already checked the drivers and update it but still theres no wireless detected. when i run the windows troubleshoot i got this error saying "windows could'nt automatically bind the ip protocol stack to the network adapter".

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just built my PC (first one, sounded like a good idea at the time) and was told that getting the latest drivers would "fix" this issue. Problem is, I haven't had a PC or really been on the net since 2001, (don't laugh) so.....I don't know how to get the "right" ones. I realize that i've built something waaaayyy over my head/experience level, so now I just want to learn all that I can.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some unknown reason realtek drivers can't detect my mic and thinks that I am using speakers (I'm using headset) no idea how to fixed this , google whole day couldn't find anything , tried uninstalling , installing new drivers , tried windows drivers no luck, here's a screenshot maybe someone could help me out , I tried out Game booster software and defragmented my c:/ hard then I noticed the problem with my mic. I am running windows 7 64x ,also I've tested my mic on my laptop it works fine with windows 7(x32) default drivers...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have posted in other forums with no luck.I bought a Samsung SH-D162D DVD Drive in a USB enclosure to connect to my Toshiba laptop via USB.I cannot get windows 7 to find it! When I plug in the USB cable the balloon comes up to say it has been installed (sometimes), I can see it on for about 1 or 2 minutes then it drops off. It isnt listed in my hardware or anything. Its not found in Disk Management or My Devices so it isnt a case of changing the drive letter - i cant find the drive to change it.I have also tried to find the upper and lower settings in regedit....couldnt find them so couldnt delete them as advised in other posts of this nature. It is set to master, the IDE connector and power connectors are fine. Its gotta be a windows 7 problem cause it does show up very breifly. In the minute or 2 its there I cant do anything with it...it just hangs although it will open and close. Ive googled it and cant find anything.Ive also connected it up to another laptop with XP and had no problems so I know the DVD Rom works fine and all the cables are ok.Ive tried in all 4 USB ports on my laptop and also turned off all energy settings...all with no luck. And I also have EVERY windows 7 update.
Heres exactly what happens from power off on the enclosure.
1 - I plug in the USB lead then turn on power to the enclosure.
2 - I quickly go to Start, and I can see the DVD Rom drive E next to my laptops dvd rom.
3 - The green bar at the top starts filling up from left to right and gets about half way then suddenly the DVD Rom icon disappears and so does the green bar.
4 - It then flashes up under the laptops DVD Rom icon with a Local Disk drive E but only for a split second.
5 - Sometimes a balloon comes up saying installing device, then device successfully installed...but not every time.
Just formatted my system after it was invaded with some trojans. But now, AVG doesn't detect any viruses or malware at all, yet when I open Task Manager, my system CPU usage is hovering from 77-100 percent. Computer is running really slowly too.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a dv7-1261wm and installed Windows 7. But in Device Manager, it shows 5 drivers that didn't install. There are 4 listed as "Base System Device" and 1 as "Unknown Device". I've installed all the drivers from HP's site, but that didn't help.
The main issue though is the CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Rom drive doesn't detect in any burning programs. It shows as installed fine, but burning programs can't access it.
So, I upgraded from 32-bit Vista to Windows 7 RC. All went well, except for my computer now only detects (under Display Adapters) a Standard VGA Adapter. I have a Dell XPS M1530 notebook, and it came with a nVidia GeForce card, I believe it was a GeForce 8600M GT. I right-clicked and told it to check for hardware changes, but it will not detect the graphics card.
Because of this, it is not displaying any of the Aero effects, etc, and my second monitor is not receiving any signal although it is properly connected.
Does anyone know how I would be able to fix this?
I just installed the RC and have been trying everything I can to get it to detect my second monitor. Both monitors are identical and worked in the pre RC version of Windows 7 with absolutely no issues.
I used the Nvidia drivers from Windows update as well as the ones from the Nvidia site. Both will not show my second monitor.
If I switch the cables it works on the other monitor no problem.. It just will NOT detect it when they are both plugged in.
