View 9 RepliesI've had a second monitor set up for a while now, but havn't been using it much, i tried to use my second display tonight and its displaying no signal, the second monitor isn't even detecting in windows at all now, nvidia control panal will not detect it even when you try force it, its not in the devices, won't detect through the right click > screen resolutions thing either, its just like its not even connected.
Only changes i have made to computer lately was updating to the latest drivers as i got bad company 2, i tried going back to the old drivers i had and still same problem.
Im using x64 win 7 genuine version, geforce 9800gtx+, 24" acer and 32" LG screens, have had this setup working before, i plugged in the new screen and it worked straight away i didn't have to do anything, now its like its no longer detecting its plugged in, i've tried many restarts, i've tried swapping the plugs around and still can't get it to detect.
I just installed the RC and have been trying everything I can to get it to detect my second monitor. Both monitors are identical and worked in the pre RC version of Windows 7 with absolutely no issues.
I used the Nvidia drivers from Windows update as well as the ones from the Nvidia site. Both will not show my second monitor.
If I switch the cables it works on the other monitor no problem.. It just will NOT detect it when they are both plugged in.
i cant get my computer to detect my new monitor. it shows both monitors are the same thing. i want them to be movable.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Sager 3790 notebook with 2 GB of memory, a Centrino 1.7 Ghz and a Mobility Radeon 9700.Installation went perfectly. The card was detected by Windows Update and drivers were isntalled for it. They're from December 2008. Okay, that's fine and dandy. As soon as the drivers install the highest resolution available on the primary display is 640x480. Why? Because Windows won't/can't detect my primary monitor. It shows up as an "Unknown display device."I can attach an external monitor and adjust its resolution all day. I can also remote into the laptop and that works fine.I am nearly 100% confident that I cannot change the display resolution because the monitor won't detect correctly. I can't manually force an install of a monitor or change the "Unknown display device" driver because that section is grayed out in the "Advanced Settings" under the Display Resolution tab.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sceptre X20WG Naga 20.1" monitor on a DVI connection with my EVGA GTX460 card. I was using it yesterday while studying for finals and decided to hook up my 37" Westinghouse TV via VGA connection, using a VGA-to-DVI converter to plug into the graphics card, as the card only has dual-DVI and mini-HDMI outputs. It was working grand as a second screen, no issue at all. Now, today, I turned on my computer and my Sceptre Monitor wasn't outputting any images at all, it just said no signal detected and then went to sleep, though my computer was still on.
So I turned on the TV out of curiosity and found that the TV was now the main screen, still with the VGA connection, and I hadn't unplugged anything since yesterday. So I logged in and right-clicked on the desktop, went to screen resolution, and here it says that the TV is the only screen detected, even after hitting detect. So I unplugged the VGA from to TV and plugged it into the Sceptre Monitor. Turned on the computer and the monitor worked like a charm on the VGA cable. I also plugged the DVI cable that I was using for the monitor into the TV and that worked like a champ too.
The only reason this is bugging me is because I won't always be using the TV as a main display because it's kinda of a pain to sit close to a screen that big. So I am currently on this forum while my monitor is using the VGA connection. It also seems to vary from which DVI port I use on the videocard because if I plug the VGA cable with converter into the 2nd port, there is no video output, but if it's in the first port, works great. I'm going to try just the DVI cable to the TV on each card port to see what the deal is there.
So basically:
The cable isn't the problem.
The VGA needs to be in the 1st DVI port on the card to work.
The DVI doesn't work at all when hooked up to the monitor.
What I want is to be able to use DVI on the monitor and VGA on the TV.

I recently updated my nVidia drivers to the latest and also my SiSandra Lite software (for quick access to accurate specs of my PC). After updating SiSandra Lite, I looked at the GPU section. As usual it loaded the primary monitor first where everything was fine. I then changed to look at my secondary and my primary monitor turned off and my desktop was shifted to my second. Now when I boot my computer, my primary comes on, but after the pre and post bios. Only when Grub comes on does something appear on my primary monitor, but it's very low resolution (compared to what it used to be). The windows 7 loading bar appears on my primary but before the logo can appear and glow, it swaps to my secondary monitor where it stays.
Windows 7 cannot detect my primary monitor trying both screen resolution detection and it's missing from the devices menu. Really confused about this whole business.I realise this may have been posted as a problem before. I did find little snippets of information about it but nothing sufficient.
I have a three monitor set up. Whenever I open up a browser, either internet explorer or google chrome on monitors 2 and 3, after a few seconds it automatically drags my browser into my main monitor(monitor 1, where my start button and status bar is located)

Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.

I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.
I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.
In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.
When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.
I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get
"System Halted
Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected"
I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.
Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.
This computer is running an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. It does support dual monitors...(I've had dual monitors active on this card before, but never on Windows 7.) But since installing windows 7, I can't even get it to detect the second monitor. I want to run the setup with the CRT as the primary monitor and the HD as the secondary.

As you can see from above, the "video card" is actually integrated into the motherboard. The computer works perfectly except for one major problem. I have 2 monitors, one is 22" with 1680 x 1050 resolution and the other is a 15" monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution. At the back of my computer I have a VGA port and a DVI port. The 15" is connected to the VGA port and the 22" is connected to the DVI port. When first starting the computer, the 15" monitor was recognized as the primary monitor while the 22" was recognized as the secondary monitor. No problem. I simply went to the display settings and set the 22" to be the primary monitor and the 15" to be the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, this setting seems to reset as soon as I reboot the computer. The 15" is always set as the primary monitor on start up, forcing me to set the proper settings all over again. What's worse is that even after I have set the proper settings, they sometimes revert back when using Media Center or other programs. Worse yet, sometimes the monitors both go completely black ... as if the monitor settings were about to switch but got locked up some how.I'm assuming that perhaps the on board video has a primary port (VGA) and a secondary port (DVI) but even still, shouldn't Windows 7 be able to over-ride this and save these settings so that the monitor settings remain the same during startup and regular usage?
I'm using a television (32p) as a second monitor in extended mode so that I can watch a movie in the TV and play a game in the monitor (this was my main goal). Monitor and TV lays in two different ambients, both connected to the same pc, one by normal VGA cable and the other by HDMI. I managed to differentiate the audio output so that VLC player sends it's audio to the HDMI (so that only the TV plays it) and the rest of system sounds, media players and games outputs to the speakers (basically only the VLC audio is directed to another output device). I reached my goal so that I can watch a movie fullscreen in the TV and play a game in the monitor fullscreen too without any interference from one another (nor audio or video).
The thing is, because I have the TV in another ambient I can't actually see what's going on in it, as I just "throw" the VLC window to the TV from my main monitor. And here's the question: There's a way to see the TV's desktop in my monitor? Without having to set it as main monitor so to not really switch between desktops.. The perfect thing would be if I could see the TV's desktop in a window like in remote desktops applications.
I have AT&T DSL and it just drops out, I have a 2 wire router and the DSL and Internet lights will flash red when it drops, I have had this problem for almost a year and AT&T will run a useless test and tell me everything is fine. I have searched for 3 days trying to find a Broad Band Monitor to let me know when it drops and for how long, also how many times while I am at work, or just not on the PC.

I currently have a computer running Vista 32bit Ultimate and purchased the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.
When I used both the 64bit or the 32bit DVD to boot, I would get stuck at the STARTING WINDOWS screen for around 30min. After I will then be able to get to the install windows screen. Since I want to Upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, my option is only the CUSTOME/Clean install.
HOWEVER, when it ask me where I want to install the windows to, windows 7 installation could not detect any hdd. I am guessing this is why the STARTING WINDOWS screen took 30min load, as it was looking for a hdd.
In the same screen, it does have an option to load a driver.
So, I went to Asus to d/l the vista 64bit sata driver and also tryed the WD sata driver for the Raptor hdd.
The WD driver would not even show up on the floppy, and the Asus did.
Loaded the Asus sata driver, and still no hdd detected.
The computer is currently running with this HDD in Vista32bit and is seen on the bios. This is the only hdd in this computer, I really don't want to waste money to buy a slower hdd for my computer as the Raptor is 10k rpm.]
Note: I do not care about any data or problem in this hdd, I just formated teh hdd and did a clean
P.S. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tested and all hardware are ok.

I have just recently decided to upgrade all my pc's at home to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have purchased a Windows Home 7 Premium Family pack that allows 3 installations on the one license. I have tried installing it on my pc running a legal copy of Windows XP Media Centre Edition and it cannot detect my hdd.The PC itself is an Acer Aspire E500. I believe the motherboard running it is an ECS RC410-Mr (V1.0), has a Seagate Barracuda 250gb Sata Hdd and everything else is pretty much standard. So here's what is happening. I have put the installation disk into the DVd-rom and booted up my pc. It loads all of the default files etc and goes into the standard process to select the install location. It doesn't detect a hdd. So I figure at this point that i must have to load drivers for any on-board sata raid or something. Weird thing is i don't remember it having this option. I have looked into the bios to find if there is any low level Raid settings and there is no mention of it.I have gone onto the ECS website to find drivers for such a thing and they do exist. I have put them onto a thumb drive and re-ran the installation. It detects the driver, I click load and it says it is not compatible. I have tried multiple sources of this driver and none of them work.
I have heard stories about having to do a bios update but I worry about this on 2 levels 1) the pc works fine and I dont want to risk killing it, 2) the bios updates dont say anything about a fix for Windows 7 or the raid controller.Am I going about this the right way or is there something I have overlooked?
one of my user's laptop wireless is working properly until the laptop can't see any wireless. i already checked the settings of the laptop, even if the wireless is set to broadcast, i cant see or connect to any wireless..under control panel > network and internet > network and sharing center, on the left side of the screen i can't see the option "manage wireless settings". that's why i cant add any SSID of the router. i already checked the drivers and update it but still theres no wireless detected. when i run the windows troubleshoot i got this error saying "windows could'nt automatically bind the ip protocol stack to the network adapter".
