View 2 RepliesFor the past few weeks I have not been able to connect to the Internet. When I try to connect a message comes up saying 'The connection was unsuccessful. This computer currently has limited connectivity to BTHomeHub2-GN89..' I then tried to renew my IP, but it said 'no operation can be performed on wireless network 2 while it has it's media disconnected. An error occurred while renewing wireless network connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has been timed out. No operation can be performed on local area connection While it has it's media disconnected.' what should I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just re-installed Windows 7 on my friend's computer. Previously, it was mapped to a network attached external drive in such a way that the IP address was shown for the NAS drive when you looked in Computer. I can't seem to make that happen now. When I go to Map Network Drive and put the IP address in on the folder line, Windows cannot find it. I've confirmed the IP address I am using is correct by looking on another computer in the network.
I am able to map it by browsing in Map Network Drive and finding the drive, but I'd like it to be like it was before, where it displays the IP address.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5534 with an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor L310 1.20 GHz laptop. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. My problem is that I can connect online, but cannot connect to certain online games that require the detection of my IP address. I have tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, but I get an error message saying the media is disconnected. This occurs when I am connected both wired and wireless. The weird thing is that I have a perfect internet connection. So, basically, how can I renew my IP address? I have Comcast internet and a Belkin Router, all which seem to be working fine.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis isn't a question about a printer sitting somewhere in the house.During tax season we go to the local library to do free tax preparation. We use an online program. We plug in our Ethernet cable to the library's system and each laptop has a static IP to identify it to the network. What we would like to do now is bring in a wireless printer to use for tax forms. Attached directly to this printer is a small router we have used before. But if we simply pressed the print button, I suspect it might look on the libraries wireless network for that printer.Besides assigning a static IP to this printer, I'm thinking we might also have to include the MAC address as well so it finds that router connected to the printer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI moved from dsl to cable and of course changed routers. I have three computers on a network and and an HP officejet J4680 which had a ip of 192.168.1.68 on the old network and everything worked well. On the new network the printer ip has changed to 192.168.1.2 and the computers can print to the printer ok however I cannot scan a document. The paperport software seems to be looking for 192.168.1.68 and I cannot find a way to get paperport to look to 198.168.1.2. The exact same problem exists with irfranview.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a brother HL-5250DN printer connected directly connected to the network via a network cable.
Every time I power down the printer it assigns a new internal IP address when powered back up.
I have to go into the printers properties and change the ports properties to match the new assigned IP address.
Is there any way to assign a static IP address to this printer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.
Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'
-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working
All of these options did not work.
What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.
Ever since I've reformatted my laptop, it's not able to detect or connect my printer. And I really need to use my printer now.

Much faster than the previous configuration, Windows XP Professional SP3 w/Office 2003 Standard. I'm using one computer to store all of the file backups and share the printer, a Dell Photo AIO 924. Everything's working fine, except for the printer. The printer prints from the computer its directly connected to, and I have it shared. However, when I try to connect other computers to it, I get an unable to connect to printer error with code 0x06. I checked a couple of things, Print Spooler service is running, network passwords are disabled, and all computers are in the same workgroup. I've gotten this to work before, but that was a while ago when I was running Windows 7 Enterprise trial on the same computer, everything worked great

How do I set up this printer (HP Deskjet 6940) using the xover cable connected to the ethernet port on the laptop?I found this thread, but as the last post indicates, it lacks the details needed to do the job. Installing printer via Ethernet Cable I connected the printer to the laptop with the xover cable, ran through the printer wizard to install the HP6940 drivers as per the Windows 7 printer installation routine, but nothing will print. I tried the MS FixIt routine and still no printing. All I see is an error - printing for this printer when I open up active printers.
