wondering what is the default key to enter bios for windows 7 when you install it for the first time. and how do u adjust the time delay before it loads windows - Manufacturing Board i have is ASUS -motherboard.
So anytime I set my date and time to the correct settings either manually, in the bois, or allowing to sync with internet time option, the date and time seem to adjust forward randomly but seems to be often 2-3 weeks. Not sure when it changes since I never catch real time but I've changed my time approximately 10 times now and it never sticks.
I use Windows Explorer heavily. I am constantly moving files and batches of files from one folder to another. I have one very annoying problem with this but I bet there is a way to fix it.Here's what I do - I highlight several files in the right pane, I hold down the right-mouse-button over the selected files, I drag them over to a folder in the left pane, and then the annoyance happens. If I don't drop those files immediately into that folder, the entire list of sub-folders pops open as if I hit the little plus to the left of the folder. What makes this a major annoyance is that the folder I wanted to move into has now changed its position in the left pane because the sub-folders popped open.
Now, sometimes I desperately need the sub-folder list to open because I forgot to find the folder I needed before moving the files. It is a nice feature. However, if only I could increase the delay-time. I'd like to give myself triple the time to drop the files into the folder before the sub-folder list opens. There has to be a registry tweak for this.
Each day, the first time I opening 'any' existing Microsoft Works Word Processor file that I have, such as ones I have for phone numbers, addresses, etc., I have to wait about 45 seconds for the file to open. And while I'm waiting, I can't do anything else on the computer. Any of those files I open the rest of the day, open immediately. It's just the first time each day.
I've got an Acer Model As5742 Laptop with an i5 480M processor and 8 GB of good Ram. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit. It's only about 5 months old and this started about a month ago. I have no other problems. IE: Blue Screens or Lockups or anything, just the Bios clock changes to a random date and time after every restart. I replaced the Bios battery twice and it only effects the chore of having to reset the time in Windows every time I boot.
I'm going to send it to Acer to be repaired within a week or two, but maybe it's not a bad timing mechanism in the motherboard and one of you people have a correct solution to it. Which will save me the trouble of sending it in for a motherboard replacement.
I do have all the drivers and bios updates installed. Oh yes I've ran about 15 different virus Etc. Malware scans with several different products and they all come back clean. I ran System File Checker SFC /scannow from the command prompt several times that also comes back OK.
I spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?
I like to keep my BIOS time set to UTC, which works perfectly with Linux, but whenever I log into Windows, the displayed time is UTC even though I have set the timezone. When I change the time manually or with synchronization, it changes BIOS time itself instead of simply using it as a base for localtime.
everytime i turn on my computer the bios starts up automatically and asks to set the date and time and save via F10. How can i resolve this?My motherboard is msi x58 gaming motherboard for intel i7 920 processor and the os is win 7
I have a windows 7 hp laptop model dv6000 and I want to check all my hardware components through the BIOS. I know that the key is f2, but whats the best time to hit this key..........
I cannot change the fonts in these two following windows. I would like to change all these fonts into Arial, but I cannot find a way to change them.I try to adjust them in personalization window coloradvanced appearance settings Active title bar or Menu. This method was practicable in browser menu, PDF files menu, etc. But it only failed to adjust these two windows...what a marvelous.BTW, since the fonts in this window are odd so that some contents in this window cannot be shown.
But in the last couple months, once in a blue moon I couldn't change my screen brightness, and now in the last couple days it's gotten a whole lot worse. Usually, I can't change brightness either via my 'fn -/+' hotkeys or via the actual brightness slider in the power panel. A full reboot or simple hibernation then reboot both let me change brightness again. But the last couple days, restarting the computer just puts the brightness on either fully dimmed or fully bright, and I still can't change it.
This is an HP G60 laptop, and I've had windows seven for a year on it. Like I said above it only started a couple months ago then got worse this week, and what I've found on google so far was all for newly-updated-to-seven issues. My drivers all seem to be up to date according to the windows update driver function.
I have installed windows 7 in C: drive and after than i installed windows Xp in D: drive. But now when i start my computer it automatically start windows Xp.in the C: i searched for the boot.ini it was windows xp written there also.
I have recently installed windows 7 and one of my program (Autocad) has menus that used to stretch from the top of the screen to near the bottom of the screen. Now in Windows 7 the spacing between each line on the menu has increased causing the menus to be much taller, and scroll off the screen. Is there any way to adjust this line spacing in menu items in Windows 7?
well i downloaded Windows 7 and now everything is HUGE. It says the size of my monitor does not meet the requirements to run over 600 resolution. however, i have a monitor well capable of running that.
I have a dell 2300 and the only drivers i can find are for xp on their site. I have been told maybe the graphics card is not strong enough, however, it is only 4 years old. Is it that big of a deal.
I need some help. I am not currently at my computer but i will update with system stats. when i get back.
My laptop screen was procken and I replace it with a new screen. The new screen show more brightness and rong color compare with any other screen. So here is my problem. I have an Acer Aspire 4540 laptop that I recently repaired after laying in my closet with a broken display for some time. So I took it to a repair center and got my new 14' LED display installed. Everything on my laptop is working fine, even my screen is working fine. The only issue I've noticed is that when I try to increase or decrease my screen brightness it cycles between the max and min settings rather than dimming or brightening respectively.
Now, I know I've had this issue before but I can't remember if it was already like this before the screen broke. I have tried rolling back, uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers several times yet the issue is still there.
Im running on Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD4200.
I know this is a small issue but I need to fix it since I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop.
