View 0 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my "aero peek show desktop" at the right side of the task bar. it is double size, i read in a few forums about this case with installing tablets. i installed my wacom tablet a few days ago,so i suppose its because of this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI only learnt about this a couple of weeks ago!If you want to make the Aero Peek button at the far right of your Taskbar into a plain and simple Show Desktop button:Simply right-click the Aero Peek button and un-check the "Peek at desktop" option. Et Voila!! That's it!

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a PC on my domain network. i have a new laptop, but i cant install Aero peek on this PC, or either activate it.
i have look at the guide in here and other sites, but i cannot activate it. can i download it or does it comes with IE9? atm i have IE8 installed.
its a Windows 7 pro 32-bit version. i have aero peek on the other PC's in the domain:S
I am puzzled as to why my aero peek display (is this the little mini pictures of the open windows?) has diappeared when I hover my mouse over the taskbar. All I have now is the title of the page, rather than a miniature of what's open. I did have to update display drivers a couple of days ago after having some nasty display problems that led to BSOD. Could that have caused it? When I go to Task Bar -Properties I can't check "Use Aero Peek to preview desktop"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista to Win 7 Pro, everything was working fine until a few days ago. The Aero Peek flashes for a second then goes away. Also the screen saver doesn't kick in or sleep or hibernate. I did a repair install and then a complete install also uninstalled the video card driver and and put it back on, but still nothing. I did notice when I have the device manager screen open that peek will work with everything that is open. The only thing that was changed to the laptop is that I hooked it up to a TV through the VGA. Also I deleted the old files from Vista that were stored in C:windowsold. Haven't touched the register.
Anything that I hoover over that should show a display of some sort (such as picture, that will show the date taken, and size) it will only show for a second then disappear.
Also did a sfcscannow which showed no problems.

If I am using a program and I move my mouse over to the taskbar and mouse over another program I have running the preview is displayed only briefly (on the order of milliseconds). If I click the taskbar first, then hover over an icon the preview is displayed correctly and if I mouse over the preview the window is brought to the front. However, if I click the preview the program is only sporadically brought to the front.I also noticed that Alt-Tab is not working correctly either. When I hit alt-tab the selection menu is again only flashed on screen even while holding Alt.Restarting computer doesn't fix it.Already ran the troubleshooter and no problems were found.Did a system restore to before the problems were there but that did not solve the issue either.Checked performance settings and everything is enabled.Like I said earlier I can't think of anything that was changed between the time when it was working and the time that it was not. I literally got up from my computer, sat down in another chair in my office, read a book for a couple hours, came back and it did not work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have installed Win7 Ult Ed into my latpop but I noticed that when for example i download a number of files, and hover my mouse over it to preview it, it actually does not show the progress of my download in real time, this only happens when i actually click on the thumb nail iteself where I can fully see it. I am running a 32 -bit machine with 4gb ram, why it does not show things in real time? The same thing happens when I play music in Windows Media Player.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a peculiar problem with aero peek. It sometimes just decides not to work anymore, and only shows labels instead of a preview. This is only temporary, because when I switch between other windows, the aero peek is activated again. I actually reproduced this behavior by switching to this post, and writing for 1-2 minutes. Hovering now only produced labels/tooltips. By switching to another window, aero was "activated" again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst af all, hi all, i'm new to the forum. I found it out couse i'm using windows 7 right now (well, i haven't any particular file on my desktop so nothing to loose) and i'm searching a few things to improve my (till now really good) experience with this os.
Now the little problem: i'm searching for a keyboard shortcut to switch through windows with aero peek (x-ray vision) just like i do with flip3d, is that possible?
The only thing i found near to what i'm searching is the shortcut to switch through active elements that is like moving the mouse over icons of pinned-apps, that is not the same.
Aero peek has many useful features but, compared to my standard work, it takes me too long to move mouse on an icon, wait for preview to show, than move again mouse on previews of different windows of the same app.
I just installed Windows 7 a week ago and today a very weird thing happens - Aero Peek doesn't work all the time. One thing I noticed is that when it does not work the taskbar icons seem like stuck in selected mode. What I mean is when you go over them they change their color - e.g. like they are selected. But when you go away they become transparent once again - well when Aero Peek stops working mine don't go to transparent.
I've attached an image. The bar on the left is how all bars should look like when they are not hoped over, yet as you can see the right bar has its "selected" color stuck. After I make a few "show desktop" switches, and then switch between windows - it somehow gets fixed. Totally random. I've tried closing programs, did the troubleshooter (said it's all OK), went into settings... basically everything I managed to find and thought of - I tried and nothing worked. All other functions of Aero work.
I have used all my resources to fix this and am at a loss. My aero peek is checked on but it is not working and is greyed out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo here is my issue: my aero peek thumbnails don't stay up, as I move my mouse over the active icon, it shows and then disappears. It flickers as my mouse moves across the icon. But when I click the explorer bar itself and then mouse over my active icon, it *will* show. I've tried to research it myself, updating my 9800gtx+ driver, running aero peek repair, and even windows Repair Install. It must be a registry thing, because I've done everything else.

* I also have issue with right-clicking and Explorer crashing, however mine only occurs when I right-click on the Recycle Bin, and only after my computer has been running for awhile and I am recycling multiple files.
I noticed today that if I open up a document that is residing on a network drive, that in the aero peek, the document is not displayed just a white box with the application's icon inside.
Documents that are not on a network drive, peek just fine.
Anybody else noticed this?
I have a recurring issue that drives me nuts to no end: Everytime I put my computer to sleep (I'm 99.5% sure this is the cause), Aero preview crashes, and prevents me from switching to an application with more than one window open (that is, using the taskbar). I have to kill and relaunch explorer to bring it back, but as I shut my laptop lid often, this is hardly ideal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Windows Explorer heavily. I am constantly moving files and batches of files from one folder to another. I have one very annoying problem with this but I bet there is a way to fix it.Here's what I do - I highlight several files in the right pane, I hold down the right-mouse-button over the selected files, I drag them over to a folder in the left pane, and then the annoyance happens. If I don't drop those files immediately into that folder, the entire list of sub-folders pops open as if I hit the little plus to the left of the folder. What makes this a major annoyance is that the folder I wanted to move into has now changed its position in the left pane because the sub-folders popped open.
Now, sometimes I desperately need the sub-folder list to open because I forgot to find the folder I needed before moving the files. It is a nice feature. However, if only I could increase the delay-time. I'd like to give myself triple the time to drop the files into the folder before the sub-folder list opens. There has to be a registry tweak for this.
Each day, the first time I opening 'any' existing Microsoft Works Word Processor file that I have, such as ones I have for phone numbers, addresses, etc., I have to wait about 45 seconds for the file to open. And while I'm waiting, I can't do anything else on the computer. Any of those files I open the rest of the day, open immediately. It's just the first time each day.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have loaded windows 7 but having a problem of the taskbar thumbnail preview it does not show the live preview instead it shows the title of the window open earlier it showed the preview.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to speed up the time it takes to close the preview window? By default, it takes about 1.5 seconds for the window to close after moving the mouse off of the icon or preview pane.Turning off taskbar animations in the "visual effects" does not shorten the time. It just takes away the animation, but, it still takes about 1.5 seconds for the preview to go away.
View 3 Replies View Related My Canon MF3240 laser printer is causing a timeout delay in Windows 7, when completing the loading of the desktop when booting (cold or warm). Long Explanation: When starting the computer, Windows will load normally to the desktop with near complete functionality. But there is a delay of 60 seconds while something tries to initialize or load. During this delay the blue spinning circle ("Working") can be seen over the Network icon in the systray, and over the Currency & Weather gadgets, and in Windows Explorer at the major headings. While the "Working" icon is showing I can open the browser and I have internet access. But I can't open task manager or use Windows Explorer until "Working" is done. The condition was first noticed after I uninstalled my old Canon MP780 printer and replaced it with an Epson Artisan 810. The Canon MF3240 was already installed before this change. I always suspected the Epson printer had corrupted something. This weekend I finally got around to removing all the printers, cleaning up, and reinstalling the printers. I reinstalled the Epson first (using correct W7x64 drivers) and all was good. Windows boots right up onto the desktop and everything is connected - no delays. Then I reinstalled the MF3240. Bang - right off - the delay condition. Now, if I unplug the USB cable for the MF3240 and boot (cold or warm) the delay goes away. What do you think is going on here? More Info: The original installation of the MF3240 was done when I first installed Windows 7. I was new to Windows 7 and there was some thrashing about to get the printer set up, I recall. I finally got it working by manually installing the drivers. These were XP-2000 drivers, best I can tell.
The driver I just installed for the MF3240 is MF3200_MFDrivers_Win_x64_us_EN_7 . I got these drivers from the Canon website for my printer, but I can't remember exactly when, but it was a while ago. I never installed these drivers before. Today, on that website, the only Windows 7 driver available is MF3200_MFDrivers_Win_x32_us_EN_7.exe ". Actually, that is the only driver for all Windows OS's. Also, the downloads above do not contain an installer package, only the .inf's and .cab's. If I knew then what I know now, I would plug in the printer, Windows would not find a driver, I will browse to the folder with the drivers, and the x64 drivers are installed. On the reinstall Windows found drivers and installed them automatically when I plugged the printer in. I had to go to the printer's properties and update the drivers to the x64 version. However, the delay condition happens in either version of the driver that I had installed.
My computer's operating system is Windows 7 Professional which is up-to-date and all the drivers are the latest I can find. The start up sequence is being slowed down by protracted activity on the hard disk, after the display of the Desktop, such that the only programme I have set to start at bootup is delayed by up to three minutes. This is the antivirus programme F-Prot Antivirus for Windows 6.A log obtained from msinfo32 shows the following:

As I do not use the Sidebar is it possible that Windows is trying to start it causing the delay? If so, how do I disable the autorun registry entries? I have no recall of how or even if I disabled the sidebar from loading.
Aero Peek or Desktop Preview is a new feature in Windows 7 which lets you preview the desktop, making the the windows on top transparent. This tutorial will show you how to disable the Aero Peek or Desktop Preview.
